BEST BETS: 54 - 93 / $168.30 (-$17.70)
Best Bet: BELLATRICKS (10th)
Spot Play: MADMAN HALL (2nd)
Race 7 - $10,000 Guaranteed Pick-5 Pool
Race 1 - $12,500 Claiming
(4) SEELEY MAN has obvious physical issues but he’s a very speedy type when right and he should be able to handle these. (6) BEYONDTHESILENCE N also has some issues but he proven to be an effective bottom-level claimer for Tritton. (8) TJ BLAST has become rock-solid at this level for Banca and he has a chance if not used too hard in the early stages. (1) RANSOM DEMAND has raced well since coming off the shelf and he gets needed post relief.
Race 2 – NW8050 in last 5 starts
(5) MADMAN HALL returns locally at a slightly reduced level and importantly gets Stratton back catch-driving the Schnittker trainee; veteran deserves top billing. (2) CLARION HALL moves to the Mark Ford barn via claim and he’s been razor-sharp taking his last three; hopefully this trotter can help bolster this barn’s poor stats. (1) CHERRY PEEP has been underachieving while facing better; class and post relief will help. (4) DRAGON THE WAGON got weakly parked last week; prior speed efforts were good enough, however.
Race 3 - $15,000 Claiming
(3) CHEYENNE REIJANE raced pretty well from the seven hole last week after missing time off a sick scratch and the move inside helps his cause; gelding is still shut out on the season but this does look like a live spot. (1) BROOKIES PRINCE N saw his long winning streak ended last week when he couldn’t sustain a two-move effort; oft-claimed pacer will be favored from this controlling spot. (5) BUGGER BRUISER offered nothing in his last two starts but he drops in class, will be a big price and can offer a good closing kick. (2) RUPP drops in for a tag after disappointing last start.
Race 4 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(4) MOTU MOONBEAM N is one of many underperforming veterans from a struggling barn but she moves to the Ruiz stable tonight and the change in scenery could wake her up; I could be completely off base here but I’m willing to include her assuming she’s a big price. (2) ONEIDA BLUE CHIP gets needed post relief and positive driver change to Stratton. (7) WISHY WASHY GIRL drops to the basement and has to be a player here, even from the outside post. (6) DEUCES FOR CHARITY drops in class and could squeak out a small share.
Race 5 - $20,000 Claiming
(3) STATESMAN N has been coming up a bit short in his last few but he drops in class to the $20K claiming level and that can get this classy veteran back on track. (5) SHOW THE FASHION goes for two straight at this level (and three overall) for top connections. (1) MACHLICIOUS raced very gamely for second off the Chris Height claim and now he lands the best post; player. (2) ER ROCK MY WORLD does fit with this type and could have a say.
Race 6 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) ADAGIO DE LA TOUR has taken two straight in solid fashion on the front end and the French import moves to the Banca barn via claim looking to keep his streak intact. (1) MAJESTIC MOMENT N reversed his form in a hurry last start for Tritton and is an obvious threat to take another. (3) SEVEN IRON returns locally with some needed class relief. (2) URSIS DES CAILLONS has been rather inconsistent but one of his better efforts gives him a chance here.
Race 7 – F&M NW7500 in last 5 starts
(5) ROCK ME BABY flashed good enough speed upon arrival from Ohio to suggest that she can take this questionable field the distance. (1) WHAT A FOX has some minor stakes experience in Pennsylvania and it will be interesting to see how the filly fits in this class. (4) TOPVILLE OLIVIA rallied willingly last out and can build off that effort. (2) EDEN PAIGE N was game in defeat in her last local try.
Race 8 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(6) MAGIC FORCES has been underachieving of late but the Burke trainee is better than these when right. (7) DIAMONDTOOTHGERTIE faltered on the front end last week but the Banca trainee should be forwardly placed again which should set her up with a live trip. (5) JUXTA COWGIRL is another one with good early speed from a decent midpack post. (2) AMATEUR HOUR has been racing pretty well recently and can be considered.
Race 9 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(3) ROSEWOOD took some money from the outside post upon arrival, tried to leave but had to take back to tuck and never rallied from there; he gets post relief in this very weak field and seems worth following up on. (7) SIR MACHALOT returns from Freehold with some decent form and was Stratton’s choice. (4) SOME GOLD has done nothing since the Devita claim but he does find a better spot tonight. (5) ALTA SHELBY N paced evenly last start upon arrival from Pocono; Bartlett drives.
Race 10 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(4) BELLATRICKS loves life at this NW10000 level and is a legit threat to take these coast-to-coast. (5) ISLAY N moves in a few slots tonight and should be close enough to make her presence felt late. (3) DARK FORCE has no current form but does get some class relief and picks up Bartlett. (1) MALNIFICENT has missed a little time off a sick scratch but should go well here if ready.
Race 11 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(3) HOT DEUCE returns locally off an odds-on score at Freehold and he can get brave if left alone on the front end. (2) CAVIART SKYLER also gave it a good try last week in Jersey and was accustomed to facing better in all recent local starts. (1) BACKSTREET LAWYER has to be considered a threat arriving from Philly with the best post. (4) DISMISSAL SLIP (Brennan/DiDomenico) drops from claimers and could awaken, and (5) THE ONLYEST ONE has been going fast at Freehold; either could threaten.
Race 12 – NW7500 in last 5 starts
(8) NITRO GLISTENING faces an uphill task from post eight but he closed sharply in his last two races and with some luck could reach in time at a juicy price. (4) VALRHONA tired from the pocket coming off a sick scratch but his prior effort was good. (1) ART HISTORY hasn’t won in quite some time but landing the best post should help his cause. (5) WILDCAT HILTON arrives sharp from Tioga but it appears his chances would have gone up if a local catch-driver was listed.
