Race 1 – NYSS 2YO Fillies
(4) FASHION HILL missed the initial NYSS leg but quickly made up for lost time with a game front-end score last week at Buffalo; Oakes trainee will be odds-on to repeat. (1) THE FUN MARSHALL had gone evenly on the rim in her two lifetime trips; perhaps with a rail ride tonight she can have more in the tank late. (3) LOLAS GOLD broke in NYSS action two back but rebounded well in an overnight event; Ryder trainee has Dunn driving. (5) HEN PARTY gets Gingras back in the bike for Burke but the outer post likely hurts her chances.
Race 2 – NW2 or $25,000 lifetime
(5) LOVE TRUMPS HATE has raced very well for Troy Beyer since adding the hobbles and he meets a field here with plenty of question marks. (2) TOPSPIN S makes her U.S. debut for Banca off a couple of nice qualifiers, but why prep at Pocono and not here? (7) FRONTIER CREEDA is an interesting Ohio shipper; problem here is the post. (4) ZACK TO THE MAX arrives from The Meadows where he’s been flashing early speed.
Race 3 – Excelsior A 2YO Fillies
(7) SUGARONTHEBEACH drops from NYSS competition into this seemingly easier spot and was Bartlett’s choice; I suspect she’ll be on the move early. (3) CHARM AND GRACE makes her career debut for a different barn from which she qualified from, but those morning sessions seem to indicate she’s ready. (1) ROJAS BLUE CHIP flashed speed in her career debut, now draws best. (5) BOTTLE OF RED has shown very little versus NYSS types; this class drop seems needed.
Race 4 – Excelsior A 2YO Fillies
(4) SPRECKLES made her career debut a winning one then gave the NYSS a shot with little success; she’s back in with more comfortable competition tonight. (2) LADYBOSS won willingly on debut in an overnight event at Vernon and she picks up Zeron getting a bigger test. (5) IDEAL DANCER recovered nicely from last week’s break; Kakaley’s choice. (6) TWIN B SALSA seems legit but is outside her main competition.
Race 5 - Excelsior A 2YO Fillies
(4) ROLL WITH AMY was well-backed in her career debut versus NYSS types off a nice qualifier but she broke; Butenschoen trainee deserves a long look dropping to the Excelsior level. (5) ALLEYESONME AS was a good second chasing from the pocket at first asking and she can build off that effort. (3) KITTY HOYNE drops from the NYSS which makes her worthy of a look. (2) VILLAGE ARTIST may be a bit short off those qualifiers but anything from Toscano needs to be respected.
Race 6 – NYSS 2YO Fillies
(2) MERGA HANOVER looked professional enough in a winning career debut at The Meadowlands for Burke/Gingras; must be respected for the top spot. (5) SO RUDE has looked promising in two career efforts for DiDomenico. (3) BOLT OF BEAUTY jogged at odds-on at Monti then was too far back at The Big M; Erv Miller trainee is a player here. (7) RACINE BELL certainly isn’t helped by the outside post.
Race 7 – NYSS 2YO Fillies
(1) RARE JIMSTONE seemed a bit short from the pocket in her career debut but she lands the best post again and it’s hard not to respect the Andrew Harris/Jason Bartlett combination. (7) GALLERIA GAL looks to have the most promise so far but lands the worst post. (3) PRECIOUS ALEXIS just missed two back from a good post then never got close in a fast one last week at Buffalo; better shot tonight. (6) MOANING LISA debuts for Croghan and picks up Zeron.
Race 8 – NYSS 2YO Fillies
(7) CASH ROLL shipped from Delaware and made an immediate impact in the NYSS with a sharp front-end score; Zeron should have her firing to the lead again. (1) DRAGON BLUE TINA could show more second start out for Harris. (4) TURNTHEFROWNAROUND was huge in defeat overcoming a break in her career debut; anything from Dunn/Ryder must be respected. (2) AMERICAN DREAMGIRL tries tougher trying to stay perfect in her brief career.
Race 9 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(1) WIND BLAST clearly figured things out with that wicked qualifier at Monti and he keeps Stratton over a classy Tritton trainee. (3) MACH TIME N was a good second to a sharp odds-on winner last week. (7) TEXICAN N lands outside, loses Stratton but still deserves consideration at this level. (4) JOHN DALLY could be considered underneath.
Race 10 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(1) FANTICIPATION and (2) MOTU MOONBEAM N are a couple of classy mares that have both fallen on hard times but I expect one of them to wake up and show more tonight; use both in multi-race wagers. (4) ANN HILL gave way on the front end upon arrival; maybe she’s better from off the pace. (5) STONEBRIDGE HONEY wasn’t bad in debut for new connections.
Race 11 – NW4 or $50,000 lifetime
(3) RECEIVERSHIP shows plenty of “1’s” at the finish for Team Bongiorno; clear-cut favorite here. (1) WARRIOR ONE has been right there in his three local starts and would be the most logical one if the top choice falters. (2) LADY ALLAIRE faces tougher off a nice win for good trotting connections. (7) BROWNIE also faces tougher and from an outside post but he’s been good since adding the hobbles.
Race 12 – F&M NW10000 in last 5
(3) BEST OF JENNA was very game for second last week versus a tough winner and the younger Stratton brother has proven he’s quite capable in the bike; classy mare gets top billing. (1) NEWSDAY returns locally with the best post and has been racing well out of town. (2) QUEEN JOSEPHINE came up a bit short at odds-on last week but it was still a good effort. (6) ROSE RUN TONI has Stratton driving for Hudson; consider at a price.
