Race 1 – NW5000 in last 5
(4) PERSISTENT THREAT A returns locally for Garcia-Herrera off a series of tough outside posts at Pocono and the gelding has raced well here in the past. (5) MAC ANOVER has been facing comparable out of town and he picks up Bartlett in his local return; he’s raced decently this year without a victory to show for it. (3) QUALITY CLOSER held stubbornly off a tough trip in his last local try and he lands in a good spot here but he’s burned money in the past. (8) MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING was game last week at The Meadowlands and is arguably best here but may be done in by the post.
Race 2 – NW2 or $25,000 lifetime
(5) BRANDYWINE BATTLE is winless in 32 lifetime starts and has failed to even finish second, however he’s shown much better speed in his last few and he could get the jump on this listless group with Brennan driving. (6) CHECKMATE HILL is another who figures to be forwardly placed and can work out a live trip. (2) WONDERMINT HANOVER ships back in for Steve Smith and Karen Garland and he did win gamely last out at Philly; looks like the one to beat but will be a short price. (4) EXPERIENCED ACTION wasn’t bad in those last two Meadowlands efforts and Bartlett is back driving and he’s another that will offer little value.
Race 3 - $15,000/$20,000 Clm
(7) POP ICON looked to be in a good spot off the Team Bongiorno claim but scratched sick; he bounced back with a game effort last out at Philly and he may be ready for action here despite the poor post. (4) THAT’S MY OPINION has been flat off the Andrew Harris claim but he does face softer. (1) REDONKULOUS raced well two back from a similar spot. (3) ROCK ICON picked up a win for these new connections two back at Tioga and he has a proven history here.
Race 4 – NW2 or $25,000 lifetime
(2) CAPITAL T HILL raced decently versus NW1 stock at Pocono and picked up a small share last week in minor PA stakes action; Allard trainee should go well here from this nice inside post. (5) ALLTHEFIXINS ships from Canada for Zeron and showed some decent moves up there in his two seasonal starts. (1) COTTON TO YOU was overmatched in the Dexter Cup; this is obviously easier. (3) BROOKROAD MASTER broke last out at Saratoga but was a winner the two prior starts at odds-on; player.
Race 5 – NW4 or $53,000 lifetime
(3) WARRIOR ONE was in a bit tough last start at The Meadowlands but was a solid winner in his lone local appearance; top billing. (7) DOVER DONY has had a nice season including winning the Weiss at Pocono; he’s a major player here despite the outside post. (4) HOTROD RICHARD has been showing good speed lately and perhaps he can last for a share. (2) EXOTIC DIAMOND did win here three back and she shouldn’t be too far back from this spot.
Race 6 – NW5000 in last 5
It’s amazing how sour (8) GIVENUPDREAMING has gotten but he keeps dropping in the box and it’s impossible to ignore him at this NW5000 level despite the post. (4) MIKADO BLUE CHIP gets class and post relief and should go well here. (1) SOUTHERN ALLIE beat the bottom level two back at Philly; obvious player here from the rail with Bartlett. (6) KENRICK N dropped and popped last week at Monti and he’s faced better here in the past.
Race 7- NW6 or $75,000 lifetime
(1) MISTER RUFF probably should have won that last start, his local debut for Jenn Bongiorno; give him another chance to take these the distance. (3) INTEROVER is well-mannered and has speed which is why she’s always right there every week. (6) ALEXANDRIA HANOVER will probably be chasing again from this spot but could rally for a share like she did last out. (2) MRS DARCY gets post relief for the live Hudson/Stratton tandem.
Race 8 – F&M NW10000 in last 5
(4) BRONZE OVER N has beaten better than these a couple of times recently and she just needs a smooth trip to get it done. (6) ALL ABOUT MADI returns locally for Brittany Robertson and she has a great history over the Yonkers oval. (1) AMATEUR HOUR has been okay recently and the mare is way overdue. (5) TIPP CITY has looked good for her connections but faces some tough ones in here; include underneath.
Race 9 – NW8 or $104,000 lifetime
(4) GEMOLOGIST wasn’t that great here earlier in the year but moves to a new barn and was a good second last out at Saratoga to a classy rival; worth a look. (1) BIGBOY ROSCO will be heavily favored to take these coast-to-coast but I’m not convinced he’s worth a short price and I can see someone picking him off late. (2) VOLARE is still shut out of the win column this year and the Allard trainee seems to be better than he’s been showing. (6) PINE BUSH ROSE had won four in a row moving up the class ladder then stalled when hitting this level; she still raced well in her last two but from tougher spots.
Race 10 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(4) RAINBOW ROMANCE N has been rather dull recently but some tough outside spots may have had something to do with it; note six back he was a solid winner from a similar spot. (3) SAMS A CHAMP A folded badly on the front end last out at Pocono which makes him a question mark here, especially at a short price. (2) GALACTIC GALLEON doesn’t win often but he can save ground here for a share. (1) WARMINSTER A has the talent but is a bit on the inconsistent side.
