Yonkers: Thursday 5/16 Analysis

Matt Rose|May 15, 2019
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: INTEROVER (5th)

Spot Play: YOU SHOULD BE HERE (7th)

MEET STATS: 159 - 451 / $823.20 (-$78.80)

BEST BETS: 23 - 39 / $67.90 (-$10.10)

Race 1

(2) CHERRY BLISS was flat last week upon dropping to this basement conditioned level but the Bucci trainee finds a very soft spot tonight and seems more than capable of taking charge here. (5) CRUISINWITHMYBABY has good early speed and may have a clear path to the front, which can make her a serious player at a price. (6) MASSIVE ATTACK A finished with plenty of late pace in her last local start.

Race 2

(4) LIGHTFOOTEDLEGEND was a solid winner in a Weiss elimination round at Pocono then returned from a sick scratch with a good try on the front end; Erv Miller trainee figures to be forwardly placed from this spot. (7) WARRIOR ONE has four second-place finishes already this year, all in the Walner series over at The Meadowlands; he would probably be a standout here if not for the post. (1) LOVE TRUMPS HATE added the hobbles last week and was much, much better for Troy Beyer; watch him for continued improvement.

Race 3

(2) PEMBROKE MONET was a bit overmatched in her last two at Philly but she went fast enough in those prior starts at The Meadowlands to suggest she'll fit well here; Bartlett drives. (6) CHECKMATE HILL has shown some live moves in two of his three 2019 starts for Laterza, and that was after missing all of last year. (5) PUMA BLUE CHIP likely needed last week's start coming back from vacation and this barn has done well here recently with trotters.

Race 4

In a race that seems to have 'fall-apart' potential, (2) DEWAR N SODA has really had little to offer this year, except for a lone win at Pocono versus some soft rivals; mare has raced well with much better in the past and Zeron gets the return drive after finishing belatedly last week. (8) SNEAKY GIRL beat this type four back and would be the top choice if not for the post. (4) TYRONBETTORSELLA N has been a disappointment since arriving in the U.S. but she will probably figure it out eventually; consider underneath.

Race 5

(1) INTEROVER was nailed on the wire by a sharp rival last week and a repeat of that effort should be more than enough to handle these. (4) CAYENNE VICTORY ships in for the Jenny Melander barn and she's hit the ticket in her last handful of starts in Pennsylvania. (5) BROADWAY BRUISER hasn't done much recently but at least he gets a bit of post relief.

Race 6

(4) MVP LUKE was a winner in the Bonus Trotting series consolation and followed that up with a strong uncovered win at 1/5 odds; Robert Cleary trainee is clearly the one to beat here. (2) FLYHAWK EL DIABLO moves to the Godinez barn, picks up Bartlett and could offer some value underneath. (7) BIGBOY ROSCO was used a bit early last week then held game for second after being overtaken by the winner; DiDomenico trainee could land another good piece again despite the unlucky draw.

Race 7

(3) YOU SHOULD BE HERE has had some nice efforts out of town this season and seems to have found a softer spot than she faced in her last couple; Bongiorno trainee looks well-spotted here. (1) BROWN BRINNY has been racing better recently but has just two wins over her last 42 tries. (4) DELILAH DE VIE ships from Monti off two wins and goes for much more money here; sharp sort could contend.

Race 8

(2) ART HISTORY had no realistic chance in his last two and pretty much went through the motions; Laterza trainee has prospered from spots like this in the past. (7) SOLID ASA ROCK A could not reach the well-rated top two last out and now he lands outside but the Banca import appears to have some talent and fits well at this level. (4) FIRST CLASS HORSE was much-improved last out.

Race 9

(3) RICH AND MISERABLE followed up his Bonus Series final win with an easy winning effort at Pocono as the 1/9 favorite; trotter should be able to handle these. (4) VOLARE has hit the board in his last four but has been unable to break through; Allard trainee should be used underneath again. (5) PINE BUSH ROSE looks for five straight but the mare faces a much tougher task tonight.

Race 10

(1) BORDER CONTROL A moves to the DiDomenico barn, draws best in this soft field and certainly knows his way around this track. (4) SECRECY has good gate speed at his disposal which should set him up nicely here. (3) EXIT CAM has shown nothing in his last three Yonkers starts but maybe the switch to Bartlett wakes him up.
