Best Bet: AMATEUR HOUR (9th)
Spot Play: AMERICAN VENTURE (8th)
MEET STATS: 97 - 281 / $477.30 (-$84.70)
BEST BETS: 15 - 23 / $46.00 (+$0.00)
Race 1
(1) LK'S NANCY LEE qualified in very good order for a barn that's been hot since returning; top billing from the best post in this abbreviated field. (6) SHADY SECRET A came out of the same qualifier as the top choice and also performed very well; could be a value play. (2) DEUCES FOR CHARITY drops to a more manageable level and should come away from this with a good piece.
Race 2
In a rare 'on the card' amateur race at Yonkers, (3) CURRENT CRISIS has loads of back class and experience with a capable pilot; veteran should offer a bit of a price. (2) FIJI was second best last out and the prior start was a sharp front-end win at Freehold with Abbatiello aboard; likely favorite. (1) WYGANT PRINCE has been around for like a hundred years and still seems capable of getting the job done.
Race 3
(2) ROCK ICON goes for yet another new barn tonight (Brittany Robertson) and stays at the winning level while drawing well. (8) P H SUPERCAM lands in a tough outside spot but the classmaster will offer a price and hopefully Kakaley can get him in play. (1) MISTER TRUTH goes for Laterza now off the claim and will be close up throughout.
Race 4
(3) WICK N was 5/1 in a $40,000 claimer three back and finished third; class and post relief make the Garcia-Herrera trainee an obvious contender. (1) KENRICK N has looked much better in his last two for his new barn and he's got back class. (2) ROCKIN PANDA took all the money off the DiDomenico claim but broke; better price looming tonight if you want to give him another chance.
Race 5
(4) DALI DELIGHT fits perfectly at this level and the oft-claimed mare should find a way to win. (5) SUCCESSFUL OUTLOOK was second best to runaway winners in her last two. (2) THREEDEE DELIGHT A has looked much better in her last two.
Race 6
(2) SHANE ADAM got brave up at Saratoga and the Banca trainee looks to be in a perfect spot in his local return. (4) ARDIE B SPEED gets much-needed class relief and seems impossible not to include here. (6) ZACH MAGUIRE N is another class dropper who could rally for a minor share.
Race 7
(1) BIGBOY ROSCO ships from Mohawk Park to join the DiDomenico barn, picks up Brennan and we've seen this angle click in the past. (2) PENNANT SEESLTER was outbattled last week at 1/5 but it was still a good try. (5) BROADWAY SISSY is much-improved in her last two.
Race 8
(5) AMERICAN VENTURE hasn't been all that good recently but for the most part he's been in tough spots; veteran meets a questionable field here and may be worth a play if the price is decent. (1) PERFECTLY CLOSE didn't fire on the rim in his debut off the Banca claim; expect better. (6) TORRID BROMAC N is much better than he's been showing but maybe his last few starts are an indication he's turning things around.
Race 9
(5) AMATEUR HOUR plunges from the Matchmaker into this much softer spot and the Blumenfeld trainee should respond. (8) SHESJUSTADELIGHT N is clearly not at her best and she lands in a tough outside post but she has more than enough class to contend here. (6) CHERRY BLISS goes back to Stratton, maybe a small piece?
Race 10
(4) MONTEPULCIANO moved to the Jenn Bongiorno barn, added hobbles and won at first asking down at Freehold; gelding could be ready to compete with these. (2) EXARCH has looked pretty good in his last two for Burke. (1) BOINGANATOR keeps Bartlett, draws best and should be a live player.
Race 11
(2) KEENE OLIVIA is up in price off the Surick claim and she has a post edge on her main rivals looking for three straight. (5) ACEFORTYFOURAMANDA goes for yet another new barn off the claim (Fusco) and was Bartlett's choice. (4) MORE THAN MANY has been going just evenly of late but a similar effort to her last few will land her a share.
