Race 1 - F&M 10000CLM Pace
(3) CLARA BEA shifts back to an inside post after having the seven-hole last Thursday. Her win two back was solid, and she goes for the hot trainer/driver duo of Tirella and Brennan. (4) CRUISINWITHMYBABY drops a notch after an even fourth against optional $12,500 claimers recently. She was in the Filly and Mare Preferred down at Freehold earlier this year, so she does have some class to her. (5) EDEN PAIGE N has won at this level both at Yonkers and down at Freehold in 2020 and switches barns after being claimed by Allard.
Race 2 - NW4/50000LT Trot
(3) CADENCE SEELSTER turned in another solid try last Thursday, finishing a close third from first-over after being saddled with post eight. She gets post relief here, and I'll hope she can step out and lead or sit the pocket trip. (1) K J CHARLIE was winless in 2019, but that's a distant memory as he's three-for-three this season, including a win over the Open class down at Rosecroft most recently. I think he should fit in against these types. (8) MISSION HILL was absolutely raging at the end of the mile a week ago but is stuck outside again. I will take a stand against as he's zero-for-two as the favorite at Yonkers, but I would not be surprised if he won.
Race 3 - 10000CLM Pace
(1) BROOKIES PRINCE N lost all chance last time out when he suffered broken equipment and didn't finish. He drops back to the level of his win two back and has significant post relief for a red-hot barn. (6) MY SPIRIT SOARS took advantage of a pocket trip and converted it into a win last Thursday. He does move outside on the gate this week, but Bongiorno is usually a pretty aggressive driver, and I think will go forward with him. (7) MORE DRAGON backed up his closing fourth-place finish on 2-24 with a rallying runner-up effort most recently. Given his lack of early foot, he'll need some live cover and pace to chase.
Race 4 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(6) OUR MISS REESE comes in from Ohio and joins the DiDomenico stable. His charges raced very well on Monday night, and this gal comes off a solid second-place finish at Miami Valley in her first start of 2020. I'll use. (1) WYNNFRITH rolled to a facile victory over $10,000 claimers in her debut for Allard and does step up. That's offset by having the rail, and she does catch a beatable field. (7) POPPY DRAYTON N finished with some interest last Thursday at this level. Stratton picks up the drive tonight, and he's done well with her in the past, including a third against NW15000L5's back on 1-17.
Race 5 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(5) FOLLOWTHEWIND N is another DiDomenico newcomer. She has not won yet in 2020, but did find the winner's circle six times a year ago and was stuck outside in quick miles in her last two at Dover. I think this is an easier spot and she's raced at Yonkers before. (6) BETABCOOL N has beaten much better than these in the past locally but is winless since last August. She was the runner-up in her last try against NW5000L5's on 1-21. (1) NORTHERN SWIFT changed hands after her last appearance as she was claimed by Allard. He does drop her down a notch, which is a bit concerning, so I'll put her underneath.
Race 6 - F&M NW7500L5/15000CLM/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Pace
(4) AMATEUR HOUR continues to slide down the class ladder but is capable of jumping up with a mile that can threaten every now and again, like her two second-place efforts against better back in January. Siegelman often gives these Blumenfeld trainees a shot with an aggressive steer, and I'll hope that's the plan here. (6) TELLAWOMAN destroyed a group of NW5000L5's most recently, but that was back on the 13th of February. Given that gap in her schedule, I'll take a shot against. (5) LINE DANCER has been racing well but was just one-for-31 in 2019 and is zero-for-five so far this season, so I can only recommend underneath.
Race 7 - F&M NW10000L5/20000CLM/Winners of NW7500L5 in Last Start Pace
(5) STELLENBOSCH scored her one win so far in 2020 the last time she met up with NW10000L5's on the 16th of January. She gets Bartlett back for the first time since then, and I think will put in a strong performance. (2) SHECOULDBEGOOD N also gets class relief tonight and she has been in against NW15000L5's in her last three. She has shown speed before down at Freehold, and maybe Marohn Jr. will try that approach. (1) BULLVILLEKARLA won two in-a-row back in January and has been in deep water since. This is an easier spot tonight, and Bongiorno has won with her before.
Race 8 - NW5000L5 Pace
(6) ROCK N BLUE can definitely win at this bottom level, but he needs to be close to the action like he was two back or in his second-place effort against much better on 1-11. He was Brennan's choice in here, so hopefully that's the strategy. (1) LETSCHASETHEDREAMN makes his third start tonight for the Bongiornos and his second off the layoff. He tried it first-over at the Meadowlands and faded, so he might appreciate a smoother journey. (3) SOSSY'S KING KONG hasn't shown anything for Banca yet but was compromised by post eight most recently. He has hit the board in this class this season.
Race 9 - NW5000L5 Pace
(3) HIGHVIEW CONALL N was sent off as the favorite against NW7500L5's when last seen locally. Though he faltered that night, that showed the bettors had respect for him, and he returns north against a wide-open group after an easy, confidence-building win down at Freehold. (5) PICKLED PREACHER has closed with two good final quarters for this level in his last pair and merits consideration. (4) NY WHITESOX held second behind the well-meant Swing City in his first start of the season. He could definitely move forward off that mile.
Race 10 - NW7500L5/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Pace
(2) MCSPIDEY lands in the easiest spot he's seen for quite a while tonight and couples it with an inside draw rather than the post eights he's been hampered with in his last two. (1) KENRICK N finished second after cutting the fractions the last time he competed against NW7500L5's back on the 6th of January. He was Matt Kakaley's choice in here. (6) RANCOUSY returned to Yonkers on 2-28 and was third against NW10000L5's. The winner of that event, McClinchie N, came back to down NW15000L5's on the 9th of March, which signals it could be a live race. This horse also won locally against NW10000L5's on January 6.
Race 11 - NW6/75000LT / NW8 Drawn Outside Trot
(8) WARRIOR ONE invades from the Meadowlands where he's been on a good roll. Obviously post eight is a concern, but he's been handy enough and shown enough speed at the Meadowlands that I think he can get placed, as he's the type of horse other drivers will want to follow. He also has winning experience at Yonkers back when Nik Drennan was training him. (5) COOL CLIFFORD put it all together last Thursday and was victorious from first-over. He draws a bit better tonight and races in the same class, so he's a contender again. (4) MUFASA AS controlled the tempo on the front-end in that same race but gave way to Cool Clifford in the final quarter. He is still in good form and that early foot always helps his chances.
Race 12 - NW10000L5/Winners of NW7500L5 in Last Start Pace
(6) CAMPORA N went a big mile a week ago, rallying and just missing against the classy Christen Me N. The Vallee barn is really going well right now and had another winner on Monday. (3) MASTERSON towed my top pick into contention from first-over in that same event and held well for third. He hit the board in both of his tries since dropping to this class and should have every chance to threaten again. (4) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN led until the final step against NW7500L5's most recently. He does have to hike up a notch here but was third against NW10000L5's on the 22nd of February.
