Race 1 - 12500CLM Pace
(5) HOPETOBEFIRST treks in from Ohio where he had a win and a third in his last two against their $12,500 claiming class. Looks like he should fit and anything Allard sends out right now deserves merit. (6) NORTHERN ASSASSIN A crushed a group of $12,500 claimers on January 24 and was Bartlett's choice in here. He changed up the tactics with a front-end mission last time, and he'll probably try for the same thing. (1) RANSOM DEMAND won two straight in this class in December and January and then stepped up but couldn't keep the run going from outside posts. He drops tonight and gets post relief, and that should put him back in the hunt.
Race 2 - F&M NW10025L5/20000CLM/Winners of NW7500L5 in Last Start Pace
(4) QUITE A DELIGHT N was Marohn Jr.'s pick of three in this race, and she closed well from post seven in her first start of 2020 last week. She has a better post tonight, and I'll hope for some improvement with a race under her belt. (3) KAY'S DELIGHT hiked up to this level a week ago and hit the board again, finishing third. I imagine Bongiorno will put her in play again. (5) BYE BYE MICHELLE found a winning spot down at Freehold most recently, but Marohn Jr. hopped off tonight. She was in a higher class when last seen at Yonkers in December of 2019.
Race 3 - F&M 10000CLM Pace
(7) KEYSTONE NIKKI is another new entrant to the Allard operation from Ohio. She didn't do as well at Miami Valley in her last two, but she shows beating $15,000 claimers in December on the half-mile track at Northfield. Allard listed Brennan and he did choose to drive her, so I look for a front-end trip. (2) WYNNFRITH came up empty after leading through pedestrian fractions a week ago. I think she might be better following horses, and she should get that kind of setup tonight. (1) SEW PSYCHED has beaten $7,500 claiming company at the Meadowlands a couple of times recently, and this group doesn't look much tougher than that. She has the pole position and Bartlett to help her chances.
Race 4 - NW6/75000LT Trot
(2) GETTIN MESSI performed well again on the 23rd of January; he just had the misfortune of meeting up with a razor-sharp Sweet Chapter on that night. He draws a much better post here and should have every chance to wire this group. (3) SUMMIT CITY SWAN makes her second start for Allard tonight after a rallying third a week ago. She should be much closer to the front after trailing from post eight in that first performance for Rene. (7) MISS YOU KELLY put in a strong first-over effort last Thursday to finish second against NW6's. She does move outside tonight, but I think Bartlett can find a spot if he floats out with her.
Race 5 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(3) MANHATTAN NIGHT slides down from two races against NW6 and one against NW7 this season to the bottom NW5000L5 class. She draws inside this time also, and I think there's a pretty good chance for a wake-up call. (1) APOTHIC showed some interest last Thursday when switched into this company, closing for fourth. She gets the pole tonight as well. (4) KAMWOOD LAUGHTER N has scored two runner-up finishes in three tries since coming over to Yonkers and came up just three-quarters of a length short on 1-28. She gets a driver change to Bartlett tonight.
Race 6 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(5) ROSELILY ships up from Delaware into the DiDomenico barn. She took four of her five wins on the half-mile track at Harrington in 2019, so I think she might be better on the smaller oval. She meets up with a beatable group here and doesn't have the outside post to deal with this time either. (1) I WISH YOU WELL could certainly give Lachance another win here as she moves from post seven to the pole position. She flattened out in the stretch last Thursday but her effort two back with a cleaner trip was good enough to threaten. (2) SWEET YOU made her first start since October on January 28 and was an even fifth. She was Stratton's choice and could follow in to add value underneath.
Race 7 - NW4/50000LT Trot
(1) SQUEE HANOVER got quite a bit of wagering attention two weeks ago but made an early break. That looks a bit out of character for him, so I'll overlook it and give him a shot from the rail tonight. (4) BAZILLIONAIRE was in a pretty salty NW4 race last Thursday and finished fourth. This doesn't look like as tough a race this time, and he should be a major threat. (5) CANTAB ED has been seen many times against NW4's at Yonkers and has hit the board. Brennan fired him out the last time he drove him, and I think he definitely could try that again.
Race 8 - NW5000L5 Pace
(1) LONDON SEELSTER has been dropping in class for quite some time and lands at the NW5000L5 level here. He gets a driver switch to Stratton. I'll hope he comes with one of those efforts like where he was third against NW10000L5's and NW15000L5's. (3) SOSSY'S KING KONG rallied to finish third a week ago and gets another crack against NW5000L5's. He gets Bartlett back again also. (6) MIGHTY MR SHARKEY N has closed well to finish third in both of his starts in 2020. I think he's a contender, but I worry he'll be too far back again.
Race 9 - NW8/100000LT Trot
(2) YANKEES BEAST wound up with zero chance in his first appearance of 2020 at the Meadowlands when mired in traffic in a slow pace. He still trotted a good last quarter and was red-hot through November and December down at Harrah's Philadelphia. He was also Bartlett's choice in this race. (5) PHOTO BOMBER comes back to Yonkers after winning at the Meadowlands on January 31. He has won locally before and was third against NW8's back on the 12th of December. (3) RACEACE disappointed as the favorite on 1-23 when he broke but did recover to finish third. He qualified well down at Freehold and remains a logical choice.
Race 10 - F&M NW7500L5/15000CLM/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Pace
(3) ROYALTYWESTHO had a winning debut for Burke on January 28. She does step up a notch here, but I think there's room for improvement. (1) LYNBAR ROSE N came up with a better effort last Thursday and now drops a level. (7) SUE'S NIGHT OUT handled NW5000L5's two straight times, once at Freehold and once at Yonkers, and now moves back to the NW7500L5 level. She rallied to finish fourth when last in this company on 1-21.
