SPOT PLAY- ROZEWOOD (6th)
Race 1 - F&M 10000CLM Pace
(2) JK KISSNTELL took one chance against the NW5000L5/optional $12,500 claiming class and couldn't rally. She drops back to the level of the claim, where she probably fits, and moves inside on the gate. (1) SEW PSYCHED followed in to finish third against $10,000 claimers last Thursday. She retains the pole position and her trainer had one race very well on Monday to finish second after an extended first-over bid. (4) SHES SPORTY A will probably be the favorite as she drops off the win against NW5000L5's, but she was all-out to hold on in that event, and I don't want to take a short price.
Race 2 - NW2/25000LT / NW4/50000LT Drawn Outside Trot
(1) ONDINE qualified nicely at the Meadowlands on January 24 and then backed it up with a solid rally at the Meadowlands the next week. He gets the pole here against a beatable group. (7) MUFASA AS is now with owner/trainer Jeff Gillis. He was able to make front from post seven last Thursday, so I expect Stratton to push out with him again. (4) CELEBRITY STALLONE went off as the favorite against NW3's on 1-16, so he merits consideration in this mixed NW2/NW4 group.
Race 3 - F&M NW10000L5/20000CLM/Winners of NW7500L5 in Last Start Pace
(4) BROWN BRINNY enjoyed a nice run of success at Yonkers last year, including taking her season's mark over the oval, and returns tonight off a win at Pompano. She was Bartlett's choice of many in here. (6) SEZANA N shifts over from racing against NW6, NW7, and NW8's to this class. She rallied to come in third at this level on 11-26 and then beat NW7500L5's on 12-5, so I think she should fit here at what could be a decent price. (3) MORE THAN MANY didn't have any chance in her last two as she was saddled with post seven both times. She has post relief here drawing the three, and that makes her more interesting.
Race 4 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(4) KAMWOOD LAUGHTER N has been a solid fit against these with two seconds and a third, and hooks up with a group she can threaten again tonight. She made 18 appearances in the winner's circle last season, so the veteran campaigner is no stranger to that, and I'll hope she can get the job done. (3) THE LADY SHERIFF drops and draws a better post in her third start for Banca. Any repeat of that effort on 1-21 would make her very tough to beat with Bartlett taking back over. (5) ROSELILY made front but got hounded most of the way and weakened in her first appearance for DiDomenico last Thursday. Both trainer and driver have experience with her now, and I think she remains usable.
Race 5 - NW4/50000LT Trot
(3) L DEES BELLA was bet strongly two weeks ago but disappointed when she broke before the start. She has only one other breaking performance in her history, so I will anticipate that was a one-off and put her on top. (1) SWAN IN THE VALLEY has been first-over in her last two races, so I think a change to the front-end tactics we saw back on 1-9 are probably coming from the pole position. (5) SQUEE HANOVER gets another chance to race against NW4's after taking a narrow win from first-over a week ago. I think this is a bit better group than he faced in that contest.
Race 6 - NW5000L5 Pace
(4) ROZEWOOD finally has some post relief instead of the outside draws that have plagued him at both Yonkers and the Meadowlands on the page. I think Brennan will have him in striking position and hopefully he has the same type of kick he did last Thursday. (2) SECRECY was Siegelman's choice of several in here and he probably gets the class drop he needs to be a major player, sliding down from the NW7500L5 group. (5) ROAR OF APPROVAL put in a better performance on the switch to the NW5000L5 level a week ago and kept Stratton in the bike.
Race 7 - NW5000L5 Pace
(6) CLOUDBREAK did not show much in either effort for DiDomenico against NW4's, but I do think this is an easier spot for him tonight, and I'll take a chance on him putting in an improved performance. (4) DAKOTA JACK nearly beat NW20000L5's back in August at Yonkers, rallying to finish second. He draws well here in his return to Westchester from Pompano and picks up Stratton. (3) MR WIGGLE PANTS has been at Yonkers before as well and makes his way east from Ohio tonight into the Andrew Harris barn. He did well to make the lead from post nine last time out at Miami Valley, so that type of speed should help his chances.
Race 8 - NW6/75000LT Trot
(1) COOL CLIFFORD couldn't handle the first turn in his Yonkers debut and made a break, but he's had no issue navigating half-mile tracks before, so I don't see as a major problem. He's a talented horse and I'll look for him to mind his manners tonight. (3) TOMMI CANU HEARME gets to slide down a notch from the NW8 class to meet up with NW6's. She should be in a position to get a good inside trip again. (6) FULL RIGHTS put in another quality performance a week ago, finishing third in a tight finish. He has plenty of early foot, and I look for Schnittker to use it.
Race 9 - F&M NW7900L5/15000CLM/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Pace
(2) SHADY CAROLINE came in second after putting in a long first-over grind over an off track. I wouldn't mind seeing her get the lead or a smoother trip tonight, but I believe she's the one to beat. (3) I WISH YOU WELL escaped off the rail in the lane and got up to win a week ago against NW5000L5's. She steps up here, but I don't think these types are too tough for her if she brings another good effort tonight. (8) CAVIART CHERIE gets some class relief but also moves outside. She was able to get to the rail in third from out here two back, so maybe Stratton can put her in play.
Race 10 - NW8/100000LT Trot
(2) TT'S D-JAY beat NW6 foes impressively at the Meadowlands and then was matched up against some tough horses from an outside post on 2-7. All of his wins last year came over half-mile tracks, so I think he might like the switch back to the smaller track and gets an inside post. Let's shoot for some value. (5) PHOTO BOMBER backed up his win at the Meadowlands two back with another score in his Yonkers return last Thursday. He remains in the same class and looks like a logical threat to triple up. (1) SEVEN KNIGHTS triumphed over NW8's two back and has post relief tonight. He also gets Bartlett back in the bike.
Race 11 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace
(2) TELLAWOMAN certainly appears to be another contender on the program for DiDomenico as she drops into a softer-looking spot tonight. Anything like her performances through January would be tough for the others to match. (1) FREEZE OUT gets class and post relief in this race and Bucci goes back to Stratton, who did well with her in November. She was just one-for-24 last year, so it's tough to back her for the win spot, but definitely consider underneath. (3) KEYSTONE NIKKI rolled to a facile win over $10,000 claimers for Allard last Thursday. She hikes up and loses Brennan here, and I think will need to improve off that mile last time out.
