Yonkers: Thursday 1/30 Analysis

Yonkers Logo 1.5

THURSDAY, JANUARY 30, 2020

MEET STATS: 30 - 89 / $165.50 (-$12.50)

BEST BETS: 5 - 8 / $15.30 (-$0.70)

SPOT PLAYS: 1 - 8 / $10.80 (-$5.20)

BEST BET-COOL CLIFFORD (3rd)

SPOT PLAY-WYNNFRITH (1st)

Race 1 - F&M 10000-12500CLM HCP Pace

(5) WYNNFRITH stepped up with a better effort last Thursday from post eight and now draws better here. Ruiz's horses have started to race better overall now, so I'll hope that trend continues. (1) JK KISSNTELL got parked the route up at Monticello and gave way, but won nicely two back and her lines against $12,500 claimers out at The Meadows should fit here too. She gets Bartlett as well. (6) MISS REAL IDEAL remains in good form and was second to a classy foe in Shezallapples A. Definitely usable.

Race 2 - NW4/50000LT Trot

(4) BLUE MAGIC won against NW4 when last seen at Yonkers on the 24th of October and has been battling against good competition at Harrah's Philly and the Meadowlands since then. She has good speed off the gate, which hopefully Kakaley can utilize. (2) L DEES BELLA has a start over the track now and came on to finish fourth. She gets major post relief off that effort. (3) SEXY WOW just held on a week ago to win against NW4's, sticks in the same class, and retains Bartlett. I will attempt to beat her at an expected low price.

Race 3 - NW8/100000LT / NW6 Drawn Inside Trot

(2) COOL CLIFFORD is now in the Allard barn and comes down from Woodbine Mohawk Park to Yonkers. He raced well in both starts up there so far in 2020 and was good enough to make the Ontario Sires Stakes Super Final last year against the likes of Hambletonian champion Forbidden Trade. (7) SWEET CHAPTER was really sensational in her 4-year-old debut a week ago, rolling by after a pocket trip and finishing up with plenty left. I think she has enough speed to get a spot from out here and should be dangerous. (1) TOMMI CANU HEARME had every chance to win after leading through an easy pace last Thursday but had to settle for second. She remains sharp, retains the rail, and is reunited with Brennan.

Race 4 - 12500CLM Pace

(2) COACH CAL kicked home strongly last Thursday to finish second. He didn't win a lot last year, but is drawn well here and should get some pace to chase. (3) PROLOGUE took advantage of the drop in class to win a week ago and at the same claiming level for DiDomenico. (5) MYIDEALSON N is another one from the Ruiz barn that was better last time out, finishing a gaining second from first-over against Prologue.

Race 5 - F&M NW5700L5/12500CLM Pace

(1) BERAZZLED likely needed that start on the 21st given the gap in her schedule and she shifts to the rail tonight. Another big threat for Allard on the card. (5) GINA GRACE N continues her slide down the class ladder and lands at the bottom level in this spot. She did show speed up at Saratoga back in December, so I wouldn't be surprised with some more aggressive handling tonight. (6) APOTHIC hasn't shown much for Harder yet outside of a third-place finish in her first start for him. She switches from NW6 to NW5000L5, so maybe that can help her take a positive step.

Race 6 - F&M NW5000L5/12500CLM Pace

(5) B FIFTEEN got trapped in on the inside and shuffled back last week, losing all chance. She gets a new set of hands with Bongiorno getting in the bike, and hopefully he can map out a winning trip. (3) PIRINEA'S PRINCESS regressed last week, but her race two back was solid, and she has Brennan back to drive again. (2) SUE'S NIGHT OUT kept Bartlett's services over my top pick and returns to Yonkers after a confidence-building win down at Freehold. She was in against NW7500L5's when last seen in Westchester.

Race 7 - NW5000L5 Pace

(3) WILD GOOSE CHASE went through the recent Meadowlands Winter Mixed Sale and is now being trained by Travis Alexander. He was facing better than this group over at the Meadowlands recently and won four of his five races in 2019 over the half-mile at Northfield. (2) CHUMLEE A isn't what he was when he was good enough to race in the Levy Series a couple years back, but he does have a history of success at Yonkers and is usable off that strong qualifier up at Monticello. (1) ABERDEEN HANOVER made front two weeks ago but faded to third in the stretch. I expect Vallee to have him well-placed or on the engine again.

Race 8 - NW5000L5 Pace

(2) MIDNIGHT LIGHTNING drops two levels tonight and usually does his best racing in the NW5000L5 class. The break last time out is a bit concerning, but it was out of character and over an off track, so I'll hope it was because of that. (1) GO COLLECT N wasn't as good last Thursday as he was back on 1-9. He returns to the rail this time, so that might keep him closer and allow Stratton to be more aggressive. (5) NOX VEGAS BLUECHIP failed as the favorite a week ago after cutting the fractions. Brennan drives this time, so I think similar tactics are coming.

Race 9 - NW6/75000LT Trot

(2) CREDIT FRAUD took back off the gate last Thursday and then finished well. She slides inside on the gate this time, and I'll look for trainer/driver Eric Abbatiello to have her in the mix. (3) CISCO PAL raced well but had the misfortune of running into sharp horses in Sweet Chapter and Gettin Messi a week ago. He gets away from those two and is definitely a threat. (8) SUMMIT CITY SWAN is another new entrant to Allard stable on tonight's card. She was a stakes winner in Indiana last year and competed in a couple Grand Circuit events, so she has some class. I could see her closing to hit the ticket.

Race 10 - F&M NW10000L5/20000CLM/Winners of NW7500L5 in Last Start Pace

(1) SHADY CAROLINE begins her 7-year-old campaign tonight. She has a qualifier under her belt over at Monticello and made it as high as the Preferred level at Yonkers late last season. (5) SLICK ARTIST A raced well over at the Meadowlands most recently, leading and finishing second to the rallying favorite. She has won at Yonkers before as well. (6) KAY'S DELIGHT worked out a pocket trip last week but couldn't find room until it was too late. She does step up here, but Bongiorno has been aggressive with her in her last two.
