(3) NORTHERN ASSASSIN A was game on the front end last week in his local return and now he goes for Banca off the claim while staying at a winning level. (2) WILD WEST goes back to the Brittany Robertson barn off the reclaim and the 4-year-old has been sharp for ages. (4) REACH FOR INFINITY was much better last week when dropping to the $12,500 claiming level but drawing outside of his main competition hurts. (1) NASSAU COUNTY figures to be close up and can complete a chalky superfecta.
Race 2 – NW2 or $25,000 lifetime
(2) MUFASA AS ships from Ohio for the Lorentzon barn and gets Bartlett in the bike; this is a formula that has clicked numerous times in the past. (4) THANKS FOR LEAVING gets leading driver Brennan in the bike tonight and could show improvement. (5) FRANKY TWO TIMES is much-improved with the hobbles added and he ships from Saratoga for Jordan Derue looking for three straight. (1) TENNESSEE TITAN arrives from Mohawk Park off a couple of good tries; he’s 0 for 20 and counting, however.
Race 3 – NW3 or $25,000 lifetime
(5) CISCO PAL faltered on the front end last out but the Erv Miller trainee can bounce back if not too hard-used in the early stages. (2) FRONTIER CREEDA misbehaved again last week; obviously the DiDomenico trainee will be a player if she minds her manners. (3) SKYWAY KON MAN was a good second last week and the Smedshammer trainee gets the catch-driving Siegelman in the bike tonight while getting needed post relief. (6) CLASSY GUY may be hampered by having some speed inside of him but after seeing what the Jenn Bongiorno barn has been doing recently it’s tough not to consider him.
Race 4 – F&M NW5000 in last 5 starts
(4) KEYSTONE NIKKI was nicely speed-tightened last week and perhaps the Garcia-Herrera trainee can build off that effort versus this lifeless bunch. (3) VH PRINCESS BREA disappointed as the heavy favorite upon arrival; is the DiDomenico trainee capable of better? (1) DEWAR N SODA has finished third in her last couple, which is an improvement. (7) MELANIE’S FILLY is usually a player at this level and figures to offer a healthy price.
Race 5 – NW4 or $50,000 lifetime
(4) WITH OUT A DOUBT was outfinished late after an aggressive try last week in her return to the overnight wars and a similar effort will get the job done here. (1) SWAN IN THE VALLEY has some speed with the best draw and Dube figures to use that to her advantage. (2) PHOTO BOMBER is another speedy type and is always well-behaved; Schadel figures to be sitting close to the action. (3) CHIP CHIP CONWAY sat in as the odds-on favorite and never had a chance when we last saw him; hard to gauge this NY bred.
Race 6 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(5) LINKJACK HANOVER finds a much more reasonable spot with some class relief while facing some questionable rivals; worth a long look. (4) OUTLOUD was much-improved last week and can build off that effort. (6) THROWNOUTOFBETTER was second best upon arrival for Team Bongiorno; player. (8) SCOUTS REPORT arrives from Canada without much current form and joins the Blackler barn with Bartlett driving; watch the board for clues.
Race 7 – F&M NW10000 in last 5 starts
(1) DIAMONDTOOTHGERTIE has been a new horse since moving to the Banca barn and she was Bartlett’s clear choice here; down the road. (2) SANDY’S BEACH returns to Yonkers for Allard and was a solid second when last seen here. (3) LK’S NANCY LEE may try using her early speed to grab the top, yield to the top choice and sit a nice pocket trip. (4) PATANJALI N gets class relief and Jordan Stratton back in the bike.
Race 8 – NW6 or $75,000 lifetime
(2) CERTIFY moved to the Lance Hudson barn and jogged up at Saratoga in a snappy 1:55; hard not to like his chances here. (5) FAVORITE UNCLE was a solid winner last week upon arrival and is an obvious player. (1) SOUTHWIND STORM had a useful local debut for Burke. (4) HORNS FOR THREE qualified effectively and could be a factor if he behaves himself.
Race 9 – NW5000 in last 5 starts
(7) CANBEC KINGKAZIMIR was right there two back versus a winner who would be 1/5 in here; veteran does have some early speed in his arsenal and I expect Bongiorno to have him in play versus this very shaky field. (5) FOREVER WORTH IT ships from Monticello where he was competitive at their top level and he gets a nice driver change to Brennan. (1) VAGANOVA was aggressively handled from the eight hole last week and now moves all the way inside. (2) HIGHVIEW CONALL N drops in class but doesn’t have much else going for him.
Race 10 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(2) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A has been keeping company with much better recently and was even a good second to Blood Brother last out two classes higher; with a reasonable trip he can take this. (5) GHOST DANCE took all the money upon arrival and failed miserably on the front end; I suppose he deserves another chance. (6) ROCKATHON hasn’t done much recently but he seems too talented to not eventually wake up. (1) OUR POSITANO N has been racing well out of town recently for Berry.
Race 11 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(2) DECISION DAY responded to the drop in class last week and looked good drawing off late; Saunders trainee can double up with a live trip. (1) ROCK N TONY has regained his old form with the move to the potent DIDomenico barn and he’s classy enough to handle the double-jump in class and take his third straight. (3) ABERDEEN HANOVER doesn’t win often but is usually around at the wire; include. (7) ACTING OUT is stuck outside but is good enough to sneak into the number.
