Yonkers: Sunday 7/15 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jul 14, 2018
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: P L JERICO (2nd)

Spot Play: LE TISSIER (3rd)

MEET STATS: 268 - 783 / $1,503.90

BEST BETS: 37 - 66 / $122.20

Race 1

(7) IN SECRET hails from a sizzling hot barn and two back he was a winner in a quick time over the added-distance; classy trotter should have a tactical edge here on his main rivals. (8) MARION MARAUDER is back from his sharp win at Northfield and we know he's best here and the one to beat, but NO PLACE OR SHOW WAGERING again? Really? Worth reminding everyone this is supposed to be a commingled race with the French. (6) WESLYNN DANCER was dead-game in victory last week but now tries the added distance and faces some tough ones.

Race 2

(3) P L JERICO has blown the doors off his competition in three straight since moving to the Burke barn; is he good enough to handle this assignment? I think so. (5) LORD CROMWELL was overmatched last week in stakes company and should go better here. (1) CONSOLIDATOR remains a player but is quickly running out of excuses.

Race 3

(10) LE TISSIER gets a monster driver switch to Sears and he's raced well here in the past. (8) TOBER seems to be a shell of his former self but he qualified decently in behind a couple of good ones and he may have some life left in those legs. (1) JACKS TO OPEN finds a better spot today; include.

Race 4

(9) SHOWMEYOURGUNS drops to the basement level and should respond accordingly, assuming a smooth enough trip from the second tier in this bulky field. (1) WILD SMILE also gets needed class relief and he hasn't been all that bad with better. (5) HERE'S THE MAGIC was a solid winner off the claim for Berkeley and he stays in for the same tag.

Race 5

(3) IDEAL ROCKY came up just shy last week and the Allard trainee seems overdue. (1) CONTROL TOWER has raced well for Surick since shipping out East from Ohio and he draws best as Bartlett's choice. (7) MIDWAY ISLAND hails from Burke and has been sharp but may be done in by the post; consider for a share.

Race 6

(4) ARCHANGEL THREE returns locally off a win at Philly for Burke and did race well here for a share three back; consider if the price is right in this competitive field. (5) MAXDADDY BLUE CHIP has a world of talent but is also a bit erratic at times; if he repeats last week's effort he can beat these. (2) SUMMER SIDE gets a nice driver upgrade to Zeron and draws well.

Race 7

(3) DEWYCOLORINTHELINE tumbles in class and is really supposed to beat these. (1) DYNAMIC EDGE has good speed but needs more late; he could sit a trip from this spot and hold his ground late. (2) PLATOON SEELSTER was a good second when last in with this type.

Race 8

(1) BETTOR ROCK ON N is still looking for that elusive first seasonal win and this may be the best spot he's seen in some time. (5) TALK SHOW is also long overdue and remains a threat for Bartlett/Banca. (4) LIGHTNINGONMYFEET drops back to the level of his last win.

Race 9

(7) FASHION CREDITOR has performed well with this type in the past and I don't see a ton of early speed signed up inside of him; can Bartlett take a shot and fire off the gate? (1) OSTRICH BLUE CHIP ships in off a good try at Pocono for Allard and the mare draws best. (8) RUBBER DUCK is probably the most talented in here but he has to overcome a tough spot today.

Race 10

(5) WINNING LINC was in a different zip code last week from the eight hole but he gets some post relief today and racing for the third consecutive week is probably a good sign. (1) HEEZ ORL BLACK N probably should have won last week but was nailed by a classy rival; he gets another crack from the rail and may be controlling the action. (2) BEACH MEMORIES was dreadful last week but he is right back in and gets class relief.
