Yonkers: Sunday 1/28 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jan 26, 2018
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: ALEXANDER HANOVER (7th)

Spot Play: RUN AND TELL PAP (6th)

MEET STATS: 32 - 93 / $215.20

BEST BETS: 5 - 8 / $17.60

Race 1

(6) COLONIAL ROAD has looked like a different horse in his two 2018 starts and he wouldn't be the craziest play here at a good price. (1) TRUE BLUE HALL doesn't look all that great on paper but the Allard trainee does draw best and Gingras is driving again. (3) FIERY LUSTRE N returns now at the basement claiming level off an even qualifier.

Race 2

(6) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN has raced deceptively well in his last few starts and Holland may look to get aggressive with him early. (3) THERAPUTIC stayed in and was buried last week in an added-distance event; he should be in line for a better trip today. (2) ROYAL BACHELOR steps up off a sharp win.

Race 3

(2) HOME'N DRY disappointed last week, never firing off cover after a second-tier start; I'm willing to give him one more chance here. (4) TACO TUESDAY needed last week's start after missing over a month; as long as he behaves himself he'll be a big player here. (3) FEARLESS MAN arrives from Canada, joins the Andrew Harris barn, has some speed and I assume the connections think he'll be a good fit at Yonkers.

Race 4

(3) PITTSTOP KIP may lack the class of some others here but I like those aggressive drives in his three local starts. (7) LE REVEUR N was put in play early but could not last the entire 1 1/4 mile distance; does Dube get aggressive again? (1) MUSCLES ON FIRE is quickly running out of excuses.

Race 5

(11) MONEY MAVEN has been absolutely super in his last two starts and clearly Gingras gets along great with him; gets the call to repeat despite the tricky starting spot. (4) ELYSIUM LINDY certainly has something to prove with this type but he can fire off the gate and set up a live trip. (8) MELADYS MONET was aggressively handled last week and dug in gamely on the front end but he's stuck in the eight hole with plenty of early speed signed up inside of him.

Race 6

(5) RUN AND TELL PAP moves into the streaking Lance Hudson barn via claim, stays at the same level and will be on the move early. (10) SEASONED SAINT was very game in defeat last week and is tough not to include here. (2) TIME OUTA JAIL has had little to offer recently but he does take a needed drop in class and may be able to shake free late for a share.

Race 7

(2) ALEXANDER HANOVER ships in for a barn that's been running very hot recently, lands a good post and faces a pretty blank field. (8) DIZZY RIZZY arrives for Surick where she's been racing well at the top level at Freehold; only problem here is the post. (10) ZAGSTER seems to have ability but also a breaking problem.

Race 8

(3) LMC MASS GEM has looked sharp winning his two starts since shipping in for Allard and he should have no problem taking another. (5) HYBRID HENRY made a nice move, closed well and upset upon arrival; strangely-bred trotter seems capable of landing another big piece. (10) ANDY M was second best to a sharp winner last week but now has to go the added distance from a second-tier start.

Race 9

(4) BROOKLYN BOND didn't fire last week versus better but he drops in class today and is reunited with Brent Holland. (5) STAR STUDDED CAST moves to the Lance Husdon barn which obviously makes him worthy of consideration. (2) PINE TAB returns to Yonkers for Surick and gets Gingras in the bike.

Race 10

(6) SEXY P V has made live moves in her three starts since moving to the Banca barn and while she probably should have won last week I'll give her another chance. (1) STEAL N GAS could have used a bit more gas in the late stages last week but it was an improved effort. (5) MASTER OF EXCUSES has been awful in his last two but note he switches back to his former trainer.
