MEET STATS: 496 - 1387 / $2,667.40
BEST BETS: 70 - 121 / $226.00
Race 1
(4) CRAZSHANA returns locally off a win versus a bit cheaper at Philly and the Bamond-trained trotter has had success here in the past; good starting post as well. (5) SUMATRA lost touch in his last local start but bounced back at Freehold and the classy gelding fits well here. (9) SMALLTOWNTHROWDOWN is much, much better than he’s been showing and maybe the change in scenery will help his cause.
Race 2
(6) WESLYNN DANCER tried to get going early as she was stuck at the back in an 11-horse affair that was single-file and she made a break on the move; Banca trainee has an Open Handicap win on her resume and she can handle these with smooth sailing. (9) CRAZYCAT added the hobbles, behaved himself and won; always a good angle. (1) WINNERESS has hit the ticket in his last five out of town and should fit well here.
Race 3
(11) DIZZY RIZZY may be a bit of a reach from this spot but the Surick trainee has been competitive with this type in the past and he meets a field begging to be beaten. (2) FREDDIE MAC was a ground-saving third last week versus similar but he’s usually good for one big run and figures to be put into play here. (10) GONNA FLY was stacked up with dull cover in his local return and didn’t fire but he seems capable of better; Bartlett’s choice.
Race 4
(1) KARETS was a solid second two back at this level and this distance then followed that up with a good effort at Pocono; he seems the one to beat from this spot. (3) DELCREST MASSY was put in play early last week and gave way as the winner rolled by but was game for second; Allard trainee should be a player again. (4) WATKINS failed to get involved in his local return but he lands a better post today.
Race 5
(7) SHAWNEE BEAUTY has been solid in her three local starts and now goes for an equally capable barn off the claim while staying at the same level. (5) MERRY HANOVER raced better last week when dropped to this level and the added distance may help. (2) MASSACAIA ships from Pocono without much form but seems capable of better and should fit well at this bottom level.
Race 6
(4) BALTIMOR AS has hit the board in his last three local starts with this amateur driver in the bike and perhaps with a live trip in this evenly-matched event he could pop at a price; 20/1 ML. (10) ON THE PODIUM has been around a long time and now goes for Allard off the claim; also listed at 20/1 here which makes him enticing. (7) FIJI coves off a trip-sitting win in a Billings event at Pocono.
Race 7
(5) LANDONFITZ and FOX VALLEY STEFFEN are a couple of gutsy veterans and either is capable on any given day; edge to the former who has been facing tougher overnight stock recently. (4) WINWOOD SCOUT is another recent Allard claim and he raced well in defeat in his first try with an amateur in the bike.
Race 8
(3) LEAN HANOVER has quickly proven capable with this type and having the post edge on his main rivals may make the difference here. (6) DW’S NY YANK was totally lost last week starting from the second tier but his prior form was fine. (5) ANDY RAY almost always shows up with a good effort.
Race 9
(3) ALWAYS A GOOD TIME has been just okay recently but did have a good effort at the flat mile distance three back and he seems capable of grinding a long way here. (2) TWO AM has serious ability for Todd and Tyler Buter and has last at Saratoga was solid. (7) LORD CROMWELL fits this level well but the outside draw may hurt him.
Race 10
(3) GIRL TALK just missed in her last two at Philly and looks well spotted here shipping in for Garcia-Herrera; Stratton’s choice. (4) APERFECTRUBY returns locally for good trotting connections but needs to pick up her game. (6) MISSIONOFTHEHEART safely beat cheaper upon arrival for Allard.
Race 11
(6) WINNING SHADOW raced well on the NYSS circuit and flashed solid speed in the final; gelding seems to have picked up his game off the Burke purchase and he deserves top billing here. (4) LION SAFARI AS brushed and crushed last out in an added-distance event; he’s missed three weeks, however. (3)) DEO has raced consistently since adding the hobbles.
Race 12
(2) EX HANOVER was a solid two-move uncovered winner upon arrival for top connections; no reason why the filly can’t repeat. (1) MEADOWBRANCH RICKY charged home for the win after watching a front-end battle; sharp. (5) SOUTHWIND CRUZE has been putting in good efforts for Team Bongiorno but can’t seem to seal the deal.
