Yonkers: Sunday 11/12 Analysis

Matt Rose|Nov 10, 2017
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: TEXICAN (10th)

Spot Play: KANTHAKA (3rd)

MEET STATS: 452 - 1284 / $2,445.90

BEST BETS: 62 - 109 / $205.20

Race 1

(9) LIFE STRIKES has been racing very well for Allard versus generally more seasoned foes and she may be a juicy enough price to take a chance with in this 11:25 A.M. opener. (2) MUSCLES ON FIRE is always right there but doesn't always win; don't accept a short price. (6) SIR JOHN F was a dominating winner last out versus a notch lesser; tough to ignore a Takter trainee.

Race 2

(9) NEW HEAVEN arrives off two big wins over at The Meadows with Lasix added and I assume Burke wouldn't ship him here to go the added distance if he thought the gelding couldn't compete. (1) CRESURREY has raced well in the NYSS and did win easily in an overnight event two back but that 7/5 morning line isn't all that appealing. (5) SOUTHWIND CRUZE moved to the Allard barn, added Lasix and raced well for second; he could be a player here.

Race 3

(10) KANTHAKA takes a needed drop in class and loves this added-distance; strong endorsement despite the tricky starting spot. (2) LUMINOSITY has loads of back class, a good post and may look to take these the distance. (6) CAULFIELD raced nicely when last at Yonkers and followed that up with two good efforts at Pocono.

Race 4

(5) RUBBER DUCK bounced back from a couple of poor efforts with a sharp win at Pocono and when right he's a legitimate Open-caliber horse. (4) LUCK O THE IRISH scored right off the bench then never got involved next out versus some tough rivals; he should be a player from this spot. (9) TRIUMPHANT'S CHIP has quietly had a nice season banking almost $100K and he can rally for a minor share here.

Race 5

(4) BINGO QUEEN drops in class and we all know she steps up with a big effort from time to time. (6) JACKS TO OPEN has been racing well in the top class at Freehold; Gingras drives. (5) MASTER OF EXCUSES looks cheaper than others but he debuts for Brittany Robertson off the claim and can show improvement.

Race 6

In a race with questionable favorites, (3) PC'S WILDCARD should be forwardly placed from this spot and could work out a live trip at a decent price. (1) I C CAVIAR will be a big threat if he minds his manners. (7) TORNADO TIM is still trying to find himself this season but the 10-year-old has plenty of back class.

Race 7

(3) BROOKLYN BOND returns to Yonkers, is reunited with Holland and is capable of a big effort at any time. (5) LILY'S SWAN POND raced well in his last couple and the Surick trainee has been competitive with better than these in the past. (8) XTATIC HANOVER is stuck outside but merits a mention off the Allard claim.

Race 8

(6) HOME'N DRY is in career form and looks for three straight Open wins; I'll trust that Bartlett will set him up with a live trip. (7) IN SECRET was no match to the top choice last out but clearly remains a strong threat. (2) TIGHT LINES has had a solid year for Jeff Gregory and has proven he can go with this type.

Race 9

(3) CRAZSHANA faltered late on the front end last out but he should be headed to the lead again and deserves another chance. (2) SPRINGBANK SAM N was game in victory last out at the added-distance, only his second win of the year; Tritton trainee must be included. (7) MELADY'S MONET qualified in good order but draws outside and may need a start or two.

Race 10

(1) TEXICAN exits NYSS competition still seeming relatively fresh and he should be good to go from this spot. (6) PINGALING arrives from Canada riding a three race win streak and joins the DiDomenico barn; consider. (5) CRITICAL MASS was a game winner last out at a big price.

Race 11

(5) DREAM MISSIVE put in a big effort up at Saratoga for his new connections and an effort similar to that one will be good enough to win here. (3) FLAMINGO PETE was second best after battling on the front end upon arrival. (6) DEJAROVER has flashed good speed in all recent local starts.
