Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(4) MACINTOSH N tried to leave from post seven last start but got hung to dry for his troubles; Stratton picks up the catch-drive tonight for Vallee and should have a clear path to the front from this spot. (6) GOKUDO HANOVER is best here and returns to the pari-mutuel wars at a reduced level off a willing qualifier; DiDomenico trainee obviously has a big shot here but won’t offer much value. (1) HUDSONANDBERNARD put in a steady effort last out but failed to deliver a knockout punch; he draws best and figures to land another share. (8) ART SCENE faltered on the front end with little excuse in his last two; he’ll likely be coming from off the pace and should offer a healthy price; consider underneath.
Race 2 – NW30300 in last 5 starts
(2) LORD CROMWELL gets much-needed post relief in his second start after dropping from the Open ranks and he returns to Bartlett; lots to like. (1) MISSISSIPPI STORM raced well in his last two to be third best and he lands the best post. (7) LINDSEY’S PRIDE didn’t fire last week but he switches back to Holland; post is a major concern but he should be coming late at a price. (6) IN SECRET was a winner when last at this level but he faces an uncertain trip with some speedy types drawn inside of him.
Race 3 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(5) FULLBACK tends to disappoint at times but he’s got the talent and is certainly fast enough; worth a try in this soft NW10000 race. (1) LORD OF MISRULE is the one to beat but he’s camera-shy and won’t offer any value. (6) JM JACK OF HEARTS dies fit well with this type and figures to be a healthy price. (4) TALBOTCREEKWHISKEY returns locally from Canada for an outfit that has plenty of success mainly with trotters (Luc Blais) and he does show a win over the half-mile two back.
Race 4 - $40,000 Claiming
(3) HIGHLAND TARTAN goes for another new barn tonight (Surick) and is a nose shy of a four-race winning streak; post edge on his main rivals will likely make the difference. (1) ABRAXAS BLUES A may have a bit to prove with this type but should be in line for a live trip. (6) WINDSONG JACK goes for Allard off the claim and was a little disappointing last week off a good pocket trip. (7) STOLEN CAR can go with these but seems to be up against it from this starting spot; small piece?
Race 5 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(4) SHNEONUCRZYDIAMND A was last seen locally getting beat a neck by The Real One in the Open and then was a tad overmatched in the Great Northeast Series in Pennsylvania; Croghan trainee should be able to handle these. (5) BADIX HANOVER came up huge beating lesser and obviously the switch to the DiDomenico barn has done wonders; is he sharp enough to handle better? (1) BLOOD BROTHER failed to get involved last week but obviously the post relief helps. (7) BRIGHT DIAMOND N has been rock-solid for Team Bongiorno but drawing outside figures to hurt his chances.
Race 6 – Open Handicap Pace
(4) THEARTOFCONFUSION A is fresh of his record-setting victory where he showed solid speed off the gate and never let up; he’s back up at the Open level but a similar effort can get it done here. (1) BENHOPE RULZ N was handled conservatively last week but finished up with solid pace; Vallee charge could be a threat from the best post. (6) MICKY GEE N is back at the Open level and back outside coming off that insane win last week. (3) THE REAL ONE had no chance last week but prior form has been solid,
Race 7 – Open Handicap Trot
(8) EYE OFA TIGER AS is assigned outside tonight (and probably rightfully so) but he’s had no problem overcoming the handicap in the past and he doesn’t face the strongest of fields tonight. (4) THERESADEMONINME may have tailed off in his last couple but this looks like a good spot to get well in a hurry. (5) NEW HEAVEN faltered versus lesser last out but he’s been competitive with these in the past and should be involved at some point in the mile. (6) DAYSON is sharp and bumps up off two consecutive off-the-pace scores. (1) BUEN CAMINO is better a level or two down but does land inside and can fold for a share.
Race 8 – 4YO Open Handicap
(4) IDEAL FLIP takes an ambitious step up in class after graduating from the NW ranks but he’s been very sharp and could be competitive with this type. (3) MACH N CHEESE was a clear second to a runaway last week and he’s certainly got the talent to get it done here. (8) AMERICAN HISTORY was a runaway on the front end last week, carving out an inside 1:20 2/5 three-quarters; post presents a problem, however. (6) SHNITZLEDOSOMETHIN was bottomed from the pocket last out; Dylan Davis had some solid prior efforts.
Race 9 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(2) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP took money from the eight hole last out but didn’t leave and was stuck in last throughout; veteran should be much more involved from this inside spot. (1) GUNPOWDER N paced mildly on the rim last week racing off cover. (3) BEACH BOOGIE is another with post relief who should be more involved.
Race 10 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(3) ACTING OUT was solid finishing second from a similar spot two back when had no chance from the back in that oversized field; Banca trainee goes back to Bartlett and looms large from this spot. (2) SOMEWHERENBROOKLYN N lacks the class of others but has blown out cheaper in two straight out of town. (5) OSTRO HANOVER hasn’t fired with his best recently but was close versus similar three back. (1) KIMANI N has been a bit of a money burner since arriving in the U.S.; consider if the price is right.
Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(1) IMAROCNROLLEGEND N hasn’t done much wrong since joining Team Bongiorno and he returns locally off a solid second to a good one at Pocono; I suspect he’ll be controlling the action tonight. (2) HAYDEN HANOVER has done some good things as a 4-year-old for Julir Miller and he’ll never be far back from this spot. (7) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N never fired last week in a strangely-run race but he wasn’t all that far off at the end; he’ll be a decent price and we’ll see if Bartlett can get him in play. (3) THE LUNCH PAIL has looked much, much better in his last couple.
Race 12 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(3) GRATIAN HANOVER had too much to do in his last start versus Open types but he crushed from a similar spot two back. (1) HAVEFAITHINME N steps up off a well-rated front-end score and the Godinez trainee draws best. (5) MILITARY MASTER A gets Stratton back in the bike for his man Lance Hudson; consider. (7) ALLUNEEDISFAITH N was facing better when last seen locally; post hurts, however.
