MEET STATS: 289 - 817 / $1,618.10
BEST BETS: 40 - 70 / $134.90
Race 1
(1) DEMOCRACY N has been going pretty well of late and he draws best in a race with no standouts. (3) HILLBILLY HANOVER isn't the most prolific of winners and he needs a good setup but he is capable, especially from the improved post. (5) MY MIND IS MADEUP has done nothing in his last few tries at this level but at least he gets Bartlett in the bike tonight.
Race 2
(4) MAJOR BUCKS drops a notch in price tonight and his efforts two and three back were solid. (2) MEMORY GAME gets major post relief and does have good early speed. (6) WESTERN BAYAMA has really tailed off of late but he does drop in class and picks up Bartlett.
Race 3
(2) BLOOD BROTHER drops in class, moves inside and is really supposed to have his way with these. (1) DOWNTHEHIGHWY is up in class off a loss but he should be able to stay close to the top choice throughout from this spot. (4) MR HASANI N didn't fire with his best last week but still managed to hit the ticket.
Race 4
(3) THAT'S MY OPINION was in an impossible spot last week and can be excused for that effort; post relief should make a huge difference tonight. (2) SETTLEMOIR looks for two straight at this level with Bartlett driving but note he was tiring at the wire last week. (1) RANCOUSY is a proven entity with these and he draws best.
Race 5
(2) NEXT SUCCESS is back in for a tag after finishing decently in the 4YO Open last out; he has a post edge on his main rivals. (4) BLADE SEELSTER is in raging form and may be able to handle the hike in class. (3) ONE THROUGH TEN finished mildly up the rail last week and he should be sitting close up again.
Race 6
(5) BAKERSFIELD had no chance last week but his prior two starts were solid and he's proven he belongs at this Open level; fires early? (6) ROCKIN RON is back locally off a good effort last out at Saratoga; note he was upset by the top choice two back. (8) SOMEWHERE IN L A took a well-deserved week off after that rugged effort in the Gerrity but the eight hole may seal his fate tonight.
Race 7
(1) HOLY GRAIL N was a strong and well-meant winner versus lesser last week; import may be sharp enough to take another. (3) WINDS OF CHANGE finally put it together last week for Banca; he returns to Bartlett and should be on the move early. (2) MOONLITEONTHEBEACH hung mightily in the late stages last week which was surprising considering his current form; use underneath.
Race 8
(3) WESTERN FAME has a clear path to the lead tonight and the Takter trainee should take care of business versus these. (5) PRETTY BOY HILL was very good last week rallying for second. (4) ST LADS MOONWALK was second best to Sapphire City last out but was tiring late.
Race 9
(2) SANTA FE BEACHBOY, much like stablemate Blood Brother earlier on the card, gets much-needed post relief while facing softer. Levy participant should handle these. (1) MCERLEAN has been feeling better lately and Vallee has won with him in the past. (3) PARNU HANOVER returns locally looking for three straight; sharp.
Race 10
(2) CAVIART LUCA was supposed to win last week on the dropdown and did manage to prevail; bump back up in class doesn't really scare me. (3) THE REV could not threaten in the Open in his last two starts; he did beat similar three back. (1) SHANE ADAM has hit the board in all five starts off the Banca purchase.
Race 11
(2) LONG LIVE ROCK raced steadily throughout last week and the Allard trainee gets another crack from an inside post. (1) NUCLEAR DRAGON was simply second best last week to a sharp rival (when I had him keyed everywhere in the top spot); threat from the rail with Bartlett. (8) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN really hasn't his high gear since coming back from the brief vacation and the eight hole doesn't help here.
Race 12
(2) ALLBEEF N NOBULL was too bar back to threaten last week and his prior start he was second best to P H Supercam; move back inside makes him an obvious threat. (1) DOJEA SOLO has the most speed and the best draw; threat to take these the distance. (6) NEWBIE could be a little more involved tonight; we'll see what Bartlett does off the gate.
