Yonkers: Saturday 8/27 Analysis

Matt Rose|Aug 25, 2016
Yonkers logo

MEET STATS: 289 - 857 / $1,605.40

BEST BETS: 38 - 71 / $129.20

Best Bet: NEWBORN SASSY (9th)

Spot Play: CASIMIR JITTERBUG (3rd)

Race 1

(3) SNAP TO IT A has been reasonably sharp recently without a victory to show for it; the class and post relief can get him over the top. (4) BADIX HANOVER has ridden the rail in his two local starts with on-the-board results; similar trip could occur tonight. (5) BAKERSFIELD has raced very gamely on the rim in his last two.

[DRF HARNESS LIVE: Real-time insights from the DRF Harness team this Saturday at 7:00 p.m.]

Race 2

(2) RONNY BUGATTI is sharp and draws well; he seems most logical to take this as the favorite but he's failed in the past in a similar scenario. (4) KEYSTONE HONOR needed last week's start after breaking the start prior when he was primed to make a run; he can reach from this improved post. (1) KINGS BARNS hasn't done much in his last couple but it's hard to ignore anything from the Allard barn.

Race 3

(5) CASIMIR JITTERBUG looked like lock-city last out but found a way to lose; he can redeem himself at a much better price. (4) SECOND WIND N is back from a failed try at Pocono but his last two local efforts were super, including upsetting the top choice. (7) SCOTT ROCKS has loads of speed and class; must include.

Race 4

(1) KINDOFABIGDEAL probably should have been closer to the winner last week but a similar effort with a live trip can get it done. (2) REUBEN BROGDEN N gets needed class and post relief plus Sears in the bike; very logical. (3) SOMEWHERE FANCY is up in class off a win and has always raced well over this track.

Race 5

(7) FEEL THE NEED A gets yet another big test tonight but so far the import has passed every one with flying colors; stay on the bandwagon. (1) MELMERBY BEACH gets a nice post assignment here and will be used aggressively early to protect position. (6) P H SUPERCAM finished decently considering he was chasing the speedy winner from the rim; Bamond-trained millionaire must be considered.

Race 6

Hambletonian winner (3) MARION MARAUDER is here for the Yonkers Trot and I have to believe as long as he minds his manners in his debut over the half-mile oval he'll prove best. (1) IRON MINE BUCKY was a Hambo finalist and he followed that up with a stellar effort in defeat in the Colonial consolation; threat from the inside spot. (4) LAGERFELD hails from Takter and has quietly banked over $500K in his career. (2) SMALLTOWNTHROWDOWN has been super in NYSS tests and has plenty of half-mile experience.

Race 7

(4) CELEBRITY EVENTSY has really come into her own of late and the versatile trotting filly should be forwardly placed from this spot; top billing. (6) WINDOWSHOPPER was everybody's sneaky pick in the Hambo Oaks but she gapped and broke; clearly she has talent but now she has to handle the half-mile track and may have too far to come. (1) WILDFLOWER has speed, seems well behaved and draws best.

Race 8

(2) UNDERCOVER STRIKE gets serious post relief with the lucky inside draw; veteran has been sharp for ages. (5) MELADY'S MONET gave way when pressed on the front end last week; clearly he's better from off the pace. (8) E R ELLIE has been a model of consistency all season and I'll throw her in underneath for some value.

Race 9

(3) NEWBORN SASSY has been razor-sharp in all recent and clearly looks best here; connections look for back-to-back Lady Maud wins. (2) APPLE BOTTOM JEANS has loads of speed and an inside draw; filly should be in line for a live trip and complete a chalky exacta. (5) HUG A DRAGONESS ships in for Burke and could compete for a minor share.

Race 10

(7) LUCK BE WITH YOU was a solid second to Mel Mara last week and just missed here the start prior; Oakes trainee will be firing early. (4) TAKE IT BACK TERRY ended up uncovered and chasing Feel The Need A last out; could be second best again. (1) MCERLEAN didn't fire in his last two after a solid effort the start prior; inside post assignment should help.

Race 11

(5) COOPERSTOWN flashed his usual early speed last week then was bottomed a bit from the pocket; Bartlett picks up the drive tonight and they should be forwardly placed again. (4) ARTISTIC MAJOR was a solid second last out nipping the top choice at the wire; Steve Elliott trainee has been good in practically every start this season. (2) MAKE SOME LUCK could not last on the engine last week but he should be close to the pace again.

Race 12

(1) E Z NOAH draws best and can top these if the Allard trainee brings his 'A' game. (6) SOMEWHERE IN L A takes a needed drop from the Open ranks and note he did beat that type four back. (2) FOOL ME ONCE is always a factor when drawn inside.
