Best Bet: DOCTOR BUTCH (8th) Spot Play: GRATIAN HANOVER (9th) MEET STATS: 355 - 986 / $1,975.20 BEST BETS: 48 - 84 / $158.80 Race 1 (5) SETTLEMOIR finds a weak and questionable field of NW10000 types tonight and seems way overdue to awaken; I'm not running to the window to bet anything in here, however. (1) MAGNUM J is the most logical dropping in class and drawing best; Doug McNair is listed to drive for his father. (6) BETTOR ROCK ON N has been very poor in recent efforts but we know he's much better than that; improvement seems possible. Race 2 (5) STOLEN CAR was hounded a long way by a longshot who ultimately won last out but the veteran has been sharp for ages and deserves another try. (4) CHEYENNE JEFFREY has also been razor-sharp but he really should have won his last start and he figures to be overbet here. (3) ONE THROUGH TEN didn't fire his best from off the pace last out; does he revert to speed tactics from this spot? Race 3 (5) GIVENUPDREAMING takes a meaningful drop in class tonight and Stratton is back driving; a repeat of any number of his recent efforts should be enough to get the job done. (1) ABNER THE GREAT gets needed post relief for Team Bongiorno and should be a major speed threat. (3) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A is on the cheap side but that was a really nice closing effort last week. Race 4 (6) TORRID BROMAC N was a tripped-out winner two back at this level and was Bartlett's choice; big threat if he can repeat that effort. (3) MOONLITEONTHEBEACH returned to Yonkers and beat up on lesser; obviously the veteran has the back class to contend here. (4) ELWELL is a quality horse who is also up in class off a win and he seems to be rounding into top form. Race 5 (5) NUTCRACKER SWEET lands the outside in a race where he only has to beat one to make the final but I don't think he would even have to work that hard to come out on top; Stratton picks up the drive for Takter. (1) BABES DIG ME has been a fringe player this season but he clearly has ability; time to step it up. (4) TOPVILLE OLYMPIAN battled hard two back in a NYSS event, then added Lasix and jogged last out. Race 6 (4) JIMMY FREIGHT was supplemented for $30,000 to the Messenger and assuming he handles the turns here from this spot he can safely take this and advance to the final. (5) STAY HUNGRY is on the pacing Triple Crown trail having taken the Cane Pace from well off the pace; only concern here is he may be at a tactical disadvantage from this spot. (1) SPRINGSTEEN did not fire at all when the pace quickened in the Milstein at Northfield and he's been kind of hard to gauge throughout his career but he was a winner in his last Yonkers start. Race 7 (6) GREAT VINTAGE took last week off after going wire-to-wire and the gutsy veteran always has to be considered when he has a slight post edge on his rivals. (7) SOMEWHERE IN L A made a successful return to the Open ranks and clearly he's a threat to repeat. (8) BIT OF A LEGEND N is back from his trip to Indiana where he certainly didn't disgrace himself but he is stuck all the way outside; hard to use him on top but hard to dismiss him. Race 8 (1) DOCTOR BUTCH was very game in defeat last week, getting run over late after a long uncovered move; he should have a much smoother trip tonight. (3) CAVIART LUCA faltered on the front end last out but still remains a player from this spot. (5) DREAM OUT LOUD N has been feeling good recently and can be included on all tickets. Race 9 (2) GRATIAN HANOVER moves back inside off a couple of lost efforts from tough posts versus better; he should be ready to roll from this spot. (1) CONTROL TOWER closed with a real purpose in his last two; player. (7) PACING MAJOR N gets class relief and is reunited with Stratton but is stuck all the way outside. Race 10 (4) ARQUE HANOVER never got involved last week from the outside post, his first off the Allard claim; I'll give him a look here from a much more realistic spot. (3) ROCK ABSORBER was very game in defeat last out for a hot barn. (1) SPORTY SPOOK A gapped cover last week while looking for two straight upset wins; from this spot he may save ground looking to shake free late. Race 11 (4) STORMONT CZAR A gapped two tough ones last out but was sharp the start prior in his U.S. debut; he should be a slightly better price of the contenders here. (1) TRAVEL PLAYLIST is up in class off a very game win last week and he's been solid in all five Yonkers starts this year. (6) MISTER DAYTONA N returns off a win upstate and he can go with these. Race 12 (5) MIDWAY ISLAND has raced well in his last two versus similar for Brennan/Burke and he faces no standouts in here; worth a try. (1) WESTERN HILL was a big upset winner last out at Pocono and had no realistic chance in his last two Yonkers tries. (3) DOWNTHEHIGHWY may be a bit cheaper than some of these but he sure has been sharp out of town. [DRF HARNESS NEWSLETTER: Sign Up for the FREE DRF Harness Newsletter.
