Yonkers: Saturday 8/18 Analysis

Matt Rose|Aug 16, 2018

Best Bet: BLOW A CLOUD N (1st)

Spot Play: CAVIART REAGAN (8th)

MEET STATS: 341 - 950 / $1,921.60

BEST BETS: 47 - 81 / $156.60

Race 1

(3) BLOW A CLOUD N lands in a good spot in a pretty soft NW10000 race; he was an odds-on winner from a similar spot a couple of months ago. (5) MOHAWK WARRIOR rallied well for a small share in a fast mile last out; he seems like a player here with Bartlett. (4) BIG JER flashed speed last week to set up a good pocket trip and he could be aggressive early again tonight.

Race 2

(3) TRAVEL PLAYLIST has looked pretty sharp since arriving at Yonkers and he was Bartlett's choice over a classy Banca trainee. (1) ROCK ON MOE just missed two back and usually gives a good accounting of himself from inside posts. (3) DREAM OF LUCK was close up at the finish after an uncovered trip last week and this is the best post he's seen in a while.

Race 3

(3) POINTOMYGRANSON gets needed class relief as he drops into this suspect NW20000 division; let's see if top Down-Under driver Dexter Dunn can point him to the lead. (6) LORD OF MISRULE is usually more effective from inside posts but this race looks like a crapshoot and he's proven at this level. (1) HIGHLAND TARTAN should be close up throughout and can be included underneath.

Race 4

(7) BLATANTLY BEST has been very good since returning to Yonkers and joining the Banca barn; there doesn't seem to be that much early speed in here and I would expect Bartlett to try to hustle him away from the gate. (4) BETTING EXCHANGE doesn't have the greatest winning profile but he's been close up in his last four. (3) MCSPIDEY has had his moments from time to time and he should be a decent price.

Race 5

(3) ROCK ABSORBER returns to Yonkers off a couple of big efforts versus cheaper at Pocono and this barn has been pretty hot recently. (1) CARRACCI HANOVER gets needed post relief but he can't seem to get the job done for this barn; I'm inclined to use him underneath only. (4) SPORTY SPOOK A upset last week at 13/1 and miraculously I was actually on board; he's sharp enough to be a player again.

Race 6

(7) EVENIN OF PLEASURE was scratched sick last week but he's right back in the box so I assume he's good to go; outside assignment obviously hurts but we may see a halfway decent price tonight. (6) ALWAYS AT MY PLACE is as steady as they come for Brennan/Burke. (3) MCERLEAN has been razor-sharp recently and just missed in last week's Open after a long uncovered move; veteran is obviously a player from this spot.

Race 7

(4) DOCTOR BUTCH held his own versus Open types recently and the Banca trainee can do it from on or off the pace. (3) AMERICAN BOY N gets a bit of a test for class looking for three straight. (2) PACING MAJOR N also gets a bit of class relief but he did come up a bit short last week off a good trip; Siegelman subs for Stratton again on the Tritton trainee.

Race 8

(3) CAVIART REAGAN has proven in his last two that he belongs with this type and the post relief can get him over the top. (4) MAC'S JACKPOT just missed last week after a game uncovered try and he's another who gets lucky with the post draw. (1) AIR STRIKE lands inside and could be an early speed threat.

Race 9

(3) ORILLIA JOE had willing pace in traffic last week, which was a good thing to see after a poor effort and some missed time; veteran may be the best price of the contenders. (4) ANOTHER DAILY COPY was an easy winner at this level four back. (2) AZUL POOL was outbattled by the well-rated winner last week and he's another who fits here that can take this with a good trip.

Race 10

(4) WESTERN DYNASTY gets much-needed class relief and Barteltt will probably be looking to take these coast-to-coast. (1) SEVENS HOPE A is another who has been facing better here recently and the rail spot obviously helps. (7) ALOTBETTOR N may well be done in by the poor post but he will be a good price and maybe he can sneak into the exotics.

Race 11

(3) RUN ONEOVER N has been poor in his last couple but he's been known to reverse his form in a hurry and I'm not ready to give up on him. (4) SIR PUGSLEY was a good second to Somewhere In L A at this level three back. (5) ROCK THE NITE seems like he can go with these but he has missed some time; not very enticing at his 2/1 morning line.

Race 12

(2) VORACITY didn't fire his best shot last week as the leader got away cheap but I'll give the Burke trainee another shot. (5) MACH IT SO has too much class to ignore and I suspect he'll be put into play at some point. (3) TJ BLAST still seems to be looking for the proper classification but he should be close up throughout from this spot.
