Yonkers: Saturday 7/22 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jul 20, 2017
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP (9th)

Spot Play: MISTER DAYTONA N (10th)

MEET STATS: 263 - 745 / $1,479.20

BEST BETS: 36 - 64 / $122.60

Race 1

(1) SEELEY MAN is still searching for the winning spot to get off the 2017 schneid after posting a perfect record last year; he draws best here in a field full of question marks. (4) PROVOCATIVEPRINCE N is the horse to beat but he loses his regular driver tonight. (2) PRETTY BOY HILL didn't fire last out but he should be closer to the action tonight.

Race 2

(1) MCERLEAN looked like the Mcerlean of old last out, easily grinding down the leader to post his first seasonal victory. He's classy enough to repeat versus better. (4) FIVE CARD DRAW N has raced well since moving to the Garcia-Herrera barn and he's had some success locally in the past. (5) HOT ROD DYLAN was used hard upon arrival and went down stubbornly; threat.

Race 3

(1) WAVES OF FIRE A raced willingly at a big price two back in his U.S. debut and now he draws best while picking up Sears; I suspect he'll be live tonight from this spot. (4) GIVENUPDREAMING returns locally at a reduced level and he does seem like one of the top contenders here. (2) MICKEY HANOVER returns from Canada for co-owner Dube; he has always been the erratic type but his best effort can take this.

Race 4

(3) ELWELL raced very well last week and though he isn't exactly a winning machine there's really nobody that scary in here. (5) GRATIAN HANOVER returned to familiar connections and beat cheaper in two straight; sharp. (2) MY MIND IS MADEUP won as the chalk last out at Plainridge and he does fit with this type.

Race 5

(3) WESTERN BAYAMA hasn't been particularly good recently but also hasn't been awful. Perhaps the post relief can get him over the top in this questionable event. (6) RANCOUSY has raced well in all recent at this level and would be my top pick if not for the post; Holland's choice. (4) BLAISE MM HANOVER went wire-to-wire last week and can certainly repeat but there likely won't be much value here.

Race 6

(3) ARTMAGIC picked up a small share in the Graduate, facing the best 4-year-olds on the continent. Bamond trainee was razor-sharp locally prior to that effort. (2) NEXT SUCCESS is arguably in career form and the recent $30K claim could fit well with these. (4) WESTERN DYNASTY was a sharp winner versus lesser just five days ago.

Race 7

(2) SECOND WIND N drops a notch in claiming price and gets a much better post; our old friend Ross Wolfenden can steer this Tritton trainee home from this live spot. (6) DREAMLANDS ART goes back to Dube and does fit well with these; price should be right. (3) B'S WEDDIE was flying home late last out at a huge price; consider him for some value on the bottom of your ticket.

Race 8

(6) EVENIN OF PLEASURE raced very well in his local debut, his first start for the Burke barn; veteran can take the next logical step tonight. (2) SOTO gets a nice post assignment and should be handled aggressively from this spot. (4) BAKERSFIELD has been a new horse since moving to the Garcia-Herrera barn.

Race 9

(5) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP exits stakes company and jogged against similar when last seen locally. (7) CAVIART LUCA never got involved last week, his first start off the bench. More can be expected tonight. (6) SCOTT ROCKS also gets some class relief and can land a minor share.

Race 10

(4) MISTER DAYTONA N got brutalized from post eight last week upon arrival; post relief here can help. (2) ST LADS MOONWALK has raced well at Yonkers in limited appearances. (3) BETTING EXCHANGE has never been a prolific winner but he does drop in class and picks up Sears.

Race 11

(2) RODEO ROCK has transitioned nicely into a legit aged pacer and he was a solid winner versus lesser in his last local appearance. (6) BETTOREVER was the victim of a rough trip last week; prior three efforts were super. (1) QUALITY CLOSER has moved up the class ladder with a nice form spree; inside draw makes him a player again.

Race 12

(4) BLOOD BROTHER loses Bartlett but can make up for that with the class and post relief. (3) P H SUPERCAM was pretty game in defeat last week after taking on plenty of pressure. (2) COOPERSTOWN was a good second to Great Vintage last out.
