Yonkers: Saturday 7/20 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jul 18, 2019
Yonkers Logo 1.5

SATURDAY, JULY 20, 2019

2019 STATS: 314 - 733 / $1,333.70 (-$132.30)

BEST BETS: 35 - 63 / $103.30 (-$22.70)

Best Bet: TIGER BARON (9th)

Spot Play: ART HISTORY (2nd)

Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5 starts

(2) TWIN B SPEED DIAL returns locally with both class and post relief, usually a recipe for success, and Brennan returns with the drive. (5) HALF A BILLION has been lightly raced the last couple of seasons but he’s got some ability and he ships from Saratoga to join the Banca barn and was Bartlett’s choice. (6) SOTO dropped and popped last week and he’s certainly got the class to repeat. (3) BOUNDING DRAGON finished third last out and should be able to hit the ticket again; barn is struggling locally, however, so use caution.

Race 2 – NW10000 in last 5 starts

(2) ART HISTORY did the best he could to pick up a check last week from the eight hole but he’s been very live in last two tries from inside posts at this level; top pick despite Marohn opting off. (5) MILLIONDOLLAR WAVE flashed unknown solid speed from the outside post last week and was a good second; he’s a live player for a barn looking to get off the seasonal schneid. (3) BURNING SHORE has been sharp and lands in a more realistic spot. (1) SUNKEN TREASURE gets major post relief and will be a player.

Race 3 – NW20000 in last 5 starts

(1) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N was a good trip-sitting second last out at this level and he’s reunited with Brennan; import looks like the one to beat. (6) ROCK THE NITE has been live out of town and note he was an odds-on winner at this level when last seen locally; value play? (5) ABERDEEN HANOVER has been sneaky-good of late and could hit the ticket at a price with a smooth trip from Vallee. (3) LOCKTON LUCK A gets needed post relief for Stratton/Hudson.

Race 4 – NW20000 in last 5 starts

(7) FASHIN BYTHEBEACH hasn’t exactly been tearing it up lately and he lands a tough outside post but this NW20000 came up pretty weak tonight and maybe Stratton will try handling him aggressively. (2) LORD WILLOUGHBY A wasn’t bad last week for Stalbaum and this barn finally did come through with a win the other night; consider. (4) JM JACK OF HEARTS has squandered good draws in his last three but he wasn’t that far off in those races; Stafford trainee should fit here. Use the “All” button for fourth…

Race 5 – NW20000 in last 5 starts

(4) BLOOD BROTHER has raced well in his last few without a victory to show for it and Brennan sticks with the veteran here. (5) MACHIATTO A bumps up off a sharp win where he picked off a ‘classier’ rival and the Jenn Bongiorno trainee gets Bartlett in the bike tonight. (1) CAPOZZO is back up in class off a win but he can be competitive with this type. (6) BETTOR THAN SPRING gets some needed class relief and the 4-year-old will be a good price.

Race 6 – Open Handicap Trot

(4) IN SECRET dropped and popped last week (at a very square price) and he’s a proven Open winner. His good early speed can give him a tactical advantage over some others in here. (4) MELADY’S MONET had no chance last week but trotted home well; it’s tough not to include this rugged veteran. (7) WILL TAKE CHARGE got it all his own way last week but couldn’t close the sale; I suppose he deserves another look. (3) NEW HEAVEN was surprisingly totally uninvolved last week after winning his two starts prior versus lesser; post relief has to get him in play here, no?

Race 7 – Open Handicap Pace

(5) CAVIART LUCA fired to the front last week, released (4) SCOTT ROCKS and was simply second best from there; I don’t think anyone would be shocked if he was able to turn the tables tonight. The latter kicked home nicely after being well-rated in his local return and he’s certainly capable of repeating. (3) THE REAL ONE took zero money and was going nowhere last out; post relief will keep the Lachance millionaire within striking distance. (6) ALLYOUNEEDISFAITH N held well off an uncovered race last week chasing the top two in here; import remains sharp.

Race 8 – 4YO Open Handicap Pace

(6) TURBO HILL never got involved last week but was a solid closing second the week prior; with some aggressive early handling from Goodell (which seems possible from this spot) the 4-year-old could be a big player here. (7) ALBERGO HANOVER has been razor sharp for Jenn Bongiorno and Brennan gets the call tonight with Joe B out of town; he’ll make his presence felt at some point. (4) ROCKATHON steps up sharp and may be ignored in the wagering with Beyer catch-driving. (3) BO MACH has been right there in his last three and gets Stratton in the bike for his new connections.

Race 9 - $40,000 Claiming

(5) TIGER BARON may have been a winner last week if he had gotten through along the rail; give him another chance. (3) WINDSONG JACK has Siegelman back listed looking for two straight. (8) HIGHLAND TARTAN landed on an impossible trip last week and he’s outside again bit should offer a nice price. (2) WICK N was game in defeat last week and draws well again.

Race 10 – NW30000 in last 5 starts

(4) SUCH AN ANGEL wasn’t all that good in his last few local tries but he returns sharp and should be an okay price despite being listed as the morning-line favorite. (3) SMALLTOWNTHROWDOWN takes a needed drop in class from the Open and clearly looks like the one to beat. (5) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN was a well-rated winner last week and could be there again, probably from off the pace. (1) BUEN CAMINO has the class to go with these.

Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5 starts

(1) I’M SOME GRADUATE had a very effective tightening mile off the layoff and should be ready to roll tonight from this spot. (3) GRATIAN HANOVER was dead-game in victory last week and can certainly repeat. (4) BIT OF A LEGEND sat the rail with little to offer in a needed start; will he show more tonight? I hope so. (7) DR J HANOVER steps up and is stuck outside again off a monster win and he loses his regular driver; maybe he can squeeze out a share at a price.
