Yonkers: Saturday 7/13 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jul 11, 2019
Yonkers Logo 1.5

MEET STATS: 303 - 698 / $1,271.10 (-$124.90)

BEST BETS: 32 - 60 / $93.60 (-$26.40)

Best Bet: IMAROCNROLLEGEND N (4th)

Spot Play: IN SECRET (11th)

Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5 starts

(4) ODDS ON DELRAY just missed in a brave effort two back at this level and the Alagna trainee is really supposed to beat these; short price, however. (3) MACHIATTO A returns locally for Team Bongiorno after flashing good speed out of town; he’ll be on the move early. (2) DEMOCRACY N gets needed post relief and was Brennan’s choice; veteran could hang around for a share. (1) WAVES OF FIRE A is back up in class off a game uncovered score but hasn’t really done much recently at this level.

[MEADOWLANDS PACE: Free Harness Eye PPs, 10% Rebate on WIN wagers & Live Video for the entire Meadowlands Pace card on Saturday.]

Race 2 – NW10000 in last 5 starts

(5) MOHAWK WARRIOR was going nowhere in his last two starts from outside posts versus better; move inside and drop in class makes him a logical contender. (1) KIMANI N took the money in his U.S. debut but failed to fire off live cover; he drops and will likely attract heavy attention at the windows again. (6) DOJEA SOLO showed off his good speed last week and he can land another minor share tonight. (4) VORACITY has been a disappointment but did show good energy in that qualifier.

Race 3 - $40,000 Claiming

(7) HIGHLAND TARTAN has been an ATM machine since the DiDomenico claim and actually paid a great price last week; why can’t he win again? (5) TIGER BARON raced well to be second best to the top one last out; he could complete the number again. (4) WINDSONG JACK raced well two back and does fit with this type; Bartlett gets the drive tonight. (2) SOMETIMESAWINNER is up in class in his local return for Allard but has been in good form.

Race 4 – NW20000 in last 5 starts

(6) IMAROCNROLLEGEND N pretty much jogged last out versus similar and I don’t think the move to the outside will hurt him. (1) CHACHING HANOVER is not the most prolific winner but he draws best and will be close to the front throughout. (5) IDEAL COWBOY rallied well for a share in the race won by the top choice; chance for a piece again. (4) TYMAL PEACEMAKER has raced well since joining the Lachance barn but he faces tougher here.

Race 5 – Open Pace

(3) ALLUNEEDISFAITH N got absolutely torched last week on the front end but the recent import was rock-solid closing the start prior; Bartlett drives tonight and he may be set up nicely from just off the pace. (1) SCOTT ROCKS returns from Pennsylvania and the veteran was a winner when last here; landing the rail in this open draw certainly doesn’t hurt. (6) CAVIART LUCA raced his guts out last week and didn’t tire until late; Burke trainee is a proven fit with these but the only problem is the post. (5) PROVEN DESIRE looks to repeat for Allard and should offer a bit of value if he does so.

Race 6 – Open Handicap Trot

(2) WINNING SHADOW certainly did nothing wrong last week, other than lose by a neck. Burke trainee lands inside of his main competition and should be prominently placed throughout. (7) WILL TAKE CHARGE never got involved from the outside post last week and now he’s assigned outside again; does Stratton get more aggressive with him this week? (5) NEW HEAVEN is back in the Open ranks and has been super for the Abbatiello barn. (6) MELADY’S MONET charged past to upset last out and the veteran always has to be respected.

Race 7 – 4YO Open Handicap Pace

(4) OSTRO HANOVER did break in his last local appearance but recovered decently enough after that and he’s been solid in his last three out of town for Allard; he should fit perfectly at this Open 4YO level. (8) SHNITZLEDOSOMETHIN is banished to the outside after last week’s win and obviously he’s got a big chance if Stratton can get away in good order. (1) BABES DIG ME was given a great post and Bartlett sticks with the Banca trainee. (5) MACH N CHEESE has been a bit enigmatic but we know the talent is there; consider him if he’s a nice double-digit price.

Race 8 – Sheppard Final 2YO Pace

(6) FREEDOM WARRIOR went on an insane speed mission in his career debut, cutting a :54 4/5 half, but it’s not like he tired horribly; I don’t know if that was by design or not, but it was awfully odd. Stratton sticks with the Lare trainee over two others and he looks juicy here at 8/1 in the final. Are there different tactics coming tonight? (3) HUNTER HILL looked good shipping in last week but it seemed like he could have done better; there will be more value to be had tonight if you stick with him. (5) SAVE ME A DANCE was a solid elimination winner; logical. (4) COLUMBO was also very good last week, coming on to win at a price in beating the top choice, when others could have been bottomed out off that trip.

Race 9 – NW30000 in last 5 starts

(3) TECHTOR HANOVER changed tactics in his last two starts, electing to come from off the pace, and last start it didn’t work out; veteran has beaten this type before and this is a good spot to be firing from the gate. (1) MACH IT SO tailed off badly in his last three so obviously the veteran will be looking forward to the class relief tonight. (6) STARS ALIGN A has been sharp for Allard and he’ll be a nice price; off-the-pace threat? (5) ROCKATHON is up the class ladder again while also in solid form.

Race 10 – NW30000 in last 5 starts

(2) BIT OF A LEGEND N makes his return to the racetrack, which is great to see, and while I don’t love him from a betting standpoint it would just be wrong NOT to pick him on top. (1) GRATIAN HANOVER is an obvious threat to go wire-to-wire. (5) DOCTOR BUTCH had little when bumped to this level last week but he does go back to Bartlett and can hit the ticket with a smooth trip. (6) I’M SOME GRADUATE is also coming off a layoff and qualified well.

Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5 starts

(7) IN SECRET takes a needed drop from the Open ranks, where he has actually been racing well recently, and it’s tough to pass on him at this level even with the outside post. (3) BUEN CAMINO returns locally for Smedshammer in a good spot; player. (1) IM THE MUSCLE has been improved since moving to the Allard barn and he returns with the best post. (4) IN MY DREAMS is in a bit too tough here but he’s been very good since the Laterza claim; small piece?

Race 12 – NW20000 in last 5 starts

(5) MAJOR CROCKER A had no chance last week from the eight hole versus better; he was a legit Levy player earlier in the year and the Allard trainee seems like the one to beat in the finale. (8) DR J HANOVER obviously can go with these but Holland has to hustle him out of there. (4) ROCK LIGHTS was a winner in his last local appearance. (7) SOMEWHERE IN L A, like Dr J Hanover, is obviously a huge threat with this type but it’s hard to say what kind of trip he’s looking at.
