Yonkers: Saturday 6/8 Analysis

MEET STATS: 191 - 539 / $990.70 (-$87.30)
BEST BETS: 28 - 47 / $83.20 (-$10.80)
BEST BET: ODDS ON DELRAY (1st)
SPOT PLAY: BLATANTLY BEST (3rd)
Race 1 - NW10000 in last 5
(2) ODDS ON DELRAY drops in class, finds a very favorable spot here and note the Alagna trainee beat better than these a couple of months ago; little value to be had but he should get the job done. (1) BAKERSFIELD has a poor win record over the last couple of seasons but he's another that's facing softer and he has good speed from the best post; these two will likely control the action from start to finish. (3) HEREHECOMESAROCKIN was a winner at Pocono in his last try and this barn sends them out live; picking up Stratton doesn't hurt. (6) KILLER MARTINI is capable of waking up with a monster effort at any given time but he's been a bit short in his last few and will need some action up front.
Race 2 - $40,000 Claiming
(4) TOATSMYGOATS was in an impossible spot from post eight off the Allard reclaim but this is a much more realistic post and Marohn, Jr., who is subbing for the out-of-town Dube, can take this one coast to coast. (1) PICKLED PREACHER has been in solid form while ascending the claiming ladder and I think he's sharp enough to go with this type. (3) HIGHLAND TARTAN has been a nice earner since the DiDomenico claim and he can land another share tonight. (7) ONE THROUGH TEN has tailed off recently but overall the veteran has made a huge turnaround since moving to the Jenn Bongiorno barn; does Holland blast? (8) VEGAS ROCKS jogged last out; post-compromised tonight?
Race 3 - NW21000 in last 5
(3) BLATANTLY BEST was claimed for $40K off Banca for these connections while in rather dull form and he's looked much, much better in those three starts for the Temming barn; veteran lands a good post and is versatile. (5) BLOOD LINE was outfinished from the pocket last out but his solid early speed always puts him in play. (6) CLASSY DRAGON has been spectacular since joining Team Bongiorno and he raced okay in last from the eight hole versus tougher foes; Siegelman gets the drive tonight with Joe Bongiorno in Ohio and he may try being forwardly placed as well. (8) GOKUDO HANOVER is a big-time threat with this type but the post may do him in; use underneath.
Race 4 - NW20000 in last 5
(2) SKYWAY QUINTON came home in :25 4/5 in his last two at The Meadowlands and failed to even pick up a check, showing how tough his competition was; all prior local efforts were super. (3) SOHO LENNON A has been a "Jekyll and Hyde" type lately but he does have a wire-to wire win from a similar spot three back. (5) LOCKTON LUCK A returns locally off a win at Plainridge and he's one of a seemingly endless supply of live Lance Hudson imports; Stratton stuck with the Tritton trainee here however and Brennan gets the drive. Good effort in defeat four back versus better. (1) THE LUNCH PAIL likely won't win this, but can save ground midpack and hit the ticket.
Race 5 - NW20000 in last 5
(7) TECHTOR HANOVER lands a tough outside post but he's arguably best in here and should be considered in all spots if the price is juicy enough. (6) AMERICAN BOY N returns locally off a crushing victory at Philly; Holland's back driving. (5) STARS ALIGN A fits nicely here for Allard and he tries Marohn in the bike but he is a bit inconsistent at times. (2) MILLIONDOLLARWAVE hasn't been bad at all off the Forte claim and he can certainly pick up the pieces here.
Race 6 - Open Handicap
(3) TOP FLIGHT ANGEL is a "top flight" talent for the Julie Miller barn and he was a good runner-up to a strong winner in his last local try. I like MacDonald picking up the catch drive and he has a post edge on his main rivals here. (5) NEW HEAVEN has been remarkable since moving to the Abbatiello barn and that was a solid effort last week at The Meadowlands; trotter usually offers value as well. (4) SMALLTOWNTHROWDOWN tailed off in his last couple of pari-mutuel tries but he's always a threat from decent posts. (2) SWANSEA has quickly proven he's a legit Open talent for DiDomenico and he wins the "2 through 8" draw; hard not to include from this spot.
Race 7 - NW30000 in last 5
(6) NOCTURNAL BLUECHIP has hit the board in his last four tries, including a solid second place finish to the classy Mach It So two back. The 8/1 morning line is very enticing and he just needs some racing luck to take this. (2) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP took money but failed to get involved last out; expect a much better effort tonight. (5) BALLERAT BOOMERANG failed at odds-on in his last Yonkers race but he will be a much bigger price tonight; consider. (4) THE REAL ONE got off the seasonal schneid last week at Pocono and this Lachance trainee still has what it takes to get it done, but is generally a bit overbet.
Race 8 - Open Handicap
(4) CAVIART LUCA almost always gives 100% in the effort department and is quite often overlooked in the wagering; Burke trainee is versatile and Brennan has tactical options from this post. (3) PACING MAJOR N raced respectably in stakes action at Philly versus a tough group and he returns to Yonkers with a pretty generous post assignment; Tritton trainee looks like a must-use. (8) IDEAL JIMMY broke into the first turn at Western Fair in the Camluck Classic while desperately trying to hold position. I'm willing to forgive and forget, but it's tough to say how hard he'll be used tonight from the eight-hole assignment. (1) MACH IT SO is back in top form and still has the look of a legit Open contender.
Race 9 - NW30000 in last 5
(2) SOUTHWIND CRUZE obviously has some breaking issues but he can go with this type when he behaves himself; maybe Marohn will get along with the Jenn Bongiorno trainee at a decent price. (1) STORMY KROMER was nipped on the wire after a speed try last out and he's an obvious threat to take these the distance tonight. (4) BLACK MAMBA AS is a steady commodity from a good trotting barn but I think she still has a bit to prove at this level. Both (3) CASA PALMERA and (7) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN should be considered when rounding out Tris and Supers.
Race 10 - NW30000 in last 5
(5) GREAT VINTAGE is clearly feeling good again at the age of 11 and I'll stick with him on the class rise. (2) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N faltered on the front end versus a bit better last out, only his third U.S. start. Clearly the ability is there and he’s tough to ignore from this good post. (3) PROVEN DESIRE charged home to nail a stubborn frontrunner last out; faces tougher here but can hit the ticket. (7) BETTOR MEMORIES won a leg of the Levy but now may be completely ignored by the bettors; use for a share. (4) PHOTOBOMBR HANOVER is another sharp one to consider.
