MEET STATS: 197 - 559 / $1,017.20 (-$100.80)
BEST BETS: 29 - 49 / $85.80 (-$12.20)
Best Bet: ART SCENE (1st)
Spot Play: IDEAL JIMMY (10th)
Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5
(2) ART SCENE put in a big eight-hole second-place effort in his last local try at this same level and he was Bartlett’s choice over an outside-drawn Banca trainee; I suspect he’ll be aggressively handled from this spot. (4) ROCK N TONY is back with Erv Miller though still listed with Burke’s guys as the owners; he’s had plenty of prior success in this barn. (3) ROCK THIS WAY should fit okay with these and he’s drawn well but did burn money in his last local race. (6) WINBAK WILLY T closed a ton to get it done last week at Philly, beating the top choice in the process.
Race 2 – Preferred Trot
(7) EYE OFA TIGER AS somehow is assigned post 7 as (2) IN SECRET gets to draw for an inside slot but they both have a bit of a class edge here with plenty of Open experience and the “Tiger” should be the better price. (4) TIGHT LINES is a legit talent from Jeff Gregory and must be considered. (1) SUMATRA figures to be close up throughout and can round out the gimmicks.
Race 3 – NW10000 in last 5
(3) INSTRUCTOR has been better recently and returns to Yonkers in a field loaded with question marks; maybe. (2) BAKERSFIELD went a good clip on the front end last week upon dropping to this level and gave way pretty early to pressure; he’s a good fit here but it’s hard to say where he’ll be set up having a speedster to his inside. (4) BADIX HANOVER has been a big disappointment but at least Bartlett is back driving. (1) DOJEA SOLO fits with these and could land a piece.
Race 4 – NW20000 in last 5
(6) BLATANTLY BEST could not fire from behind dull cover as the top two lined up last week; prior efforts have been good for this barn and he’ll certainly be a nice price from this spot. (1) MOHAWK WARRIOR draws best, was Bartlett’s choice and looms an obvious player. (3) BET ON BRITT gets needed post relief and should be more involved. (2) THE LUNCH PAIL can offer up a late rally if he isn’t used early.
Race 5 – NW20000 in last 5
(1) GOKUDO HANOVER pretty much went through the motions last week from the eight hole but it will be an entirely different story tonight; veteran is the one to catch. (2) SKYWAY QUINTON rated kindly and he plenty left in the tank wiring them last week; main threat. (3) LONDON SEELSTER has to be respected from these connections but he’ll need to do a bit better than last week where he was outkicked early and late. (6) GRATIAN HANOVER freshened nicely in a qualifier at Gaitway and he’s a proven entity here.
Race 6 – Open Handicap Trot
(3) WINNING SHADOW was very well backed at the windows and raced well once escaping the pocket as the pace was collapsing; Burke trainee remains sharp and can get it done with smooth sailing. (5) LEAN HANOVER did have finishing trot from a no-chance spot in his local return and the Wellwood trainee is a legit talent. (7) WILL TAKE CHARGE did just that from off the pace last week and he keeps Stratton in the bike but he’ll have to do it from a tough spot tonight. (2) SMALLTOWNTHROWDOWN was hounded every step last out and had an excuse to tire.
Race 7 – NW20000 in last 5
(3) CHACHING HANOVER doesn’t win all that often but the Stafford trainee is a proven commodity at this level and he should be in good striking position with Bartlett picking up the drive. (2) BEACH BOOGIE will certainly attract plenty of attention at the windows off of that 1:49 2/5 score at Pocono; Allard trainee was a good second in his last local start. (4) WINDSONG JACK goes for new connections off the claim and could show improvement; he was Seigelman’s choice of four in here. (6) MACINTOSH N is up in class again off two sharp wins and the Vallee trainee could save ground and emerge with late pace.
Race 8 – NW20000 in last 5
(5) BELLOWS BINGE gets needed class relief and lands a good midpack post in this bulky field; I would be shocked if Bartlett wasn’t firing hard from the gate. (4) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN isn’t what he used to be for Tritton but he still should remain a player at this level with Stratton driving. (9) LOCKTON LUCK A needs a smooth trip from the second tier but could hit the ticket. (8) JJ FLYNN was a legit Levy player not too long ago but he’s really hit the skids and he lands another tough post.
Race 9 – Open Pace
(1) MICKY GEE N put it all back together with his Open win two back then had no real chance last week; he lands inside with this open draw but more importantly he gets Stratton back in the bike. Hudson trainee can grind his way to victory. (5) CAVIART LUCA is back on top of his game and is a big-time threat to repeat for Burke/Brennan. (3) SOMEWHERE IN L A can never be counted out despite what his recent efforts look like. (4) ROCK DIAMONDS N has been a razor-sharp import for Cushing but he gets a real class test tonight.
Race 10 – Preferred Handicap Pace
(7) IDEAL JIMMY had no chance in his local return but did finish with plenty of hidden late pace; he does face a bit softer here and the price should be right. (4) GREAT VINTAGE is still getting it done after all these years and he moves up the ladder again looking for four straight. (2) ROOTIN TOOTIN returns locally with a good post and has been solid in all recent efforts. (6) HAVEFAITHINME N has underachieved a bit but was a winner when Bartlett last drove.
Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5
(2) AMERICAN BOY N just missed last week after a tough overland trip and he has been right there at this level in the past; veteran will be much closer to the pace tonight and can get it done with some racing luck. (1) IMAROCNROLLEGEND N served notice with that qualifier that he’s ready for action; down the road? (6) BETTORS FIRE N fits perfectly with these but has some tough ones inside of him. (3) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP is another ex-Takter veteran with a load of money earned who can still get it done.
Race 12 – NW30000 in last 5
(2) THEARTOFCONFUSION A gets that much-needed post relief which will help him return to the winner’s circle. (1) MILITARY MASTER A returns to Yonkers off a failed try at Plainridge and most of his local races have been solid. (3) PHOTOBOMBR HANOVER hasn’t proven he can win at this level but he will likely come away with a nice share. (7) SPORTS COLUMN has to overcome the poor post and I’m sure Brennan will be looking to improve position early.
