Best Bet: COOPERSTOWN (3rd)
Spot Play: THE REAL ONE (10th)
MEET STATS: 168 - 481 / $975.80
BEST BETS: 24 - 42 / $80.70
Race 1
(2) ELWELL was a winner when last at this NW15000 level and there are certainly no standouts in here; Laterza trainee deserves top billing. (5) DREAMLANDS ART didn't fire upon hiking to this level but he's reunited with Bartlett, who recently steered him to a win versus lesser. (3) JUSTICE MY WAY gets much-needed post relief and should be more involved.
Race 2
(1) TOBER has been sharp recently despite a couple of no-chance outside post efforts; veteran can trip out from this spot. (2) HEMI SEELSTER drops from the Open ranks where he was very disappointing last out; Banca trainee is clearly the one to beat. (3) NO RECESS returns sharp from Saratoga and should land a share from this spot.
Race 3
(4) COOPERSTOWN picks up Bartlett while down in class and he can take these coast-to-coast. (2) MICKEY HANOVER was a solid winner versus lesser in his local return and he's got back class. (8) QUICK ASA TRICK N was a sharp winner at The Meadowlands in his U.S. debut and obviously the import bears following despite the outside post.
Race 4
(4) RAINBOW ROMANCE N was a tad overmatched versus better in his last few and he should appreciate the drop in class; Brennan's choice. (1) BIG N BAD is probably the one to beat, but tough to take at a short price. (2) LACHIE MAGUIRE N moves all the way back inside and figures to be more involved.
Race 5
(1) P H SUPERCAM actually put in some decent efforts in the Levy and the veteran would seem to have no excuse from this spot. (7) ROCK ICON didn't race badly in his first start off the Harris claim and he can be considered despite the outside post. (2) THAT'LL BE THE REI was awful in his last few at this level but maybe he regained some confidence with that win versus cheaper.
Race 6
(6) TEXICAN N seems like the only true Winners over/Open type horse in here and the Tritton trainee should find a way to get the job done. (5) AMERICAN VENTURE debuts for new connections off the $50K claim and was Bartlett's choice. (8) HOLY GRAIL N has loads of ability but needs to find a way to get involved from the eight hole.
Race 7
(6) ROLAND N ROCK closed a ton in that abbreviated field last week where the classy winner was well rated; versatile sort can do it either way and should be the best price of the contenders. (1) GREAT VINTAGE has controlling speed with the best post. (5) BLOOD BROTHER had his moments in the Levy and Barteltt gets along great with him.
Race 8
(7) TACO TUESDAY moves into the Andrew Harris barn despite being razor-sharp for his previous trainer; no reason to think he won't be ready to roll tonight. (8) BARN DOLL looks for two straight for Jeff Gregory, who is on an awesome roll with his barn; obviously the eight hole presents some problems. (4) RED HOT HERBIE is a legit Open trotter but why the missed time?
Race 9
(2) NEWBIE had no chance and didn't get involved in his last two from outside posts but his prior efforts versus cheaper were solid; expect Bartlett to have him rolling early and then sit no worse than the pocket. (3) REGGIANO was solid in defeat last week only getting outkicked by a rival with a live trip. (5) SPARKY MARK powered away from cheaper last week and the veteran has loads of back class with over a million earned.
Race 10
Please, Pat Lachance, drive (4) THE REAL ONE like you know he's the best; after all he is the track record holder with a 1:50 mile. (1) THE WAYFARING MAN was a winner versus cheaper at Pocono in his debut for the Burke barn. (7) THE ONLYEST ONE is saddled with another tough outside post but he was charging hard last week.
Race 11
(6) WIND OF THE NORTH has been solid in practically every start this season and the classy trotter finds a very good spot upon shipping to Yonkers. (4) OPULENT YANKEE moves to the half mile track and will be on the move early; impossible for him not to be on the lead or stalking in the pocket from this spot. (1) ROCK OF CASHEL draws best in his local return and can be used underneath on the ticket.
Race 12
(7) MOSSDALE CONNER N faces a true test in his second U.S. start but he won his debut so effortlessly that I'm sure he has more to offer. (3) GUANTANAMO BAY was gapping cover before he broke in the Levy consolation; it's safe to say he's tailing off but this is class relief. (2) TAKE IT BACK TERRY won easily last week in a spot where it was impossible to lose; clearly he can take another.
