Yonkers: Saturday 5/27 Analysis

Matt Rose|May 25, 2017
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: DOWNBYTHESEASIDE (8th)

Spot Play: RANCOUSY (3rd)

MEET STATS: 199 - 565 / $1,125.70

BEST BETS: 26 - 49 / $86.70

Race 1

(4) CANBEC KINGKAZIMIR held very well for second last week at this $50K claiming level after being passed late and he certainly faces no standouts here. (7) NEWBIE is stuck outside but he's shown quick speed off the gate in the past and Bartlett may be firing early. (2) BOLD AND BRAVE is up in class off the claim after taking four of five and this barn is going well now.

Race 2

(4) BEAT THE DRUM moved into the Sholty barn last week, took money but then didn't leave from the outside post and never get close; I'll give him another try moving inside some. (2) BETTOR ROCK ON N returns to Bartlett and has raced well with better in the past. (8) WYNBERG COURAGE N has picked up small shares in his recent races versus $50K claimers and he could be a closing threat worthy of including.

Race 3

(3) RANCOUSY secured a live pocket trip last week then easily rolled by late; why not again? (2) WESTERN YOUNG GUN bumped to this level off the Lare claim and was swallowed up late after setting a solid pace; gelding will be on or near the lead again. (1) E Z NOAH stopped badly last out at Pocono but we know the Allard trainee is erratic and he's more than capable of bouncing back.

Race 4

(1) RONNY BUGATTI switches back to Stratton and gets major post relief while facing nothing special. (2) PANSFORMATIVE also moves inside and looks like another Bongiorno trainee in a good spot tonight. (4) JENERAL PATTON returns locally and has been racing decently of late; Dave Miller drives.

Race 5

(2) DREAM OUT LOUD N has been okay this season without a victory to show for it but anything resembling his best effort will make him very tough tonight. (5) LONE SURVIVOR is back to Bartlett upon returning from Saratoga; threat. (4) DEETZY was good here two back finishing second versus lesser and he followed that up with an easy win at Saratoga; early speed makes him a player.

Race 6

(3) CAVIART ALLY really didn't race that badly in her elimination last week considering she had to come uncovered into a really soft pace; six-figure earner as a freshman should be even stronger in her third seasonal start and seems to have upset potential. (4) AGENT Q was the easiest of winners last week but it's very unlikely she'll get away with murder on the front end again; she's the one to beat. (7) TEQUILA MONDAY closed a ton in her elim and is obviously loaded with talent but she'll have to overcome the poor draw.

Race 7

(2) TEXICAN N has raced well in all recent without a victory to show for it and the Tritton charge is a legit Open commodity; post edge on his rivals could get him over the top. (6) MACH IT SO finally broke through last week after a series of close calls and he's sharp enough to repeat. (1) IDEAL COWBOY moves all the way in off that ridiculous 7-hole assignment last out; he could show more in his second start for new connections.

Race 8

(3) DOWNBYTHESEASIDE was clearly best coming in last week and didn't disappoint with a very professional win in the Rooney elimination. There's no reason why he shouldn't handle these at a short price. (6) SUMMER SIDE didn't finish badly last week after showing good early speed and he gets Tetrick in the bike for tonight's final. (5) FUNKNWAFFLES was used hard and gave way in his seasonal debut and I think he can be excused for that effort.

Race 9

(5) SHINOBU HANOVER faces some questionable inside speed types here and he does have a nice brush if timed right. (1) LUCAN HANOVER returns locally to a softer spot and does seem the one to beat. (3) COWBOY TERRIER didn't fire at all last out; use caution.

Race 10

(5) SANTA FE BEACHBOY was either going to win or just miss last out if not for that break on the final turn; I'll give him another chance at an improved price. (1) TE KAWAU N beat these wire-to-wire three back and now draws best; big threat. (6) THE REAL ONE looks for three straight for Lachance and he's clearly good enough to take all if close enough turning for home.

Race 11

(1) LETTUCEROCKTHEM A was a good second to Blood Brother last out and he's hard to look past here starting from the best post. (2) BETTING EXCHANGE is up in class off an easy win versus much cheaper. (7) WESTERN ROCKSTAR A belongs with this type and could be a closing threat at a big price.

Race 12

(1) WICK N returns locally and has had his moments here in the past, especially from inside posts. (3) NATIONAL SEELSTER was a bit overmatched last week at The Meadowlands; he'll be on the move early from this spot. (5) ROCK ABSORBER didn't fire last week versus claimers but he keeps Bartlett and there's definitely no killers in here; include.
