MEET STATS: 109 - 313 / $546.30 (-$79.70)
BEST BETS: 17 - 26 / $51.50 (-$0.50)
Race 1
(6) ABNER THE GREAT has looked very live in his two starts off the Allard claim and he's quickly proven he fits at the $40K claiming level; he could be at a bit of tactical disadvantage from this spot but should offer a bit of value. (3) TEXICAN N finished with pace after a smooth trip last week and the Tritton-trained veteran should go well from this spot. (4) ONE THROUGH TEN has been a killer since moving to the Jenn Bongiorno barn and he'll be firing early.
Race 2
(1) THEARTOFCONFUSUION A never got involved last week but the move all the way inside will make all the difference in the world. (4) SOHO LENNON A bounced back with a nice effort last week and should be considered. (3) EPAULETTE A never really fired upon arrival but the winner got away so cheap on the front end; perhaps he can be handled more aggressively tonight.
Race 3
(3) BELLOWS BINGE takes an important drop from the Levy and was an odds-on winner when last at this level. (2) LACHIE MAGUIRE N failed to get involved from the eight hole last week; this is obviously a much better spot. (4) JM JACK OF HEARTS has raced very well since arriving from Canada and he could offer some value here.
Race 4
(1) CAVIART LUCA is obviously the most logical winner in here but won't offer any value; still tough not to have him on top. (6) MICKY GEE N drops out of the Levy for the sizzling Lance Hudson barn and the import should fit better here. (7) SHNEONUCRZYDIAMND A clearly is a major player with this type but the outside post hurts; Croghan trainee should be a decent price, however.
Race 5
(4) JJ FLYNN was overtaken by a horse going an insane mile last week but he did safely hold second once being passed; his prior start from a similar spot was super. (3) ENDEAVOR was used early and succumbed to intense pressure; that certainly wasn't his preferred trip. (5) MAJOR CROCKER A took some money and had finishing pace in traffic last week; consider.
Race 6
(5) WESLYNN DANCER was in a poor spot last week and never got involved; Banca-trained mare has been behaving herself and can charge home in time. (4) IN SECRET was overtaken by the insanely sharp New Heaven last week; Burke trainee will be a speed threat again. (6) SMALLTOWNTHROWDOWN went through the motions from his assigned eight hole off an injured scratch and the Allard trainee should be much better this time around, but why is he banished outside again?
Race 7
(4) I'M SOME GRADUATE rallied very nicely last week narrowing the margin late on the trip-sitting winner; a similar effort could get the Burke trainee home. (3) RODEO ROMEO has finished third in his first three Levy efforts and he's in a good spot to hit the ticket again. (1) ANYTHINGFORLOVE A will be looking to go down the road again but has come up a bit short in his last couple.
Race 8
(4) THE DOWNTOWN BUS swept from last two back, then showed unknown speed blasting to the front last week before getting jammed in as the outer flow took over; Gillis trainee definitely deserves a long look tonight. (6) LYONS STEEL went the mile of his life last week; can he follow that up here? (8) IDEAL JIMMY has been razor-sharp in the Levy and flew home last week to just miss; post obviously hurts again but it wouldn't shock me if Holland took a big shot off the gate.
Race 9
(4) BAKERSFIELD is probably better suited one level down but the Garcia-Herrera trainee was deceptively good last out. (6) FUNKNWAFFLES returned locally last week with Lasix added and was very game disposing of lesser; gelding can build off that effort. (5) SPORTS COLUMN was very good from off the pace in his last two local starts.
Race 10
(3) WESTERN FAME clearly came ready to play in the Levy and the Allard trainee was never in doubt last week; he can take another here at a short price. (1) GOKUDO HANOVER gets much-needed post relief and obviously will be more involved. (2) SOMEWHERE IN L A toured the track last week from the eight hole; first two Levy efforts for this classmaster were good.
Race 11
(3) LORD CROMWELL finished close up in last week's Open and that was after a sick scratch; Ed Hart trainee clearly seems like the one to beat from this good starting spot. (4) DW'S NY YANK was off in a tangle last out and never had a chance; draw a line through that effort because the Burke trainee stacks up perfectly here. (5) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN would be much more interesting has he not missed almost a month.
Race 12
(1) BACKSTREET SHADOW exploded home from a tough spot in his seasonal debut (and debut for the Hudson barn) and he followed that up with a sharp effort in defeat last week versus similar; 4-year-old is clearly the one to defeat in the finale. (2) AMERICAN BOY N waltzed around the track in his most recent victory and he'll be right up close to the pace again. (4) EDDARD HANOVER returns locally for Burke and he's another that figures to be a part of the early action.
