Yonkers: Saturday 4/27 Analysis

Matt Rose|Apr 25, 2019

Best Bet: HAVEFAITHINME N (4th)

Spot Play: MAJOR CROCKER A (5th)

MEET STATS: 141 - 400 / $716.20 (-$83.80)

BEST BETS: 20 - 34 / $60.40 (-$8.60)

Race 1

(1) ABERDEEN HANOVER is by no means a prolific winner but he's had some competitive efforts recently versus better and from this spot he's more than capable given a smooth steer by Vallee. (3) TWIN B SPEED DIAL also drops in class and looks like the most logical in here; certainly Brennan will have him in play early but he won't offer much value. (2) PERFECTLY CLOSE finally got a long-awaited win last week versus lesser and he'll be close up throughout from this post.

Race 2

(4) BUGSY MAGUIRE has looked really good in his last two for Ruiz and this versatile gelding can string some big efforts together; he figures to offer a bit more value than the pole-starting (1) BLATANTLY BEST. The latter gets much-needed post relief and will be in line for a winning trip but will likely be way overbet. (6) TOATSMYGOATS also gets away from the streaking One Through Ten and I suspect Dube will take a big shot off the gate.

Race 3

(7) SCOTCH MCEWAN steps back up in class off a loss but he was up against a very sharp front-end winner that night; Hudson trainee fits with this type but obviously the post is a concern. Worth playing at what should be a decent price. (3) AMERICANPRIMETIME returns locally and has big-time speed; veteran is clearly the one to catch. (5) LORD OF MISRULE dropped to this level last week and gapped in a poor performance; DiDomenico trainee is better than that.

Race 4

(1) HAVEFAITHINME N has really found his stride and the classy import is in a great spot to take his third straight; Bartlett's choice. (5) PERFECT BET returns to Yonkers off a nice win at Freehold and he's done good things here in the past with Marohn driving; gelding could add some value to the gimmicks. (3) TREMENDOUS PLAY hasn't missed a check in ages and the Banca trainee can land another share here.

Race 5

(4) MAJOR CROCKER A has been on a major form spree despite not having a local win for the Levy champ connections (Allard/Dube); he can handle these with any sort of reasonable trip. (3) CAVIART LUCA was invisible last out from the eight hole despite being bet down to 5/2; post relief makes this veteran a player tonight. (5) MICKY GEE N steps up to the Open ranks off two consecutive confident off-the-pace scores for the live Hudson/Stratton tandem.

Race 6

(4) EYE OFA TIGER AS was a strong second in his last two and this Lorentzon trainee has quickly proven he belongs with these Open trotters; good midpack draw makes him a major player tonight. (3) WESLYNN DANCER has been behaving herself and that was a big uncovered back half she trotted in victory last out; threat. (7) MELADY'S MONET took care of business versus lesser last week and he bumps back to the top level but losing the two through seven draw hurts her chances here.

Race 7

In a tough race to figure, (2) COOPERSTOWN was a solid pocket-sitting second last week in his local return and he's won plenty of times here in the past; veteran may take these a long way on the lead. (3) BLOOD BROTHER woke up beating lesser last out off a perfect trip and the sharp sort should have no problem bumping back up the ladder. (1) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN did the best he could from the eight hole in a nine-horse affair last out, saving ground to pick up a fourth place check; Tritton trainee should always be considered a threat versus this type.

Race 8

(5) ARTFUL WAY makes his way back to Yonkers from upstate looking for a second straight win and the gelding was a three-time winner here last year, all on the front end. (1) WEONA SIZZLER A has been a massive disappointment this year, but with that said he's looked much better recently. Banca trainee should be a big player from the rail. (3) ST LADS NEPTUNE failed badly on the front end last week but he'll be off the pace tonight, hoping to revert to his prior good form.

Race 9

(2) LORD CROMWELL has been right there in his four 2019 starts and he seems as capable as any in here. Smooth sailing can take this. (1) CHESTNUT SCHOFIELD blew away cheaper last week taking his second straight and he's certainly live to take another but this group is a bit tougher than he's been facing. (6) BUEN CAMINO gets some class relief and will be a healthy price; consider including for a share.

Race 10

(4) JM JACK OF HEARTS drops in class tonight and tries a new pilot in Bartlett looking for a wakeup call; 4-year-old does show a win when last at this level. (3) MISTER DAYTONA N failed at odds-on last week but he was nailed by a classy rival; Simons trainee has beaten better than these in the past. (1) WE THINK ALIKE raced decently last out and will be close up from this post; use underneath.
