Yonkers: Saturday 3/7 Analysis

MEET STATS: 95 - 277 / $507.30 (-$46.70)
BEST BETS: 14 - 24 / $46.80 (-$1.20)
Best Bet: HIGHLAND TARTAN (4th)
Spot Play: WESLYNN DANCER (11th)
Race 1 – $30,000/$40,000 Claiming
(4) BELLOWS BINGE was snuck in for the $20K tag coming off the bench and totally dominated. Banca trainee looks sharp enough to tackle tougher. (7) MARTY MONKHOUSER A moves to the Allard barn and keeps Stratton in the bike looking to win another. (1) ZIGGY SKY is in for the lower claiming price so he ends up with the best post and he was Holland’s choice of four in here. (5) BLAISE MM HANOVER didn’t get involved last week up at Saratoga but was a game uncovered winner here the start prior.
Race 2 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(1) HILL OF A HORSE got that long-overdue win last out and he seems talented enough to double up facing better. (3) NOWS THE MOMENT was facing better when last at Yonkers. (5) NEW HEAVEN raced pretty well in his seasonal debut and he’ll likely be even tighter here. (2) WINNING SHADOW was used making the front and folded badly under pressure; tough to gauge the Burke trainee tonight.
Race 3 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(2) AMERICAN BOY N was off the pace last week and didn’t gain an inch when called upon; he’s clearly better off cutting the mile which will likely be the case tonight. (4) ARCHANGEL THREE is up in class again going for three straight and the Harris trainee looks second best here. (7) MAROMA BEACH got shuffled and lost all chance last out; post is tough but he could be on the scene late. (5) KILLER MARTINI certainly needed last week’s start; veteran can be frustrating at times but he does have the talent.
Race 4 - $75,000 Claiming
(4) HIGHLAND TARTAN did the best he could from the eight hole last week and didn’t get beat that badly after the long trip; post relief should help immensely and Stratton sticks with him. (5) ANYTHINGFORLOVE A is an eccentric type but he’s all business when the gate opens; speedy type will be involved at some point. (3) WINNING LINC is probably best a level or two down but he has been sharp recently; Bartlett gets the drive tonight. (8) SLICK MICK did beat these last week but the eight hole is tough.
Race 5 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(2) DREAM OF LUCK went a tough two-move effort last week and understandably flattened; he draws well and with smooth sailing he could be there at a decent price. (6) LOCKTON LUCK A was uninvolved in his seasonal debut after taking some money; eventually the Lance Hudson barn will perk up, this import included. (5) SUNKEN TREASURE raced very gamely on the rim in his last two. (8) TAKEITTOTHEFACE blasted down the road in his last two for Banca and Bartlett isn’t shy about sending horses off the gate from the outside posts.
Race 6 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(2) DON DOMINGO N is another Hudson trainee in need of a wakeup call and this import did finish with willing pace last week; class and post relief will help his cause. (1) DANCIN DRAGON returns to Yonkers off two sharp efforts in Pennsylvania and he was Bartlett’s choice over a Banca trainee. (3) DECLAN SEELSTER also returns locally and Bongiorno has had plenty of success with this one in the past. (4) SOMEBADDUDE took loads of money last week versus better and offered nothing; he’s better than that.
Race 7 – Open Handicap Pace
(7) IDEAL JIMMY took plenty of money as expected last week coming off the shelf but was clearly short after pulling pocket; he moves outside into a tougher spot but I hope Holland will be getting him in play looking to tune up for future engagements. Price should be healthy, as well. (5) I’M SOME GRADUATE hikes to the Open level off a powerful uncovered score versus lesser; sharp sort could be live here. (6) HAVEFAITHINME N had his moments here last season and tuned up nicely in that Pocono qualifier; Goodell is back with the catch drive as Bartlett opted off. (1) IMAROCNROLLEGEND N had zero excuse last week and that’s back-to-back subpar efforts but the Jenn Bongiorno trainee is clearly better than that. Tough race.
Race 8 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(5) ALLUNEEDISFAITH N looked much better last out at The Meadowlands, his second start after shipping back north from Florida, and he’s had success here in the past. (2) SHOREVIEW is clearly not on top of his game but the class and post relief makes the Harris trainee a contender. (1) WAIMAC ATTACK N was just “okay” in his three seasonal starts but he merits a mention starting from the inside post. (8) DENVER SEELSTER would be a major threat to take all here if not for the bad starting spot.
Race 9 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(2) SPORTS BETTOR finished with solid late pace last week facing $40K claimers and he lands in a good spot here against some questionable types; Brennan’s choice. (4) LUIS ALBERTO N qualified well in preparation for his seasonal debut. (1) IN SPADES raced well coming off the shelf for Garcia-Herrera and he gets class and post relief. (5) DRAWING DRAGONS didn’t fire at all upon arrival despite being in a good spot in a race favoring closers; use caution.
Race 10 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(1) HEAVEN’S GAIT threw in a total clunker when odds-on in his last start; his prior efforts were so sharp (albeit against lesser) that it’s tough to give up on him. (5) ROLLWITHPAPAJOE never got involved last week at Freehold in a needed start; 4-year-old had some big races here last season and should be tighter for this event. (2) BABES DIG ME was second best in his three seasonal starts and the Banca trainee figures to hit the ticket again. (3) AIR STRIKE proved overmatched in the Open; this is a more reasonable spot.
Race 11 – Open Handicap Trot
(5) WESLYNN DANCER certainly figured things out in a hurry with her punishing effort last week; she doesn’t have a ton of early speed but should never be too far back in this abbreviated field. (6) MELADY’S MONET was rightfully assigned the outside post and this ultra-classy veteran just keeps chugging along. (4) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN does his best work a level down but he’s in a good spot here to land a nice share. (3) ARABELLA’S CADET is back at Yonkers, where she’s been doing her best running.
Race 12 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(4) CAVIART LUCA basically toured the track sitting along the pylons and weakened in his 2020 debut while facing tougher than these; I suspect the Burke trainee will be put in play tonight after that useful tightener. (1) SAYING GRACE N steps up looking for three straight and he draws best. (5) SOMEWHERE IN L A gets a bit of post relief which should be enough to make his presence felt. (2) HOT DEUCE tired after getting shuffled last week and the freelegged pacer should be close to the front again.
