Yonkers: Saturday 3/30 Analysis

Matt Rose|Mar 28, 2019
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: JJ FLYNN (8th)

Spot Play: LATE MAIL N (2nd)

MEET STATS: 97 - 281 / $477.30 (-$84.70)

BEST BETS: 15 - 23 / $46.00 (+$0.00)

Race 1

(1) STOLEN CAR was never put into play last week, especially with a rival to his inside firing hard; he's always a live one from inside posts and can get it done with some racing luck. (3) ONE THROUGH TEN has been a killer since moving to Team Bongiorno and it will be no surprise to see him on the lead. (4) ABNER THE GREAT was sharp for the win moving up off the Allard claim but it looks like he'll have to do it from off the pace tonight.

[WOODBINE MOHAWK PARK: Get in on the Mandatory Payout of the $525,140 Jackpot Hi-5 Carryover on Saturday.]

Race 2

(3) LATE MAIL N raced very well from off the pace to hit the board in his last two and this Croghan trainee seems too talented to be shut out on the season for much longer. (1) OUR ZAK WHITBY A didn't fire at all last week but he's clearly better than that; class and post relief should help immensely. (7) ALOTBETTOR N returns to Yonkers for live connections but he may be done in by the poor post.

Race 3

(6) GIVENUPDREAMING has looked pretty good in two starts off the winter layoff and he does have some tactical speed while facing a questionable field. (1) CHACHING HANOVER was second best off a pocket trip last week and he should be right there again from this spot. (7) THEARTOFCONFUSION A is arguably best in here but may be severely hampered by the outside draw.

Race 4

(4) ENDEAVOR was a sharp uncovered winner last week powering past what was a sharp rival; Tetrick sticks with him over (1) BECKHAMS Z TAM. The latter was better last out versus his prior start but was still outfinished late; obvious player here from the best post. (5) THE WALL battled hard before tiring last out and can clearly be excused for that effort.

Race 5

(3) DR J HANOVER was actually well-meant and very good last week but had some bad luck as he couldn't get carried to the lane; I'll stick with him to post the mild upset. (1) RODEO ROCK took ALL the money last week and delivered his second straight solid Levy performance; Cleary trainee is clearly the one to beat. (5) WESTERN FAME failed at 1/9 last week but did dig in gamely late once passed.

Race 6

(5) WILL TAKE CHARGE should show much more tonight in his second seasonal start but I suspect he won't provide much value. (4) BLENHEIM gave way last week after a front-end battle but I'll consider the gelding again assuming he's still sharp. (6) WESLYNN DANVER has been behaving herself recently and she's a legit Open threat.

Race 7

(2) SOHO LENNON A collapsed badly on the front end two back but he was off some time prior to that start; veteran came back last week and tightened at Freehold and now is right back in the box here; I suspect the Dilloian trainee will be much better tonight. (3) BETTOR MEMORIES drops from the Levy and into a winning spot but he'll be overbet. (1) OURLITTLEGENERAL A might be better a notch or two lower but he does draw best and should be considered.

Race 8

(1) JJ FLYNN was absolutely super last week attacking and wearing down the 1/9 Western Fame; any similar effort will get it done here. (6) SAMS A CHAMP A was aggressively handled and pressed into oblivion last week; maybe an improved off-the-pace try is coming here. (3) ALWAYS AT MY PLACE did look better last out than he did in round one of the Levy.

Race 9

(1) ANYTHINGFORLOVE A just didn't 'feel' right on the tote board last week (they knew!) and was disappointing on the racetrack; I'll give the Bongiorno charge another chance. (6) DUPLICATED N was no match for a couple of sharp ones last out but I suspect Tetrick will have him on the move early looking for a live trip. (2) MORE THE BETTER N was disappointing last week, especially coming off that great win the week prior.

Race 10

(2) GREAT VINTAGE lands in a spot where he should be controlling the action and the millionaire is clearly the one to beat. (3) CAPOZZO was a game winner at this level three back. (4) ABERDEEN HANOVER rarely wins but is a candidate to hit the ticket.

Race 11

(1) MAC'S JACKPOT raced very well in round one of the Levy then was at a tactical disadvantage last week; he's more than capable from this spot assuming a live trip. (5) WINDSONG LEO qualified back with ease last week after that uncharacteristic break the week prior and the Burke trainee will be a player here. (3) RODEO ROMEO finished third the last two weeks and he can round out the bottom of the ticket here at a minimum.

Race 12

(4) EPAULETTE A is a perfect two-for-two at Pocono since arriving from Florida and I suspect he's good enough to fit in here class-wise. (1) CLASSY DRAGON bumps up the ladder looking for three straight for Team Bongiorno. (2) BABES DIG ME was uncovered into a stepped-up back half upon debuting at this level and only offered a brief bid; use underneath. (3) BACKSTREET SHADOW merits a mention off that visually impressive late rally to defeat lesser.
