Race 1
(4) CHEYENNE SEEBER successfully 'dropped and popped' last week overcoming the eight hole with a solid two-move effort; he bumps back up in class and meets a very shaky NW10000 field. (6) DURANT does fit well at this level and is a threat with a live trip. (1) SPORTY SPOOK A would have been a cinch from this spot and few months ago but he's been really poor recently; use caution.
Race 2
(2) BAKERSFIELD had a very useful 2019 debut race where he was away by default in the pocket but was digging gamely to the end; Garcia-Herrera trainee can build off that effort. (4) TRIPLE SEELSTER gave it an aggressive try last out and did battle stubbornly before tiring; will Brennan have him on the move early again? (6) ELWELL fits this level perfectly but the only problem here is the post; would be no surprise at all if he took this.
Race 3
(4) MACH TIME N has gone evenly in his three starts since moving to the Banca barn but he has flashed good speed; this looks like a good spot to fire to the front and he may forget to stop tonight. (6) JM JACK OF HEARTS raced very well in his local debut for new connections and he's a player here, hopefully not post-compromised. (3) CARRACCI HANOVER hasn't been bad recently but also hasn't won in ages; consider the freelegged pacer for a share from this spot.
Race 4
(1) ART SCENE came up a touch short off live cover last week but it was his first start in over three months and he figures to be tighter tonight for a barn that's been live with everything. (5) PHIL YOUR BOOTS hasn't done a heck of a lot recently but this just feels like a spot where he can be more involved. (2) SHANE ADAM has disappointed of late but he's at least worth a look from this inside post.
Race 5
(2) STOLEN CAR is always a player at this $40,000 claiming level, especially from inside posts, and he may offer some value with some interesting rivals signed on. (4) ROLL AWAY JOE has taken his last two local races with furious late rallies and now he goes for Allard via claim. (1) VEGAS ROCKS also goes for a new barn after failing last week at 1/5.
Race 6
(8) MELADY'S MONET recovered from his sick scratch and picked up right where he left off, winning easily under confident Stratton handling. Veteran gets the call to repeat despite his eight hole assignment. (6) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN has been racing well of late and his early speed makes him a player. (1) WESLYNN DANCER qualified cautiously and the mare absolutely can go with these, but she's her own worst enemy.
Race 7
(4) CONTROL TOWER has been rock solid in his last two and gets another ride at this NW20000 level clearly making the Surick trainee the one to beat here. (5) BLOOD BROTHER did finish up with willing pace off the lengthy layoff and the Banca trainee has license to be much better tonight. (2) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN went through the motions from the outside post last week in his seasonal debut and more can be expected from the Tritton trainee with the post relief.
Race 8
(6) BETTOR MEMORIES has looked good in his two return starts, including last week's no-chance effort where he came home with plenty; Nifty Norman trainee seems to have a big chance tonight. (1) BETTORS FIRE N didn't take any money and turned in a rare clunker last week and he failed to fire of cover; classy import is clearly better than that. (7) IMAROCNROLLEGEND N has been very solid for Dilloian and has the early speed to overcome the outside post.
Race 9
(3) OUR ZAK WHITBY A had some issues warming up last week and was a late scratch but he's right back in tonight and seemingly in a better spot to do some damage; sharp sort should fit well here. (6) SOMEWHERE IN L A is back up in class after prevailing on the front end last week; it goes without saying that he's a primary player here. (2) GUNPOWDER N didn't really fire last out but his prior efforts were solid.
Race 10
(2) SEVENS HOPE A has done good things at this level in the past and had the perfect 'tightener' last week from the eight hole; Garcia-Herrera obviously deserves a long look from this much more realistic spot. (5) ORILLIA JOE makes his second start in the Cory Stratton barn and he raced okay from off the pace last week; do we see some early speed from him tonight? I say yes. (3) SPORTS COLUMN rallied from well back for second last week at a big price and he's clearly trending in the right direction.
Race 11
(1) THEARTOFCONFUSION A could have been a bit closer late in his 2019 debut but was still a solid return race to be second best and the veteran should be able to build off that effort. (4) BELLOWS BINGE gets both class and post relief, and it wasn't too long ago he was an Open winner. (2) LACHIE MAGUIRE N figures to stay close up throughout and come away from this with some money.
Race 12
(1) ROCKATHON blasted down the road three back when starting from the rail with Stratton driving and while I would have preferred him to be in the bike again (he opted for #2) I suspect Brennan will have the Bucci trainee motivated from the get-go. (2) DR J HANOVER qualified effectively and clearly is a major threat right off the bench. (5) GRATIAN HANOVER has come back live for Team Bongiorno and he can fill out the bottom of the ticket here.
