Yonkers: Saturday 2/16 Analysis
MEET STATS: 36 - 96 / $194.90 BEST BETS: 5 - 8 / $15.40
Best Bet: BETTOR DESIGN (10th) Spot Play: BETTORS REWARD (4th)
Race 1
(3) SHOW ME UP gets a touch of needed class relief tonight and he's capable of taking charge from this spot. (5) BOMBAY AWAY also drops off a decent seasonal debut; Saunders trainee has always had ability. (7) JEPSON HANOVER is tough to endorse for the top spot based on his rather flat local debut where he was odds-on but he's capable of rallying for a share here.
Race 2
(4) HIGH OCTANE N finished very willingly for a board spot from the eight hole off the brief layoff. Veteran has a big shot if he's aggressively handled. (1) CHEYENNE KNIGHT returns to the small track and he had some moderate success here. (3) MONTREAL PHIL has been a disappointment for Lachance but he does have some speed.
Race 3
(5) IWANNARACEHANOVER has been awful in his last few but he drops in class and is capable of better. (3) CROMAC JOHNNY N appears to have some ability; Holland drives tonight. (2) TIDEWATER TEDDY draws well yet again and he's a good fit at this level.
Race 4
(4) BETTORS REWARD had no realistic chance in his last few. Three back he flashed good speed from post seven. Perhaps he can leave hard tonight. (1) ALIVEANDWELL N appears pretty logical from this spot but he's not a prolific winner. (6) ALL TIGER N has failed to produce since that claim; he's got class and deserves a look.
Race 5
(4) HI HO STEVERINO put in a decent eight-hole effort last out; veteran gets a timid vote from this spot. (2) BETTORS CURSE draws well and usually goes well from inside posts. (6) FIRETHORN has proven to have a big closing kick.
Race 6
(5) ELECTROFIRE has ascended from the claiming ranks to a legitimate Open threat. There could be live cover to be had from this spot. (4) SOMETHING FOR DOC gets a fortunate draw and is a big speed threat. (8) MR HASANI N has big-time talent but is saddled with the eight hole, and Sears opted off.
Race 7
(3) LETTUCEROCKU A grinded out a nice victory last out versus cheaper and he may have the class to handle this type. (7) RIVER SHARK was a good second last week to a classy rival over at The Meadowlands; he's best here but he has to overcome the outside post. (2) HANDSOME PRINCE is steady Burke stock.
Race 8
(2) ROCKIN ROBERT was a winner at this level two back, then proved overmatched versus Open types; Jack Franklin trainee is versatile and should be a big threat from this spot. (3) WHACKAMOLE HANOVER has been sharp in all recent starts. (1) REAL FLIGHT can land a share from the rail spot.
Race 9
(2) BLUERIDGE WESTERN has been flat recently but he does have loads of back class. Sears had his choice of three and he chose this one; capable of awakening. (4) PAN FROM NANTUCKET was pretty sharp in that qualifier and he's been competitive with these in the past. (1) OR was a winner at this level last week; obviously he's capable of repeating.
Race 10
(4) BETTOR DESIGN was outbattled in a tough beat last out; he's capable of rebounding with a live trip. (2) EIGHTEEN was shuffled and had no chance in his latest effort; he will be close to the pace tonight. (1) FRIDAYNIGHTFLIGHT failed at odds-on in last, now he faces tougher.
Race 11
(3) FOREST VIC A finished with pace after his usual ground-saving trip; Fourteen-year-old is still as strong as ever and he can take this with a fortunate trip. (2) DEFYING GRAVITY has been racing well over at The Meadowlands. (6) DADDY MAC drops again in his third local start and he should be a better fit at this level.
Race 12
(5) SILENT SWING showed some off-the-pace tactics to rally for small shares in the Open; I would expect him to show more speed tonight from this spot. (2) MODERN DAY CLYDE has a knack for saving ground and finishing with a florish; that can happen from this spot. (1) ELECTRIC SHOOTER should be live from the rail.
