Yonkers: Saturday 11/9 Analysis

Matt Rose|Nov 07, 2019
Yonkers Logo 1.5

2019 STATS: 490 - 1214 / $2,260.90 (-$167.10)
BEST BETS: 58 - 104 / $184.40 (-$23.60)
Best Bet:
SHOREVIEW (2nd)
Spot Play: TREMENDOUS PLAY (4th)
Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(2) STOLEN CAR returned locally last week at this reduced level and did get moderately involved from the eight hole but was never a serious threat; post relief and switch back to Bartlett can get this veteran over the top. (5) MCSPIDEY usually flourishes at this level and seems impossible not to include versus this type. (6) SPORTS BETTOR lands another tough spot with his main competition to his inside but he’s more than capable of rallying for a share. (4) ER ROCK MY WORLD exits claimers for the Chris Height barn after a no-chance eight-hole try and the gelding could be more involved tonight.
Race 2 - $40,000 Claiming
(4) SHOREVIEW was a seasonal 0-fer then was claimed by Jenn Bongiorno and has taken three of five; with Normandy Beach out of the class this gelding can be the top dog. (1) BLAISE MM HANOVER has raced pretty well in his last three versus similar and he moves all the way inside to the best post; expect Marohn, Jr. to take full advantage of this spot and be aggressive. (2) WINDSONG JACK was reclaimed by Allard and while he’s done his best work a level down he’s currently sharp enough to be considered. (7) FIREBALL converted off the DiDomenico claim but he now faces better from a tough outside post; certainly not impossible, however.
Race 3 - $75,000 Claiming
Last week we saw millionaire pacer Scott Rocks drop in for this $75K tag and he won convincingly at 1/9 odds. Tonight there’s a similar scenario as (2) SOMEWHERE IN L A comes up priced to sell and he’s certainly got plenty of life left in those legs. (1) SCOTT ROCKS was taken by Allard and drops back in the box while drawing best; hard to look past these two veterans. (3) ARTMAGIC has performed well in all recent races and he should land another nice share here. (4) KEYSTONE PHOENIX is ambitiously placed versus some tough ones after graduating from the age-restricted NW ranks.
Race 4 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(4) TREMENDOUS PLAY went a tremendous effort at tremendous overlay odds last week when he was second best to a sharp-looking winner; similar tactics where he’s put in play early by Bartlett can get the Banca trainee into the winner’s circle. (1) MOHAWK WARRIOR had no real excuse to blow second as the classy winner got away last out but he’s better than that and he gets another chance from the best post. (2) DREAM OUT LOUD N was a winner first-out for new connections and while he double-jumps the ladder tonight he’s classy enough to be competitive here. (3) LIGHTNINGONMYFEET is a money-maker for live connections but he doesn’t win often enough for my tastes.
Race 5 – Preferred Handicap Trot
(6) TIGHT LINES gets to face a bit softer this week after going a big effort in defeat, gunned down by the classy Melady’s Monet. Post presents a bit of a problem but the Jeff Gregory trainee is talented enough to overcome any obstacles. (3) STORMY KROMER has been very sharp for an extended period of time and his good gate speed should serve him well from this spot. (7) EYE OFA TIGER AS has been a bit off his game of late but I wouldn’t completely discount his chances. (4) SWANSEA is another sharp one in this competitive event.
Race 6 – Open Handicap Pace
(4) THE REAL ONE never really menaced last start when he stayed in and went evenly on the rail; Lachance-trained veteran is more proven than some others in here and if he’s within striking distance turning home he’ll have a legit chance. (5) JACK’S LEGEND N was a nice earner Down-Under and he qualified four times in preparation for his U.S. debut; I suspect the Banca trainee will attract plenty of attention from the betting public. (1) DANCIN DRAGON is a 4-year-old who’s proven he’s talented enough to go with this type and he was second best from a similar spot three back. (7) HAVEFAITHINME N and (6) ALLUNEEDISFAITH N have both been hard to fault in all recent outings but the posts will make things tough.
Race 7 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(1) OSTRO HANOVER failed at 20 cents on the dollar from a similar spot three back but this feels like a good spot to make amends. (4) TIGER BARON hasn’t been on his best game of late but he does move back inside off a decent eight-hole effort. (5) MARTY MONKHOUSER A faces better in his fourth start off the Cory Stratton claim, and he’s totally turned it around for his new barn. (6) TOPVILLE OLYMPIAN moves to the Banca barn, picks up Bartlett and merits a look.
Race 8 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(2) ANTHEM N elected to stay in the three hole last start, finished with pace but was never given a realistic chance of winning; Tritton trainee faces a touch softer while drawing well again and we’ll see what he has with smooth sailing. (7) OUR MAX PHACTOR N gets needed class relief but is stuck outside with some potential speed types inside of him; don’t take too short of a price. (1) FINE DIAMOND faces better off two rugged victories; sharp sort draws best and would be no surprise. (5) DECLAN SEELSTER just missed here two back in a good try.
Race 9 - $75,000 Claiming
(7) IDEAL COWBOY has been razor-sharp and it took a well-rated Bit Of A Legend N to snap his winning streak; he’s got strong early speed which can set him up nicely in this tough-to-figure event. (4) NORMANDY BEACH was the King of the $40K claimers and now gets priced at $75K off the Allard claim; he’s clearly capable of winning again. (5) BLATANTLY BEST raced okay last week and is another in here with a chance. (1) SAMS A CHAMP A returns locally now in for a tag and he’s raced well here in the past.
Race 10 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(4) MILITARY MASTER A saved ground and finished well last start to be second best; Lance Hudson trainee returns to Stratton tonight in seemingly a very live spot. (5) ANYTHINGFORLOVE A will undoubtedly be on the move early but the Jenn Bongiorno trainee needs to show a bit more late. (3) BETTOR MEMORUES has missed a few weeks of action but qualified back fine and should be good to go. (2) PROVEN DESIRE gets some needed class and post relief.
Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(2) SAN DOMINO A pretty much toured the track last start from a tough spot coming off a sick scratch; Harris trainee drops in class, moves inside and was Bartlett’s choice. (1) TYMAL PEACEMAKER has been a steady commodity at this level for Lachance. (5) CAVIART LUCA finished with plenty of energy last week to be second best and this Burke-trained veteran must always be considered with this type. (4) PACING MAJOR N was awfully disappointing last start; he’s better than that.
