2019 STATS: 518 - 1310 / $2,404.10 (-$215.90)
BEST BETS: 62 - 112 / $198.90 (-$25.10)
Best Bet: DOJEA SOLO (1st)
Spot Play: SAYING GRACE N (6th)
Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(8) DOJEA SOLO raced very well off the Banca claim but was the victim of a shuffle; veteran has more than enough speed to fire out and loop this field into the first turn. (2) ER ROCK MY WORLD was aggressively handled last start and gave way under pressure; he draws well again and should be sitting a nice close-up trip, perhaps even in the pocket. (4) CHACHING HANOVER could have been better last week but overall he’s been okay and he fits well at this level. (3) SPORTSKEEPER gets Dube in the bike again and could show some improvement.
Race 2 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(7) MOSTINTERESTINGMAN never got involved last week when dropped to this level and he draws poorly again tonight but he’s beaten much better than these in the past and can have a big chance if Brennan can get him in play early. (5) THE LAST CHAPTER returns locally and has had his moments here in the past; Bartlett’s choice. (2) ADAGIO DE LA TOUR needed that last start after the injured scratch and didn’t race all that badly; post relief helps as well. (3) SOUTHWIND CRUZE has been close in his last two for Team Bongiorno and he looms a player here.
Race 3 - $40,000 Claiming
(6) ART SCENE was a sharp two-move winner coming off the mini-break and the Banca trainee seems good enough now to handle the hike in class. (4) WINDSONG JACK was looped and used too hard last week; he’s better with a notch below but still should be considered from this decent starting spot. (1) GALACTIC GALLEON N moves all the way inside and can save ground for a share. (3) SWIFT AS A SHADOW needed last week’s start and he gets Jordan Stratton back in the bike tonight.
Race 4 – F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts
(1) SANDY’S BEACH has been hinting at better form recently and it’s impossible not to notice the major post relief. (3) THRILLONTHEBEACH has been pretty good since shipping to the U.S. from Canada and joining the Bamond barn; Bartlett’s choice. (5) LYNBAR ROSE N raced okay last start in her local return and perhaps could have move to offer tonight. (2) ASKMYSECRETARY seems a bit on the cheaper side but that was a good second-place effort last out.
Race 5 - $75,000 Claiming
(4) IDEAL FLIP gave it a good try last week in his debut at this high claiming level after missing a few weeks and the Erv Miller trainee could be tighter tonight. (2) KEYSTONE PHOENIX just never looked right last week but he’s back with Bongiorno tonight looking to rebound. (1) SCOTT ROCKS can be excused for last week’s race where he pulled up with broken equipment; he’s failed to deliver so far off the $75K claim by Allard but he’ll turn it around eventually. (7) DENVER SEESLTER has been razor-sharp but unfortunately he draws the worst post.
Race 6 – Open Handicap Pace
(6) SAYING GRACE N went a solid trip in his local debut, losing to a well-meant trip-sitter. He deserves following up off that effort. (5) HAVEFAITHINME N goes for back-to-back wins and can be on the move early again with Bartlett. (4) THE REAL ONE will come out of this with a good share but as usual it come down to the trip. (8) WINDSONG LEO lands the worst post in his local return but the Burke trainee is razor-sharp.
Race 7 – F&M NW15000 in last 5 starts
(3) LOVIN MISS DAISY N makes her debut for Team Bongiorno via private purchase and she seems to fit well here in a race with no standouts; mare could pay instant dividends tonight. (2) BRONZE OVER N hasn’t been firing her best recently but the DiDomenico charge has beaten this type in the past and she should never be too far back. (1) LINE DANCER is best at lower levels but she’s got speed and the best post; pocket trip tonight? (6) SANDY WIN ships from The Meadows for new connections where she’s been knocking heads with some of the top stock there; Bartlett picks up the catch drive.
Race 8 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(4) TECHTOR HANOVER rallied well from off the pace last start and the versatile veteran has tactical options from this post; Don Sider trainee seems as good as any in here and should offer decent value. (1) HEREHECOMESAROCKIN bumps up a notch off a nice win and while he looks a bit cheaper than some of the others in here he could be live from this spot. (6) BLACK CHEVRON N qualified effectively and was Bartlett’s choice over a couple of other legit rivals. (7) BENHOPE RULZ N moves to a new barn, picks up Holland and while he starts from a tough post he seems worthy of a look, especially at a good price.
Race 9 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(4) HOT DEUCE faltered on the front end in his debut for the Jenn Bongiorno barn but his prior start was a surprising off-the-pace win; freelegged pacer could be tighter in his second start for these connections. (6) IDEAL ONE A qualified very willingly at Freehold in preparation for his U.S. debut for Dolloian; he’s listed at 20/1 on the morning line but check the board for signs of life. (3) MACH DORO A has been inconsistent lately for Cushing but when on his game he’s as good or better than most of these. (1) MCARDLES LIGHTNING never got close last week from post eight but his prior two races were solid wins versus lesser; major post relief can help him hit the ticket.
Race 10 – F&M NW31800 in last 5 starts
(1) ROBYN CAMDEN is a mare I’ve been following for some time and she finally returned to the win column last week with a strong off-the-pace rally; she’s a clear candidate to repeat having landed the best post. (4) MACH IT A PAR seems to be feeling good again and the classy Banca trainee can never be counted out; Bartlett’s choice. (2) LADY DELA RENTA A finished crisply last week after escaping a shuffle; player. (6) BARON REMY did win last out versus lesser but has not been overly impressive since arriving locally for Burke; I’ll use underneath only.
Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(4) SOMEWHERE IN L A was expertly driven by Bartlett last week winning from the eight hole, holding off Bit Of A Legend N in the process to complete the “all-class exacta”; veteran moves back up the ladder but is sharp enough to repeat. (3) ATTA BOY DAN was just “ok” upon arrival but the 19-time winner this year probably benefitted from that acclimating effort. (5) SOHO LENNON A got hung to dry last week and can be excused for that race but the veteran had been solid in prior starts; his trip is uncertain tonight but the price should be right and he can be included on the ticket. (6) BRIGHT DIAMOND N went down the road last week never in doubt but the Jenn Bongiorno trainee will have to work much harder tonight in order to repeat.
Race 12 – NW30150 in last 5 starts
(2) LARRY KARR returns to Yonkers off three convincing wins at Philly while moving up the class ladder; Brennan can make one early move to the front here to make it four straight. (1) ROCK DIAMONDS N is a legit threat to blast off early for Cushing and either take these the distance or yield for stalking trip. (3) GRATIAN HANOVER was game in defeat last out and he is sharp enough to pick up another good piece. (6) BIT OF A LEGEND N obviously faces an uphill climb tonight but it’s hard not to include him somewhere on the ticket.
