2019 STATS: 473 - 1172 / $2,174.20 (-$169.80)
BEST BETS: 57 - 100 / $179.00 (-$21.00)
Best Bet: RODEO ROCK (6th)
Spot Play: VINNY GAMBINI N (7th)
Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(2) LONDON SEELSTER hasn’t had a realistic chance in his last few starts, facing better from poor outside posts; this is obviously a better spot. (1) FULLBACK doesn’t have a great win resume but he keeps Bartlett and the Vallee trainee moves all the way inside. (3) HUNDIE N likely needed last week’s start and he can offer more tonight. (8) STOLEN CAR fits nicely with this type but the eight hole likely limits his chances.
Race 2 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(6) THERESADEMONINME hasn’t won in quite some time but he’s been right there in a number of starts facing better; Bartlett picks up the catch-drive tonight and hopefully he can get away in good order. (3) STORMY KROMER was very good in defeat last week and the Stafford trainee can be forwardly placed again. (1) DAYSON is a bit inconsistent but an obvious player if he’s in the mood. (2) BARRY BLACK is back at a more realistic level and with a good post; he can carve out a share.
Race 3 - $40,000 Claiming
(4) NORMANDY BEACH could not seal the deal last week as the pocket-sitter sailed by him late; that rival isn’t in here tonight and the Erv Miller trainee should resume winning ways. (3) BRO HANOVER seemed unrateable last week as he didn’t release a rival and ended up cooked; he’s back in for a tag tonight and can be a threat if he relaxes. (2) MACH TIME N inherits the rail with the inside scratch and the Banca trainee should be in line for a good trip. (7) BLAISE MM HANOVER is stuck outside again; maybe he can pick up a minor share.
Race 4 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(2) BIT OF A LEGEND N tried to brush to the lead and got denied the front by a hot rival then ended up going just a brutal trip; it’s nice to see he’s right back in the box seemingly ready to go. (1) IDEAL COWBOY has been razor-sharp for a hot barn and he seems good enough to handle the bump in class. (5) ACTING OUT has raced well in his last couple and the Banca trainee should land another good share tonight. (3) LIGHTNING ONMYFEET doesn’t win often but he does draw better and can hang around for a small piece.
Race 5 - $75,000 Claiming
(1) SCOTT ROCKS pretty much went through the motions in his last two from the eight hole; classy veteran drops in for this $75K tag tonight and should be able to take these the distance. (3) BLATANTLY BEST was a sharp winner five back then was stuck in tough outside spots; move inside obviously helps his cause. (6) ARTMAGIC was in NW5000 not too long ago and now is being considered in a high claimer; he can threaten with a smooth trip. (8) SAULSBROOK DEPUTY has been very good in his last two for Banca; post hurts, obviously.
Race 6 – Preferred Pace
(1) RODEO ROCK was badly shuffled in his last local try and followed that up with a sharp score at Philly; he lands the best post here in this open draw and that makes him the one to beat. (4) HAVEFAITHINME N was a good second last week to Micky Gee N and he looks like a clear player here. (3) ROCK DIAMONDS N has good early speed which should set up the Cushing charge in a nice spot. (7) DANCIN DRAGON has been overachieving of late; post hurts but he can land a minor share.
Race 7 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(4) VINNY GAMBINI N has made his way up the class ladder with three solid efforts since shipping in to Yonkers; Temming trainee currently seems as good as any here in this competitive event. (5) COMMENTARIAT held pretty gamely for second last week after being uncovered into the drawing-away odds-on favorite; Bartlett sticks. (1) ROCKIN M lost touch last start from the eight hole in a poor effort but his race two back was perfectly fine. (8) TIGER BARON does fit with these nicely but needs a perfect steer from the eight hole to land a piece.
Race 8 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(2) RAUKAPUKA RULER N saved ground in his U.S. debut then appeared to have plenty of late pace in traffic; Tritton trainee should be ready to roll tonight. (5) FRANCO TOTEM N hasn’t broken through into the win column yet after arriving from Down-Under but those were three pretty good efforts in defeat over at The Meadowlands; watch the board here and consider the Norman trainee. (3) BALLERAT BOOMERANG gets a little bit of class relief and can awaken. (1) RANCOUSY had too far to come in his last three but prior to that he was a very game uncovered winner; post relief makes him a player.
Race 9 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(3) SOMEWHERE IN L A isn’t the most reliable sort anymore but he’s still tough to pass on at this level, especially from a decent post. (4) LUIS ALBERTO N has had his moments here in the past and he was a sharp-closing third in his last start off a good flow; import figures to be a bit closer to the action tonight. (2) GOKUDO HANOVER has been unable to seal the deal recently which makes him tough to use on top but he still deserves to be considered. (1) KIMANI N was a good second last week to the well-rated odds-on winner.
Race 10 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(5) MAC’S JACKPOT was awesome in victory last week, wearing down the sharp pacesetter and drew off convincingly late; gelding is clearly capable of repeating. (3) OUR MAX PHACTOR N was gunned down by the sharp Mach It So last start and he’s clearly trending in the right direction. (1) TYMAL PEACEMAKER has proven that he can be competitive with this type for Lachance. (2) GRATIAN HANOVER is up in class off a win and is probably looking at a smaller piece this week.
Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
In a competitive finale, (2) MIKE’S Z TAM has quietly had a nice season for Lachance and while he’s still winless locally this does feel like a good spot; tepid call. (1) SOHO LENNON A is clearly feeling good again and he draws the rail again looking for two straight; big chance. (3) BLOOD BROTHER is probably best suited against a bit lesser but in a race with no standouts the Banca-trained veteran has a chance. (5) SUNFIRE BLUE CHIP has missed almost a month otherwise he would be rated higher.
