Race 1
(2) TEXICAN N was less-than-inspiring in his return to the races but I'll be stubborn and stay on board one more time in this pretty weak NW10000 event. (3) HORSING AROUND has missed time off a sick scratch but he draws well enough and gets Bartlett in the bike for a good barn. (5) HIGHLAND TARTAN is still 0 for the season but almost always picks up checks; class relief should really help his cause.
Race 2
(3) TWOMACSONESHADOW has been overmatched at the 4YO Open level but has dominated in his last two efforts versus $30,000 claimers; he moves into the $40K level and could be up to the task. (4) ALLSTAR PARTNER was a well-rated and well-meant winner last week; I suspect he may have to work harder in order to repeat. (2) CANBEC KINGKAZIMIR raced pretty well last week and should be close up throughout from this spot.
Race 3
(3) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN probably should have been better in his last two but certainly didn't disgrace himself; class relief here should help the Tritton trainee. (1) SIR PUGSLEY hit the ticket in his last two tries at the Open 4YO level and the Burke trainee will be well-placed from the rail. (6) GRATIAN HANOVER lands another tough outside post but he clearly can go with this type; consider using in all spots.
Race 4
(7) AIR STRIKE has looked like a monster in his last three and can be trouble again if he hits the lead. (3) MAC'S JACKPOT is back at this level after firing from the pocket last week and he can do damage from this decent post assignment. (3) MACHIAVELLI was used early to secure position and did well to hold second to the runaway top choice last week.
Race 5
(2) CAPOZZO was nipped on the money last out after cutting a rated pace; veteran can do it from on or off the pace versus some unreliable rivals. (1) SPRINTER N always looks good on paper but doesn't have the greatest local record. (4) TAKE IT BACK TERRY has been struggling to the late stages and closing too late recently; tough to take on top.
Race 6
(1) GREAT VINTAGE gives 110% week in and week out and the Takter-trained veteran gets the best of the draw here and will look to trip out. (2) BETTOR MEMORIES has been on an extended form spree and looks to have a shot hiking to the top level. (3) TECHTOR HANOVER may be a touch above his best level but he has solid speed which can set him up for a good trip.
Race 7
(2) SHANE ADAM got away with murder on the front end last week and won at a very healthy mutuel; Banca trainee faces much of the same tonight and seems capable of repeating. (4) SOHO LENNON A bumps up a notch looking for three straight and doesn't meet the toughest field. (3) SHNEONUCRZYDIAMND A has proven capable with these given a smooth ground-saving trip, which may be the journey he looks for again tonight.
Race 8
(2) THE WAYFARING MAN steps up to this Preferred level off a game uncovered win; Burke trainee lands a good spot in this open draw and may be sharp enough to repeat. (4) GOKUDO HANOVER hasn't had the best of luck in his last two but he's good enough to compete here. (6) PACING MAJOR N would likely be my top choice if not for the worst post.
Race 9
(1) MCERLEAN paced evenly last week as no threat in a much-needed start; if he's anything close to what he's capable of he can crush these. (3) PHIL YOUR BOOTS didn't fire from the pocket upon hiking to this level but his early speed should set him up with another live trip. (8) DR J HANOVER clearly isn't at his best and now is stuck all the way outside but it's impossible to just ignore him at this level.
Race 10
(7) BLAISE MM HANOVER blasted to the front and only got nailed in the final strides last week; Godinez trainee faces a field with some question marks and may be sent off at a juicy price. (2) SPORTY SPOOK A was uncovered last out and didn't fire as the odds-on chalk; Bartlett drives tonight. (1) ZACH MAGUIRE N gets needed post relief and will be more involved.
