Best Bet: TIGER BARON (7th)
Spot Play: DON DOMINGO N (9th)
Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(6) MACH TIME N dropped from claimers last start and was a sharp front-end winner at a nice price; he faces a bit tougher here but the Banca trainee could be up to the task; Bartlett’s choice. (1) NASCAR SEELSTER put in a nice effort in defeat last week and he draws another good post. (2) LORD OF MISRULE gets needed post relief for top connections but he has just one win on the season and is tough to take on top. (3) BETTOR’S PROMISE was stubborn on the front end last out before tiring and he’s looked good since returning from Minnesota.
Race 2 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(1) IM THE MUSCLE was an easy winner in his last two starts at this level and starting from the best post makes the Allard trainee a major player. (4) LORD CROMWELL is also a perfect fit at this NW30000 level and is tough not to include. (2) MELADY’S MONET looked good finishing in last week’s Open and the ultra-classy veteran deserves a ton of respect. (3) DAYSON gets Brennan back in the bike tonight for Burke.
Race 3 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
In a race with multiple contenders, (6) SLICK MICK has raced well in three starts since shipping from Ohio for Virgil Morgan, Jr and Bartlett chose him over a couple of other contenders; let’s see if he can generate some early speed to get him more involved. (8) SPORTS BETTOR is stuck in the dreaded eight hole but he fits well with this type; gelding does have some early foot and Holland usually isn’t shy about trying to send one. (1) DRUNK ON YOUR LOVE returns locally off a good effort at Pocono and he draws the best post but the Mark Ford barn is having an alarmingly poor meet which makes him tough to consider on top. (2) RUPP beat up on cheaper last start and he did show a solid effort at this level four back.
Race 4 - $40,000 Claiming
(2) SHOREVIEW was claimed by Jenn Bongiorno three back and promptly ended his long losing streak then last week had no chance from the eight hole; pacer picks up Bartlett tonight with his regular pilot out of town and he can make some serious noise from this improved post. (3) NORMANDY BEACH got nailed at the wire last week but the Erv Miller trainee has shown that he’s a legit $40K claimer and he has plenty of early speed. (1) SWIFT AS A SHADOW has successfully hiked the claiming ladder and he goes for his fourth straight. (5) WINDSONG JACK dropped and popped last start in a confidence-building effort.
Race 5 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(2) RONNIES ROCKET has finished with solid pace in his last two after ground-saving trips and the Banca trainee lands another good post; 4-year-old seems overdue for a win. (1) TOPVILLE OLYMPIAN is back up a notch in class off a nice two-move winning effort and the Oakes trainee will be a major player from the best post. (7) LUCIANO N continues to draw poorly but overall he’s been racing well and he does have the early speed to overcome the post. (3) FULLBACK has finished crisply in his last two for Vallee.
Race 6 – Open Pace
(2) MAC’S JACKPOT went a game and rugged trip parked the mile last out and lived to tell about it; he lands a very good post in this open draw and I’m sure Holland won’t let the opportunity pass. (6) THEARTOFCONFUSION A failed to get involved in his last couple after taking two straight in dominating fashion; let’s see if he can get more involved tonight. (5) THE REAL ONE also failed to enter the fray last week but you can never count the Lachance-trained millionaire out. (3) SAN DOMINO A didn’t fire while uncovered into an accelerated back half last start and now he’s missed a couple of week; consider, but use caution.
Race 7 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(2) TIGER BARON has more than held his own versus better recently and this looks like a perfect spot for the Bucci trainee to convert. (1) MCSPIDEY returns to Yonkers and lands the best post; Adamczyk trainee has been competitive with this type in the past. (4) ARTMAGIC couldn’t seal the deal on the front end last week versus lesser but overall his form has been solid. (3) BETTING EXCHANGE was used early and ended up third anyway, then didn’t threaten from there last out; he should be near the pace again and can land a share.
Race 8 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(5) ALBERGO HANOVER raced well enough to win in his last two starts but ran into a tough rival in Don Domingo N; Jenn Bongiorno trainee may have a direct path to the front tonight with Brennan driving. (2) SOMEWHERE IN L A easily disposed of lesser last week and is obviously good enough to repeat. (6) MILIRATY MASTER A drops in class and keeps Stratton but drawing outside of his main competition will make things tough. (4) OSTRO HANOVER is a bit inconsistent but the talent is there.
Race 9 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(3) DON DOMINGO N faces a much tougher task tonight but the Lance Hudson trainee may be sharp enough to get it done. (6) IDEAL FLIP was a solid second in the Open 4YO last week, which ended up being a record-equaling mile; post hurts but the price should be decent. (2) LUIS ALBERTO N has disappointed a bit in his last couple but was chasing a fast pace in each; with a smooth trip the import can land a nice piece. (4) ODDS ON DELRAY faces tougher here for Alagna but he was very good chasing down the leader last week and perhaps can have more to offer.
Race 10 – NW31000 in last 5 starts
(2) GREAT VINTAGE is a gutsy 11-year-old veteran who is obviously feeling good again and has a legit shot to take these wire-to-wire if not used too hard. (4) CAVIART LUCA was uninvolved last week but the post relief helps. (6) PRAIRIE PANTHER got going too late last week upon arrival but did finish swiftly; post and lack of early speed hurts again. (8) MICKY GEE N drops in class and almost unbelievably lands yet another bad post; note that Stratton sticks with him over Bit Of A Legend N.
Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(1) SAULSBROOK DEPUTY was taken for $40K by Banca and now moves into this conditioned race while drawing the best post; gelding figures to be looking at a live trip in the finale. (5) REBELLIOUS was uncovered into a paceless race last week but Marohn can get more aggressive tonight. (2) BLUEBIRD RECON faces better off a nice effort in defeat first-out for Abbatiello. (6) SHNEONUCRZYDIAMND A fits well with these but the post hurts.
