Race 1
(1) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN gets much-needed post relief and should be in line for a perfect trip; Tritton trainee gets one final chance. (3) SANTA FE BEACHBOY took a needed break and qualified effectively; Banca charge has beaten better than these in the past. (7) ROLAND N ROCK burned the money last week setting a quick clip on the engine; he'll be a price tonight if you want to stay on board.
Race 2
(2) ROAD UNTRAVELED has raced decently in his two starts off the Allard claim and he draws well again versus a field with plenty of question marks. (1) STARSKY'S DREAM N bumps up the ladder off a win and certainly faces no standouts; big threat from the best post with the leading driver. (3) BEACH MEMORIES has yet to prove he belongs at this level and his driver doesn't have much local experience; use caution.
Race 3
(1) TEXAS TERROR N raced okay in his last couple while being too far back to threaten; veteran still seems in good form and lands the best post. (7) GIVENUPDREAMING never got involved last week; prior starts were good, however, and he gets Bartlett back in the bike. (6) A BETTOR HAT wouldn't shock me if Brennan tried firing from the gate.
Race 4
(4) SPORTY SPOOK A has been saddled with outside posts in his last few and has raced well but just had too far to come; he moves in a couple of slots and may still be sharp enough to convert with a better trip. (3) CHANGE STRIDE N was a strong winner last week and gets a free ride at this level; Vallee trainee is the one to beat. (8) QUICK ASA TRICK N fits at this level and may find a way to sneak into the number at a big price.
Race 5
(3) ANOTHER DAILY COPY finally lands inside his main competition and I imagine he'll be revved up and ready to go from this spot. (4) ROLL AWAY JOE was game in defeat last out and should be on the move early again. (7) PACING MAJOR N is stuck in a tough outside spot tonight and may only figure for a smaller share but he should be a juicy price.
Race 6
Assuming the intent is there (and why wouldn't it be), (6) BIT OF LEGEND N should be able to work his way to the front without too much trouble then rate and score over these. (4) DR J HANOVER was a solid winner last week and his sharp form should carry over nicely from this spot. (5) THE REAL ONE gets some needed post relief and is obviously a player tonight, but did he get discouraged from those recent uninvolved efforts?
Race 7
(4) WESTERN DYNASTY put in a good effort in defeat versus similar two back and followed that up with an easy win versus 4-year-olds; Banca trainee seems sharp enough to take another. (5) BAKERSFIELD gave way late on the engine last week but he has proven that he fits with these. (1) ARTFUL WAY gets much-needed post relief and looms a player but he has a low percentage driver in the bike; use caution.
Race 8
(1) GRATIAN HANOVER hasn't put in a bad effort since returning to Team Bongiorno, elevating from NW5000 to the Open; gelding gets needed class relief tonight while drawing best and will be a big player from this spot. (4) TECHTOR HANOVER has been razor-sharp for a barn that has been showing some life of late. (3) WINDSONG LEO has been super since joining the Burke Brigade; let's see how he handles better.
Race 9
(8) THREE OF CLUBS is stuck outside but he does have solid early foot and meets a rather soft field of $50K claimers. (1) SOME PLAYA moves all the way inside off a string of outside posts. (3) FIERY LUSTRE N drops back in for a tag after showing some signs of life; Bartlett sticks.
Race 10
(5) DO OVER HANOVER took money in the Open 4YO but never got involved from the outside post; start prior he beat similar at odds-on. (4) MEMORY GAME has been very good of late and will offer value with an out-of-town driver at the controls. (2) WINDS OF CHANGE showed little in that qualifier but he clearly has the ability to compete here.
Race 11
I loved (5) SOMESIZESOMESTYLE last out commenting that he should stalk the pace and blow by late, so of course he cut the mile and fell on his face. Veteran has missed a couple of weeks but should offer better value tonight and is worth considering. (3) ALOTBETTOR N lands in a much better spot tonight and I suspect he'll take plenty of action at the windows. (1) AMERICANPRIMETIME gets needed post relief and is capable of taking these a long way.
Race 12
(2) CAVIART LUCA drops in class and finds a much, much better spot tonight; Burke trainee looms large in the finale. (7) SOMEWHERE IN L A also drops and is clearly the most talented in here; one of these top two classy geldings will win this race. (3) COOPERSTOWN is much better than he showed last week and you'll get a better price tonight if you stick with him.
