Yonkers: Saturday 10/21 Analysis

Matt Rose|Oct 19, 2017
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: ROLAND N ROCK (1st)

Spot Play: COOPERSTOWN (7th)

MEET STATS: 411 - 1176 / $2,254.30

BEST BETS: 59 - 100 / $194.60

Race 1

(2) ROLAND N ROCK was a solid two-move front-end winner just five days ago and gets a free ride from a similar spot; repeats at odds-on. (3) SAMMY THE BULL N returns locally off a good race at Pocono and he's usually a player when drawn well. (8) GIVENUPDREAMING certainly fits with these but needs to find a way into the race from the eight hole; definitely worth including underneath.

Race 2

(4) WYNBERG COURAGE N was racing against better when last here and he faces a field with plenty of question marks; gelding needs a trip but I like the Brent Holland angle. (5) ROCK N ROLL LEGACY was very good in his first two local starts but may have tailed off; he drops in for a tag tonight and we'll see how he fits. (6) THREE OF CLUBS got nipped by the trip-sitter last out and Brennan figures to have him forwardly placed off the gate again.

Race 3

(5) TYBER TYKE has shown little in his last few starts but he's reunited with Brennan, who steered him to victory versus better a couple of months ago. (2) CHEVALS CLIVESDALE drops, gets post relief and has the leading driver in the bike; logical but probably overbet. (6) BETTOREVER was third best to a couple of good ones last out after flashing good speed.

Race 4

(1) BLOOD BROTHER makes his second start at this reduced level, draws best and is the one to beat. (3) DANCIN YANKEE has been sharp up at Saratoga and the veteran is still going strong despite plenty of miles on the odometer. (5) TEXAS TERROR N really had no chance last out but was sharp the start prior.

Race 5

(4) CAPOZZO has never been one of my favorites but he's actually been racing pretty well recently and he meets a camera-shy field. (2) PANCHESTER UNITED didn't really fire last out off the Robertson claim but he faces softer here. (8) KEPT UNDER WRAPS A has underwhelmed since arriving in the U.S. and he's stuck way outside but let's see if Bartlett tries to get him into play; watch the board for clues (if that still works).

Race 6

(6) DAYSON is a stakes player when he's at his best and he returns to Yonkers to meet a pretty soft Open field; Burke trainee deserves top billing. (5) MURMUR HANOVER is undefeated since moving to the Gannon barn and he beat a couple of nice horses last week at Philly. (7) CONSOLIDATOR has been razor sharp since moving to the Allard barn and he was the Open winner here two weeks ago; I know he starts from the outside but 20/1 morning line?

Race 7

(2) COOPERSTOWN faces a softer field dropping from the Open, lands a nice inside post and was Bartlett's choice; expect an aggressive effort. (6) DR J HANOVER really had no excuse in his local return but his early speed always gives him a chance; I wonder why he's not in the 4YO Open, however. (7) CAVIART LUCA raced better last week out of town and he can certainly go with these on his best.

Race 8

(6) GUANTANAMO BAY never got involved last out from the eight hole but was a solid winner the start prior with Bartlett driving; it wasn't too long ago he was a legit Levy player. (2) MEMORY GAME has been very sharp in his last two but has missed a couple of weeks and enters a new barn; tough to use, but tough to throw out. (3) ALTA JEROME N has been rock-solid in all his recent efforts.

Race 9

(5) PACING MAJOR N pretty much went through the motions from the eight hole last out but still rallied late for a check; he gets the best of the outer draw tonight and the Tritton trainee can resume winning ways. (3) WESTERN DYNASTY was game in defeat last week and he did wire this type five back with Bartlett driving. (4) BLAISE MM HANOVER showed a rare off-the-pace rally in last; player.

Race 10

(6) SPORTY SPOOK A took some money but had a tough time getting involved chasing a rated pace with dull flow five days ago; if he can somehow get towed into the race he has a chance at a price. (4) DREAM OUT LOUD N beat similar two back on the engine but may have an early problem with the speedy (3) THE REV to the inside of him. That one is a threat to take these all the way.

Race 11

(5) MONEY MAVEN and (7) RUBBER DUCK both drop from the Open into this seemingly easier spot and I'll give my vote to the 'Maven' who has a post and speed edge. (2) SUMATRA has raced pretty well in all recent and he looks best of the rest from this spot.

Race 12

(3) BAKERSFIELD was a solid two-move winner last week and seems capable of repeating despite the bump in class. (1) MOONLITEONTHEBEACH ripped out of the pocket to score in last and should look for a similar trip. (4) BORDER CONTROL A has been razor-sharp since returning from Canada but faces a tougher task tonight.
