Race 1 – NW10000 in last 5 starts
(2) BET ON BRETT has regained his stride in his last few while facing cheaper out of town and the Allard trainee was facing better with some success here a few months ago. (7) DECLAN SEELSTER may have a bit of a problem departing from the outside post but he’s as sharp as any in here and should be a big player if not too roughed up. (5) SOLID ASA ROCK A was a nice off-the-pace winner in last week’s bulky field and the Banca trainee keeps Bartlett; threat. (1) SPORTSKEEPER gets much-needed post relief and he was an easy front-end winner when last in this class.
Race 2 – NW30600 in last 5 starts Trot
(1) THERESADEMONINME has more than held his own versus better than these and from the best post new driver Stratton can create his own luck. (4) PAT MATTERS has just 10 starts this season but the 4-year-old mare has won half of them; Nifty Norman trainee looks like a big player here. (5) TACO TUESDAY is up in class again for Team Bongiorno and the speedy gelding looks for three straight. (6) ICANFLYLIKEANANGEL was a tad overmatched in the Harry Harvey last Saturday afternoon but overall the trotter has been much-improved since moving to the DiDomenico barn; include.
Race 3 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(2) THE WALL had no chance in his last local try but he returns off a win at the top level at Freehold and don’t forget he was a Levy finalist this season; Surick trainee looks perfectly spotted here. (4) LIGHTNING ONMYFEET doesn’t win all that often but he gets much-needed post relief and will be more involved tonight as Brennan’s choice. (7) PROVOCATIVEPRINCEN has really turned it around in his last couple and the Tritton-trained veteran is worth consideration here at what should be a good price. (5) TOATSMYGOATS put in a steady effort on the rim last start for a nice third-place share.
Race 4 - $40,000 Claiming
(1) NORMANDY BEACH is a neck and a head shy of a four-race winning streak; Erv Miller trainee is no cinch here but is clearly the one to catch. (7) SHOREVIEW has taken two of three off the Jenn Bongiorno claim and did hold the top choice at bay last start; he’s got the speed to overcome the outside draw. (4) PROLOGUE has something to prove versus this type but the Allard trainee has been razor-sharp. (6) SWIFT AS A SHADOW may have too much ground to cover from this spot but he should be motoring late.
Race 5 – NW15000 in last 5 starts
(3) PHOTOBOMBR HANOVER woke up with a nice, better effort last week and now he moves inside a few slots while going back to Bartlett; lots to like here. (1) TIGER BARON was used too hard in the early stages last out and paid the price when pressure came calling, failing badly at odds-on; he gets another crack from a good inside post and should remain a big player. (5) SOLO STORY gets some class relief and raced well a few starts back with Holland in the bike; he can land a nice share at a good price with a smooth trip. (2) FINE DIAMOND was facing better when last seen here and that was a good closing effort last out at Philly.
Race 6 – Open Pace
(2) THEARTOFCONFUSION A paced evenly for a small piece in last week’s Dan Rooney invitational and he’s right back in this week and from the best spot he’s seen in some time at this level; expect an aggressive try. (4) THE REAL ONE hasn’t won in some time but the Lachance-trained veteran has maintained his form for an extended period of time and is always capable with a smooth trip. (3) SAN DOMINO A battled hard last week and gave way late, a bit disappointing considering his solid win the week prior. Harris trainee seems capable of bouncing back. (8) MICKY GEE N flew home last week and just missed to the superstar McWicked; he’s stuck outside and as always will need some help getting towed into the race.
Race 7 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(4) ALBERGO HANOVER couldn’t hack a two-move uncovered effort last out and flattened out late; Team Bongiorno charge gets another crack with similar and can bounce back with a smoother trip. (1) SAULSBROOK DEPUTY didn’t fire versus better off the Banca claim but he drops a level and lands the best post again. (2) BLUEBIRD RECON has hit the board in his two starts off the Abbatiello claim and he should be close up throughout again. (8) MILITARY MASTER A was a well-meant cover-riding winner last out for Stratton/Hudson and he gets a free ride at this level but may be severely compromised by post eight.
Race 8 – Winners over $30,000 in last 5 starts
(5) PROVEN DESIRE had no realistic chance last week in the Open when he sat third and was shuffled out as the leader quit; he drops back down a notch and seems more than capable with smooth sailing. (1) DON DOMINGO N saw his win streak snapped last week but did rally for third from too far back; moving all the way back inside makes this import a major player. (3) SHNITZLEDOSOMETHIN returns from Hoosier where he was in state-bred stakes and the 4-year-old was racing very competitively when last seen here. (8) SCOTT ROCKS is overall having a very solid season and fits perfectly with this type but will he have too much to overcome departing from post eight.]
Race 9 – NW20000 in last 5 starts
(5) GRATIAN HANOVER didn’t really fire last out facing better but the post relief tonight can help his cause. (3) BETTORS FIRE N returns locally for Ron Cushing off two front-end scores up in New England and he’s an obvious speed threat here. (1) TREMENDOUS PLAY gets class and post relief plus Bartlett stuck with the Banca trainee. (4) I’M SOME GRADUATE was close up in his last two recent starts before having no real chance last week; this is a better spot.
Race 10 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(1) CHRISTEN ME N went off 48/1 last Saturday afternoon but Stratton drove him like he was legit, working out a golden trip from the eight hole to be second best; veteran is a big player again moving all the way inside. (5) OUR MAX PHACTOR N was third best last week at The Big M to a couple of real good rivals and the Harris trainee should go well here as Bartlett’s choice. (7) MACH IT SO swept from third over last out and he can never be counted out as he closes in on $3 million lifetime.
Race 11 – NW30000 in last 5 starts
(4) SHNEONUCRZYDIAMND A hasn’t been firing his best recently but he’s a proven entity with this type and should offer some value in this competitive field. (2) TURBO HILL had license to tire two back in a sub-1:50 race and he did rally decently last week from a no-chance spot; Oakes trainee will be a player moving back inside. (1) GREAT VINTAGE has fine speed and the best post; will the 11-year-old be cutting the mile? Maybe. (3) RUNRUNJIMMYDUNN N successfully dropped and popped last week and he does seem sharp enough to handle the bump back up in class.
