MEET STATS: 212 - 559 / $1,107.60 (-$10.40)
BEST BETS: 26 - 49 / $82.10 (-$15.90)
SPOT PLAYS: 12 - 49 / $104.70 (+$6.70)
BEST BET -
YEAHNAH (9th)
SPOT PLAY - BAD LOAD (4th)
Race 1 - F&M NW2/25000LT Pace
(6) EVA SPORTS CZECH performed well in her local debut a week ago, getting to the front from post eight and finishing second to favored and in-form Silk Z Tam. She gets some post relief tonight, and I'll give her another shot. (5) MY SWEET MEMORY opened a gigantic lead at Pocono last time out, then just held sway in a slow last quarter. Brennan is in the bike tonight, so I imagine we'll see a similar strategy employed. (3) HOOPLA HANOVER draws inside my top two picks and raced fairly last week to come in third behind Silk Z Tam and my top selection.
Race 2 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot
(4) MR POWERS finished well from the eight-hole last Monday and now gets some post relief tonight, giving Marohn Jr. some more options and the ability to sit closer to the pace. (2) BLUE SWAN is usually a contender when he draws inside, which he does again tonight after cutting the fractions and finishing second a week ago. (3) CLARION HALL was racing well both here and at Pocono for Allard and was claimed by DiDomenico back on 9-9. Draws much better for this chance after having post seven when last seen.
Race 3 - NW2/25000LT Pace
(4) SWEET TROY broke his maiden on September 11 at Harrah's Philly and now debuts for Hudson tonight here at Yonkers. Stratton stayed loyal, taking this one over two others, and I'll go with him as well. (1) ROGUE CHEDDAR won two back at Pocono and followed it up with a good effort in Westchester last Monday. Loses Stratton, but Bartlett takes over, which never hurts. (8) CHIEFS BEACH is another one with a barn change tonight as he is now in DiDomenico's care. Gets the worst of the draw, but I could see Brennan taking a shot and leaving.
Race 4 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(7) BAD LOAD didn't show much in his debut for Bongiorno last Monday, but this is an absolutely wide-open race, and she might have learned something about him. With Joe Bongiorno going in the bike this time, we also might see more aggressive handling. (1) TWIN B WATCHING gets a better post to work with tonight, and also catches the softest bunch he's seen in some time. Bartlett has the assignment tonight as well. (2) FAST ON THE DRAW upset a week ago, forging by late from first-over. Full marks for that effort, and we see sometimes when a horse wins one, they'll come right back and win again.
Race 5 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(4) SOMETHING REEL seems to be rounding back into form. Had the misfortune of trying to chase a well-rated and well-meant Ponder The Odds from first-up a week ago, but finished a good second. Let's hope she can get the job done tonight. (7) MILLWOOD BONNIE N came storming home last Monday and won at the NW4 level after being defeated in her U.S. debut against NW2's. Probably in line for a similar journey where she'll be on cover. (5) SHECANDANCE N hasn't done anything wrong since coming over from New Zealand and rallied stoutly again last week.
Race 6 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(3) SWEET MOVES caught the eye with a nice closing kick last Monday in her Yonkers return. She was really good in those NW2 races in Westchester before she went on the shelf for a bit, and might be coming back to that sort of performance. (6) ART LECTURE already owns a local win over NW4's, that coming two back, and Stratton takes over the lines tonight. (2) WESTBEACH shifts inside this week. She's been coming with a late brush in her last few, and I see that happening again tonight.
Race 7 - NW4/50000LT Pace - **$10K GTD Pick 5**
(2) LENWOODS REAL DEAL ran into the ultra-impressive Hysteria twice and then had the eight-hole since coming in from Indiana. Draws much better tonight and doesn't run into any on the level of Hysteria, so I'll take a shot with him. (1) BOYS TURN has the pole position this week after being unable to close last Monday. With the driver change to Dube, I'm expecting a speed try. (5) BETTER THAN SOME beat NW4's two back, then had post eight on 9-9. Gets some post relief tonight, and he's a threat.
Race 8 - NW15000L5/Winners of NW10000L5 in Last Start Pace
(2) JENERAL PATTON disappointed last Saturday night, but he drops into this in-between level tonight and draws well. Might offer a bit more value off that fading line last time, and when he was good recently, he was second against NW20000L5's and third against NW30000L5's. (4) BETTOR MEMORIES has been knocking on the door with closing efforts and makes the same class move as my top pick, sliding in from NW20000L5's. (3) ART SCENE was able to work out a pocket trip and easily won over NW10000L5's in his most recent effort. He should leave again, and might get the same trip if someone comes and loops him.
Race 9 - NW6/75000LT Pace
(1) YEAHNAH lands in a spot here where he finally doesn't have to race against Hysteria or Rock The Devil, who are both win machines, and he gets the pole position back after having an outside post a week ago. (3) NUMBERED ACCOUNT gained nicely last Monday. Has post three instead of the six tonight, and while he does lose Brennan, Bongiorno has won races for DiDomenico lately too. (5) DA DELIGHTFUL qualified nicely down at Freehold for his comeback. Racked up wins through the spring, including over NW6's on 6-10.
Race 10 - F&M NW8/100000LT / F&M NW6/75000LT Drawn Inside Pace
(2) TELLAWOMAN takes a step up on the class ladder tonight, but she raced well from off-the-pace two back in her local debut, then won in convincing fashion on the engine last Monday. Has a nice inside post, too. (4) GIRL'S GOT RHYTHM posted her fourth straight win last Monday, so you can't knock her form, but I'll play against and hope she isn't able to make it five in-a-row. (5) MANHATTAN PLAY shifts over to this class from the NW10000L5's where she was a gaining second last time out to a nice mare named January A.
Race 11 - F&M NW6/75000LT Pace
(4) TWIN B SONYA has had some nightmarish posts lately (two sevens and an eight), so the draw was kinder to her tonight, and she's been racing well from the outside slots with two straight thirds. (5) CORAL BELLA finished evenly in the pocket behind the streaking Girl's Got Rhythm last Monday. Could use some more punch finishing, but she has upset NW6's at Yonkers before. (1) DIXIE STAR N was scratched sick last Monday, but is right back in the box, so it can't have been anything too serious. Has post one to work with tonight, and she's been racing well, although she does step up in class.
