Race 1 - NW10000L5 Pace
(3) LETTUCEROCKTHEM A receives some class and post relief tonight. Usually is pretty competitive at this class, including a good second two back. (1) HUDSONANDBERNARD also slides inside on the gate tonight after showing some late interest on July 27. (6) SOLID ASA ROCK A has been out of town for a bit but returns tonight. Finished second in his last Westchester appearance, which was at this level.
Race 2 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot
(4) BLUE SWAN has performed well in his last two races at this level, and I think that gives him the edge over these. (7) TECH TITAN draws poorly tonight, but he won on 7-8 against the NW5000L5's and then just missed in a close photo last Monday. (1) UNDICI lost all chance a week ago with an early break. Could definitely threaten if he stays on stride this time.
Race 3 - NW2/26000LT Pace
(4) JOJO'S PLACE turned in a nice second last Monday behind a well-meant Captain McKee. Gets another chance to race against the NW2's tonight and retained Bartlett. (3) ACTOR HANOVER was post compromised a week ago with the eight-hole but draws much better tonight and should be able to put forth a better effort. (1) SO IT GOES closed with authority for fourth from post eight on July 29 and switches to the pole position for this try.
Race 4 - NW2/25000LT Pace
(1) GLENGARRY KNIGHT N scored a sold third-place finish in his U.S. debut a week ago. Gets another inside post to work with tonight, and I'll bank on him showing improvement. (3) FOREVER FAV rallied for a runner-up finish behind the in-form Gamblingterror back on July 22 and has post relief tonight, going from the seven-hole to post three. (6) ROLAND ONTHERIVER also exits that Gamblingterror/Forever Fav race from 7-22. Could use a smoother trip this time.
Race 5 - F&M NW2/25000LT Pace
(3) SOUTHWIND RAPUNZEL dominated in her Yonkers debut last Monday and gets to race in this class again. Keeps Bartlett over another contender too. (2) CAMPUS QUEEN invades from Running Aces tonight and enters the Andrew Harris barn. Bartlett did pick off for my top choice, but I can't knock her form. (6) XENIA ONATOPP tries Yonkers tonight after racing well up in Saratoga. Another one in this race that's razor-sharp.
Race 6 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(6) I CHOOSE YOU took back to last a week ago and got rolling too late to get into contention. I'll give her another shot tonight in hopes that Marohn Jr. will have her closer to the pace. (5) LOVERS COVE got a brilliant drive from Bartlett last Monday from post eight and pulled the upset. Draws better for this chance off that victory and is certainly capable of repeating. (8) TAKE ABIT OF LIFE was in the same boat as my top pick last week as she sat back and closed. Probably in the same boat tonight, but hopefully her kick is good enough to get up for a piece of the ticket.
Race 7 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace **$10,000 GTD PICK-5 POOL**
(1) TEE'S SWEET RYDE is another one I'll give a second opportunity tonight. Draws the rail after two post eights and threatened last week before tiring in the lane. (6) MAJOR MAID took all of the wagering attention a week ago but could only manage a third. Might see Sears be more aggressive with her tonight now that he's driven her once. (7) UNSPOKEN PROMISE has her first outside slot in a while, but her form is quite good, including a solid second last Monday.
Race 8 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(4) GAMBLINGTERROR handled the class hike last Monday just fine, scoring a good second. I'll go with him tonight. (2) ONE CORONA TO GO put in a big first-over effort back on July 22, but couldn't hold off the horse he towed into contention from second-over. Drew well again and deserves respect. (1) ROCKME ROLLME was the runner-up to the red-hot Rock The Devil on 7-22 and has the pole position for this opportunity.
Race 9 - F&M NW6/75000LT / NW7 Drawn Outside Pace
(2) SHES PUKKA N actually draws an inside post tonight, a rare occasion indeed. Suffered a tough beat in her last try on July 15, but she's in raging form and has been for quite a while. (4) SULKY QUEEN has been on a tear for Bongiorno, winning a NY Sire Stakes leg at Monticello and then finishing third at Saratoga. Probably fits against these. (3) DEMI HILL is on a run of good race-bad race here at Yonkers, so if the pattern holds, she should be ready for a top effort tonight.
Race 10 - NW6/75000LT Pace
(4) ROCK THE DEVIL goes up the class ladder tonight, but I don't think this is the strongest group of NW6's, and all his races here have been great thus far. (6) WATERWAY rallied for a good second last Monday. Might in line to follow Rock The Devil into contention. (2) REVELRY went on a speed mission a week ago but folded in the last quarter. Interested to see how Zeron races him tonight.
Race 11 - NW8/100000LT Pace
(1) DISMISSAL SLIP gets away from some of the tougher foes he's run into at this level, draws the pole, and gets reunited with Brennan. That's enough for me to look his way. (4) REBEL ROUSER qualified well enough behind Lather Up at the Meadowlands. Was in great form before heading to the sidelines. (3) WESTERN BEACHBOY also returns tonight after some time on the shelf. Won the Sagamore final here earlier this season.
Race 12 - NW6/75000LT Pace
(3) DANCIN LOU defeated the NW8's on July 22, so he actually gets to drop tonight, fitting this class under the lifetime earnings cap. He's obviously in great form, and he's been beating horses who have gone on to win once they've gotten away from him. (7) U S CAPTAIN made the Meadowlands Pace final last month, so he has some class to him. Been racing well in overnight competition, but has a tough post here. (2) AMERICAN ADMIRAL turned in an imporved effort last Monday and draws inside tonight. Let's see if he takes another step forward.
