Race 1 - F&M NW2/25000LT Pace
(1) COROMANDEL makes her second start for DiDomenico tonight and draws an inside post for a change. I'm expecting a much more aggressive drive from Brennan, and she has shown the ability to win at this level in the past. (5) LADYBELUCKYTONITE saw her run of inside draws end finally, but she's in good form with three straight seconds. (3) ROLLING SPREE invades from Plainridge off a nice win over their maiden class and has Bartlett to handle the driving.
Race 2 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot
(4) MANOFMANYIMAGES fell just short in a nice post eight effort a week ago, and now gets to race against this class again from a much better post. (8) BLUE SWAN is stuck outside tonight but did finish second two back from post seven after securing a tuck. Holland returns to the bike tonight after the horse won in an amateur race last out. (6) MIGHTY NICKY drops after a breaking performance, but he's always capable of threatening against this bottom level.
Race 3 - NW2/25000LT Pace
(4) HYSTERIA is a new addition to the Bongiorno outfit from Canada. Riding a three-race win streak and went a quick mile at Charlottetown Driving Park last out. (6) BRONSONS DELIGHT is another newcomer who has been competing at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Shippers from that oval have been doing well at Yonkers through the summer months, including this one's stablemate Gamblingterror. (1) SHADOWOFTHENORTH had an improved effort last week from post seven and shifts inside this week. Bartlett's choice of three.
Race 4 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(7) REIGNING DEO has been knocking heads in some big races, including making the finals of the Meadowlands Pace and Adios. I'll hope the return to overnight racing can get him going, and maybe at a little bit of a price given he hasn't won yet in 2019 and has an outside post. (2) ROCK THE DEVIL was scheduled for a try against NW6 types on 8-5 but was scratched sick. Just slides into this NW4 condition under the lifetime earnings cap, and obviously he's razor-sharp. (6) CAPTAIN MCKEE handled the hike up to NW4 with no problem last Monday, winning again on the engine. Not sure he gets the lead tonight, but he has shown the ability to close as well.
Race 5 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(8) FROMTHESTARTAGAIN kept the popular Bartlett in this race as he picked this one over four others. Has found the NYSS level a bit too tough through the season, but closed strongly when last seen in an overnight race at the Meadowlands back on July 5. (5) STAND BY ME N has been racing well in Pennsylvania and ships over to Yonkers tonight. Brennan was also listed on multiple horses and went to this guy for DiDomenico. (4) ON ACCIDENT had some interest in the lane last Monday, coming off the brief layoff and qualifier. Should be tighter tonight and retains post four.
Race 6 - F&M NW6/83000LT Pace
(4) CORAL BELLA remained in good form a week ago, rallying from post eight, and gets post relief tonight. I'll look her way in a race you can make a case for several in. (3) AFRAID NOT HANOVER gives Yonkers a try for the first time tonight. Picked up a check in the PA Sire Stakes last time against the likes of Tall Drink Hanover, so she was in against some tough competition. (5) LIBERTY ROSE N scored a nice first-over win last Monday and gets to stick at this level as she slides under the lifetime earnings condition by a few hundred dollars.
Race 7 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot - **$10K GTD Pick 5**
(5) TORKIL gets to drop all the way to the bottom level tonight, and he picked up a win when last seen in this class back in April. Retained Brent Holland as well. (7) TECH TITAN entered for the claiming tag again, so he's back where he does his best work. Bartlett takes back over the assignment after the horse was in an amateur driving event on 8-5. (8) SUGAR TOP changes classes from NW8 to this one, and maybe that'll get him going in the right direction.
Race 8 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(2) DOROTHY'S LEGACY came up a head shy of a long-odds win when last seen here at Yonkers on 7-22. Draws well again tonight and Marohn Jr. is reunited with her. Let's go her way and hope for some value in a race where nobody is in great form. (6) PRIVACY HANOVER scored easily after a pocket trip last Monday. Takes the class hike tonight, but she catches a soft group for this company and kept Bartlett's services. (1) MARYMACISBACK was no match for the top two last week, but she shifts to the inside post, and appears to land against some lesser foes.
Race 9 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace
(4) MONEY SHOT HANOVER rallied some in the last quarter a week ago and now gets Sears back to drive again tonight from a better post. Last year's New York Sire Stakes champion in the 2-year-old filly pace group is way overdue for a winning effort, and I think it comes tonight. (3) LOVERS COVE made a break two weeks ago as the heavy favorite. Might offer a better price tonight if you stay with her. (1) DIXIE STAR N performed well over at Pocono in recent weeks and tries Yonkers tonight. Qualified and made her U.S. debut here earlier this year, so it's not unfamiliar to her.
Race 10 - F&M NW6/75000LT Pace
(6) SHES SPORTY A made her U.S. debut up at Saratoga against male horses for Banca and was an even sixth. I'm going to hope she needed the race given the time off and need to get familiar with the racing here, and she'll be ready to go in her second start with Bartlett driving and facing fillies and mares instead of the boys. (5) ROCKNROLL ANNIE hasn't been able to finish in the top three in two efforts against NW6 types, but her closing kick is always dangerous if she gets some pace to chase. (3) SEZANA N came up short last week after being well-rated on the lead. Stratton reassumes the drive, but she'll need more pop in the lane tonight.
Race 11 - NW6/75000LT Pace
(5) U S CAPTAIN was used hard early back on August 5 and folded late. Gets away from the likes of Dancin Lou tonight and hopefully Sears can find him an easier trip. (2) LIVE LIKE A BOSS ran into a well-meant Crusades two weeks back and had to settle for second. Switches pilots back to Brennan tonight and might try to cut it or sit in the pocket behind my top pick. (3) AMERICAN ADMIRAL came up with a good second to the streaking Dancin Lou in his last effort. A similiar type of performance tonight would definitely put him in contention.
Race 12 - NW20000L5 Pace
(2) ABERDEEN HANOVER slides back to an inside draw tonight, and that should have him more forwardly-placed like in his win two back. Did close nicely from off-the-pace on August 10. (7) BLOOD BROTHER has been knocking on the door at this level for quite a while and probably has enough speed to get slotted in near the front. (1) MISTER DAYTONA N has some post relief tonight after getting parked out on August 10.
