Yonkers: Monday 8/14 Analysis

Matt Rose|Aug 11, 2017
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: SHARK CONTROL (1st)

Spot Play: PRINCE OF MINTO (6th)

MEET STATS: 301 - 853 / $1,672.70

BEST BETS: 41 - 73 / $137.60

Race 1

(3) SHARK CONTROL was very good last out and likely wins if not for a bit of bad luck; scores here at odds-on. (6) SCHOLZ has really picked up his game out of town looking like a new horse. (2) CHEYENNE REIJANE has good early speed and will be sitting close up.

Race 2

(4) TOOSMARTTOCHEAT returns locally for an outfit that always has them ready for action and she qualified well with the hobbles added. (5) MAC AND PAY has looked good since moving to the Erv Miller barn. (1) SOUTHWIND HYDRO is obviously more than fast enough but he'll need to mind his manners here.

Race 3

(1) ALL ABOUT THE PACE has been racing well in the Excelsiors including a big upset win last week; filly draws best and hails from live connections. (6) ABSOLUTELY BEST proved an easy winner last out but may have to work a bit harder tonight from this post. (2) FEEL THE DARKSIDE finished close up in her two recent local starts.

Race 4

(3) GO FIND OUT raced well two back from a tough spot, then took money and never got involved last out; Sears is back driving and they teamed up for a win four back. (4) ITTY BITTY has hit the ticket in her two starts after shipping east to join the Harris barn. (8) E L PEACEMAKER is a solid player at this level but has to overcome the worst post.

Race 5

(7) NORMANDY BEACH has been slow to get underway this year after a good freshman campaign but his last couple have been a bit better. (1) HALLIE'S COMET jogged two back versus one notch lesser for Lachance. (5) BEACH BOOGIE ships in sharp for Allard and picks up Sears; obvious contender.

Race 6

(4) PRINCE OF MINTO has been pretty sharp out of town for an outfit that has had good local success with year with limited starters. (3) TECH TITAN gets a very interesting driver change here to Bartlett. (1) MERRY HANOVER returns off a sick scratch for Jeff Gregory but the filly does draw best; use caution.

Race 7

(1) GIGA SPIN gets a nice driver switch to Bartlett and lands the rail in her local return; likely the one to catch. (4) JK JAZZITUP moves to the DiDomenico barn; interesting. (8) PINE BUSH JOE has hinted at some ability in her brief career but this looks like a tough spot; consider using underneath.

Race 8

(7) I WISH YOU WELL was loaded with late pace last out but was too far back to threaten; I wish that Lachance can try to get involved earlier here. (3) ANGELINMYWAY has been a cash machine for her connections and should land another big piece from this spot. (1) WINNERS OVER draws best and should be in line for a live trip.

Race 9

(4) PIRINEA'S PRINCESS raced pretty well at this level last week to be second best and the Laterza trainee can take the next logical step versus a questionable field. (2) TWENTY THREE RED has been sharp recently for a cold barn and the mare should be right there late. (6) REI'S STAR CROSS has tried speed tactics in her last two and hasn't been awful.

Race 10

(6) ARCHANGEL THREE has been a big speed player since shipping from Canada and joining the Burke barn; threat to go all the way here. (1) NOX VEGAS BLUECHIP draws best and should be in line for a good stalking trip. (3) J K COWBOY has looked good in his last two starts versus lesser.

Race 11

(1) MANIANA held well for second last week after being overtaken by a sharp rival and that's three good runner-up efforts in a row; time to score. (5) TWINKLE is near-perfect in her brief career and the late-bloomer is a solid player here. (3) WISHY WASHY GIEL will be close up for solid connections but needs to show more late.

Race 12

(7) PACING MAJOR N may have to make two moves to get the job done from the outside post but the Tritton import is likely the most talented here. (5) NEVER SAY NEVER N moves to the Banca barn now and returns to Bartlett. (2) CULTURAL PARADISE was second best in his last two to tough NYSS foes.
