Yonkers: Monday 7/9 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jul 06, 2018
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: ALBERGO HANOVER (4th)

Spot Play: MCTHIRSTY (7th)

MEET STATS: 258 - 759 / $1,462.10

BEST BETS: 36 - 64 / $119.70

Race 1

(4) TWIN B HALO was a good second in her last two tries at this level and the Andrew Harris trainee will likely be a better price than the logical (3) DONT MACH MIA. The latter was both lucky and good last out as a couple of rivals broke early; clearly capable of repeating. (1) PINEBUSHLOLA is still looking for that maiden win but she did make a nice move here two back.

Race 2

(2) MISTER SPECIAL T raced very well up at Tioga for his new barn after being off six months; he may have more to offer and I'll take a look at him at 12/1 morning line. (1) YEAHNAH was a winner in his career debut finishing well after saving ground; clearly he's capable of repeating. (7) NIHILATED TRUTH looked too good to be true last week upon arrival and scored at 1/9; from this spot he'll have to work harder and I'll look to beat him.

Race 3

(3) PRINCESS HOLLY N arrives locally off some willing efforts out of town and he picks up Brent Holland; mare clearly looks like the one to beat. (2) PARTYON PARTYGIRL broke off the first turn last out ending her night but she raced well the start prior. (4) LULU DE VIE ships in after beating NW1 at Philly and the filly picks up Brennan.

Race 4

(7) ALBERGO HANOVER was super in his local debut for Team Bongiorno but unfortunately he ran into an equally sharp rival; a similar effort tonight will demolish these. (1) LUCKY LEONARD gets that important driver change to Stratton. (4) RECORD MACHINE has hit the ticket in his last four out of town for Garcia-Herrera.

Race 5

(8) MAJOR AUTHORITY raced well enough to win last out but just got beaten by the trip-sitter; Harris trainee has the speed to overcome the poor post. (1) IMSTAYINALIVE draws best and hopefully Lachance will take full advantage of the starting spot. (5) BET ON SUCCESS makes his second local start for Lance Hudson and likely needed last week's race; seems capable of showing more.

Race 6

(8) CARLY GIRL faces a tough task from the far outside post but she just seems a bit better than these right now. (1) BETTER THAN HAPPY had been racing decently in the NYSS before tiring last week at Goshen; prior local efforts were okay. (7) SANDY'S BEACH broke while stalking in the pocket in her last local race; use caution.

Race 7

(2) MCTHIRSTY was never a threat for the winner last week but stayed on well late to be second best; he gets post relief tonight and may be controlling the action. (4) THOR DE VIE put in a good bounce-back effort last week at Goshen in an Excelsior race; Bartlett's choice. (6) VALRHONA has been very good in his last two and will probably offer a big price again.

Race 8

(3) TJ BLAST invades from Northfield for Burke, where he was an Open Handicap winner there in 1:50 2/5; he's just too sharp to look past. (5) SAULSBROOK LANNY did the best he could from the eight hole last out; the move inside a few spots will help his cause. (2) FULLBACK looks for three straight but he faces some good ones here and Bartlett opted off.

Race 9

(1) GILLYS BOY is a perfect three-for-three since moving to the Burke barn and he looks like another logical short-priced winner. (6) HARRY TERROR has been racing well with more seasoned foes and he may offer some value from this spot. (4) OCEAN COLONY is better than he's been showing; will the Banca trainee ever awaken?

Race 10

(4) DOCTOR BUTCH was nailed on the wire last week and now drops back to a winning level; veteran gets the call despite some tough competition. (3) TEXAS TERROR was clearly second best last week in a 1:51 4/5 mile; 10-year-old still seems to have what it takes. (2) ART HISTORY got going too late last week, his debut for Garcia-Herrera off the claim; consider.

Race 11

(8) KAITLYN N has been an absolute terror out of town for these connections and she may actually offer some value starting from the far outside. (5) COVEREDNDIAMONDS N has done nothing wrong since arriving in the U.S. and is the deserving favorite. (3) QUEEN JOSEPHINE is probably best of the rest and does have some speed at her disposal; use.

Race 12

(1) RONNY BUGATTI is clearly feeling good again and is the one to defeat in the finale; short price, however. (4) SUMMER SIDE has talent but can't seem to figure out where he fits; can catch-driver Lachance leave the gate with him to set up a trip? (2) ALBERTO CONTADOR N usually gives a good accounting of himself from inside posts.
