Race 1 - F&M NW2/25000LT Pace
(6) SOMETHING REEL gets another crack at the NW2 level with her low lifetime earnings. Dominated in her last two appearances, and I don't see any reason to pass on her tonight. (2) ADORABELLA had a bad time of it last Monday, but I think she's a better horse than that, and hopefully she'll pick it back up tonight from an inside post. (4) LOVERS COVE has been hitting the board with regularity since coming to Yonkers and should have every opportunity to be part of the ticket again this week.
Race 2 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot
(5) ROSSINI closed willingly from way out of it back on July 8. Draws a mid-pack post for his rallying racing style and hopefully he can knock off this wide-open bunch. (3) MUZZYS MUSCLES put forth his best race since joining the Banca barn last Monday with a gaining second. Does get a new driver this week with Bongiorno taking over for Zeron. (1) SOUTHWIND DORIAN ships up from Harrah's Philly and gets the rail. Wasn't bad on the half-mile track at Harrington a few weeks ago and certainly catches the right group here.
Race 3 - NW2/25000LT Pace
(2) VIRGIN STORM took a big shot from post seven a week ago and just missed. Receives post relief tonight and does own a prior win at this level back on June 10. (7) COOL YOUR HEELS has been racing well without finding the winner's circle. Gets the outside slot tonight but did show enough speed from post six last Monday to land a pocket trip. (5) GLACIS broke briefly but still rallied late in the mile last week. I think this is a softer bunch than that one.
Race 4 - NW2/25000LT Pace
(2) THE MIGHTY MARNER treks down to Yonkers and into the live Andrew Harris barn from Rideau Carleton Raceway up in Ontario. Have to like his consistency in his first year of racing, and he comes off two straight wins, including a sharp final quarter in his last. (3) GAMBLINGTERROR took a lot of late action last Monday and delivered with a sterling rally. Gets a much better post tonight, sliding inside to the three-hole. (7) FOREVER FAV rallied strongly to finish in the runner-up spot a week ago. Draws outside again, but Zeron is pretty adept at working out trips.
Race 5 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(5) ROCK THE DEVIL started a little slowly from the inside post on July 8, then just missed to the classy Dancin Lou after rallying. Switches drivers back to Marohn Jr. tonight, and I'm hoping he points him right to the top. (2) PRICE HANOVER made the Rooney final here at Yonkers earlier this year. Races on Lasix for the second time tonight and was Bartlett's choice. (3) ROCKME ROLLME was a closing third in the Dancin Lou-Rock The Devil race back on 7/8. Sears hops back in the bike tonight.
Race 6 - F&M NW6/75000LT / F&M NW8/100000LT Drawn Outside Pace
(3) LIBERTY ROSE N has performed well in both her North American starts here at Yonkers and hopefully with the switch back to an inside post tonight she will continue to improve and get a victory. (4) SO AWESOME is one of the top fillies in the New York Sire Stakes program. Strong closing second when last seen in Westchester on 6-28 and should certainly fit against these. (2) MICHELON'S FILLY showed some talent last year but hasn't been able to win as a sophomore yet. Gets a new set of hands in the bike with Brent Holland taking over.
Race 7 - F&M NW4/50000LT Pace - $10K GTD Pick 5
(4) TWIN B SONYA got in a race over the oval last week from post seven and closed evenly. She is back on a regular rotation this week, gets an improved post, and Bartlett hops aboard. Showed strong early speed in those races at Grand River. (8) TEE'S SWEET RYDE jogged from post nine at The Meadows in her debut for Burke and now heads east with another bad post. Appears to have enough foot away from the gate to get a seat, though. (3) HURRIKANE NORAKANE usually races in the New York Sire Stakes but switches to overnight company here. Raced well at Yonkers on 5-14, something like that would make her a big threat.
Race 8 - NW6/75000LT Pace
(2) MISTER SPOT A made one unsuccessful start up at Woodbine Mohawk Park where he got parked out and now ships down to Yonkers and into the Allard stable. The qualifier showed some talent, shippers from Mohawk have been making some noise in recent races in Westchester, and he lured Dube off the talented DA Delightful. I'll give him a shot. (4) KEYSTONE PHOENIX has a trainer change tonight, going to DiDomenico. Wasn't Brennan's choice, but Bongiorno is a capable replacement. (3) CRUSADES had an adventure on the far turn last Monday but gets right back in the box and kept Brennan. Might see some equipment changes tonight.
Race 9 - F&M NW6/75000LT Pace
(5) BLUE IVY crushed in two starts against overnight competition at Pocono after exiting the Lynch final and looks like the big threat here. (1) TOPVILLE ANGELINA returns to the rail after two recent defeats from outside posts at Yonkers. Does step up in class here but absolutely jogged up at Monticello. (2) SCWARTZ BROS BEATY now races for Travis Alexander after Tyler George headed back to his Midwest base. Has loomed and threatened at Yonkers without a breakthrough yet. Maybe Alexander can get her going a little better since he races here regularly.
Race 10 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(2) ONE CORONA TO GO sat back through slow fractions last Monday but did close well. Has a better draw tonight, moving inside to post two, and with Brennan taking over, we may see some additional speed off the gate. (5) FOLLOWYOURDESTINY was in the same race as my top pick a week ago and also raced from off-the-pace. Moves to the mid-pack post tonight and was Bartlett's choice over a couple others. (1) MELANIE'S TEDY returns east after racing in Indiana for awhile. Raced well at Hoosier on 6-21 but hasn't won yet this year, and I'll go against.
Race 11 - NW5000L5/12500CLM Trot
(7) MIGHTY NICKY trailed from post eight last Monday but did get going in the final quarter to gain spots and ground. Has another outside slot this week but maybe Bongiorno can get him off on the right foot this time and have him in striking range. (5) WHITE PANTS FEVER folded late on the lead a week ago but her speed always makes her dangerous at this bottom level. Stratton goes in the bike this time. (3) VALLEY GLIDER had little chance on 7-1 when coming off the layoff and being hampered with post eight but had some late interest. Draws well tonight and picks up Scott Zeron.
Race 12 - NW8/100000LT / NW6 Drawn Inside Pace
(4) IDEAL FLIP dominated on the front-end a week ago. Brent Holland takes over the driving duties tonight, and I'd be looking for similar tactics, even with the slight hike up in class. (2) DANCIN LOU also steps up for this try but has been strong in last two wins against NW4's. Stratton chose him over two others. (1) NIHILATED TRUTH has major post relief tonight, moving from the outside to the pole position. Cross off that line last week and his last two against these certainly could see him hit the board at a bit of a price.
