BEST BETS: 11 - 14 / $32.90 (+$4.90)
Race 1
(7) SHES PUKKA N faces a bigger test tonight but she looked like she could have gone around again six more times in last week's win; top call. (5) BYE HANOVER ships from The Meadowlands for DiDomenico, picks up Brennan and could fit well here; only concern is the break she made here in January. (3) IVESEENTHEFUTURE gets post relief and could be aggressive off the gate from this spot.
Race 2
(2) SOMEWAY SAME HALL hasn't raced badly in his two local starts since shipping from Florida and he gets needed class relief tonight. (7) CRESURREY raced very well last week, flashing good speed and then finished well after being shuffled; trotter should be a good price. (1) SCREAMING CONWAY broke last out at The Big M but his prior starts were good.
Race 3
(4) CATCH AN ACE was up against a stubborn frontrunner last week, got repelled but held gamely for second; Andrew Harris trainee will face a test from (2) PELICAN BLUE CHIP but seems worthy of top billing. The latter hasn't done anything wrong in her last four starts for Allard and the mare looks for two straight. (3) SHELLIE DE VIE returns from Delaware and did win here last season.
Race 4
(6) ROBYN CAMDEN was at a tactical disadvantage to the winner last out and had to settle for second best; she lands outside here but if Dunn can somehow improve position early the sharp mare can get it done. (5) ODDS ON ASHLEY has been razor-sharp for Alagna but note the top choice beat her two back. (3) PARKIN IN HEAVEN come in from The Meadowlands for Buter and looks best of the rest but will have to step up her game to defeat the top two.
Race 5
(4) CRUNCH invades from Dover for the Toscano barn and picks up Stratton and seemingly he'll be a live piece here in this tough-to-figure event. (5) GOTHIC ROCK picked up a few front-end wins in Florida and should be forwardly placed here but the time off may be a concern. (1) SIZZLING SUMMER ships from Canada, joins the Andrew Harris barn, picks up Bartlett and draws best. Obvious contender.
Race 6
(1) CABOWABOCUTTIE raced well last week to be second best and overall she's been good in practically all of her local starts; Stratton has tactical options from this spot. (3) GHOSTTOTHEPOST returns locally and she's been going well out of town for her new barn. (5) ELLA IS AWESOME was game for second last out after being passed and she may be best of the rest here.
Race 7
(8) B FIFTEEN was too far back to threaten last week but she rallied well and the Banca trainee hasn't put in a bad effort in ages; price should be decent from this starting spot. (3) SWEET ANA HANOVER has a win and two seconds since shipping in to join the Auciello barn. (5) LEAN ON WHO has been underachieving since moving to the Burke barn but I guess she's eligible for improvement.
Race 8
(3) WORKIN THEM ANGELS never got close at The Meadowlands from the outside post in his first start for new trainer Andrew Harris but he finds seemingly a softer spot here upon arrival and promises to be more involved. (2) THUDER SOME WHERE didn't fire last week but was good two back when Gingras drove. (6) ANTHEM N is another Tritton Down-Under import making his first start off an even qualifier; as always watch the board.
Race 9
(3) WHOS BETTER just missed from the pocket last week and a similar trip can get it done tonight. (1) JK WILDFIRE raced very willingly on the big track in his seasonal debut and looms large as the main threat to the top choice. (2) TITANIUM N took control last week and wilted under pressure; he can save ground tonight and land a share.
Race 10
(3) CAPTAIN DEO was a no-match third last week to two tough rivals and against this field the Lance Hudson trainee can take control. (2) ALI was solid from the pocket two back then has no chance last out; he's back inside tonight for trainer/driver Pat Lachance. (4) ROCK LIGHTS did the best he could off a two-move uncovered trip last out; smoother journey here will land him a share.
Race 11
(2) MIDWAY ISLAND faltered last out with little excuse but did dig in stubbornly for second once passed; give the Burke trainee another chance. (1) LONE RAIDER goes for another new barn off the claim, draws best and picks up Bartlett; should be a player. (5) E Z NOAH hasn't been bad recently and could save ground to land a share at a price.
Race 12
(5) MACH DORO A was a nice earner Down-Under and now makes his U.S. debut for Ron Cushing off a good qualifier; ignore that 15/1 computerized morning line, assume he'll be bet live and ready to go. (6) RUN ONEOVER N gets some class relief but he needs to show more late. (1) DOCTOR BUTCH has been very disappointing of late and is tough to endorse for the top spot but is hard to completely toss.
