Race 1 - 10000CLM Pace
(1) BEYONDTHESILENCE N pounced for a clear win against $10,000 claimers on the 31st of January. He races at the level again and shifts inside to the pole position, so his early foot should be even more imposing. (6) BROOKIES PRINCE N took all 12 of his wins in 2019 at Yonkers, including a streak of 11 in-a-row at one point. He comes back north from Dover to Westchester tonight and enters the red-hot Andrew Harris barn. (3) ROCKIN CELEBRATION turned in an improved performance on 1-31, rallying to finish second to Beyondthesilence N, and I think is usable underneath.
Race 2 - NW2/25000LT Pace
(7) MACHING TIME raced from off-the-pace last week in the first pari-mutuel start for DiDomenico following the sick scratch and the one qualifier. He does have an outside draw again, but I will anticipate Brennan being much more aggressive tonight and slot him on top. (5) CAPTAIN CUT THROAT cruised around the oval last Monday and won comfortably. He stays at the NW2 level, so he's definitely a threat to double up, but I'll hope he's not quite as good this time. (4) ISSA HORSE keeps racking up the on-the-board finishes without being able to find the winner's circle. He does draw much better for this start.
Race 3 - 12500-15000CLM HCP Pace
(8) WIND BLAST has the worst of the draw this week, but he was a very impressive winner last Monday. I'll hope Marohn Jr. can get him a spot by floating away and then work out the winning trip. (1) REDONKULOUS came up just short off a two-hole journey on January 31. He remains in solid form, keeps the rail draw, and retains Brennan's services. (5) CANBEC KINGKAZIMIR was second-best to Wind Blast a week ago and out-draws him here. I anticipate Bongiorno going forward with him again.
Race 4 - NW5000L5 Pace
(2) PROJECT ROCK made a big third quarter move to the lead on January 27 but faded in the late going. I still like the effort and his improvement since coming to Chuck Connor Jr. He draws well again tonight, and I'll look for a bit of a price. (4) VORACITY didn't get involved in the first start for Godinez on 1-27, but he slides in to post four from post eight. I could definitely see a better performance coming this time. (1) CHUMLEE A didn't have much to offer off a pocket trip on the 30th of January, but he does have plenty of back-class to threaten at this low a level.
Race 5 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(3) J M MANDAMIN joined the Bongiorno stable in his last down at Freehold and absolutely cruised. Those last quarters up at Woodbine Mohawk Park also catch the eye, so I think there's some quality here. He gets a good test against a solid NW4 group tonight. (2) TELLITSABB rolled to another impressive win last Monday. He remains at the NW4 level again this week, so he should have every opportunity to make it three in-a-row. (1) BUDDY HILL makes the first start of his 4-year-old campaign tonight for Banca. He had a good enough campaign a year ago to make the NY Sire Stakes final, so he's another one with some class to him.
Race 6 - NW4/50000LT Pace
(1) MARK WITHA K threatened Tellitsabb from first-over last Monday and was second after getting turned away by that rival. I think this is the softer NW4 group compared to race five, so I think he's usable off that effort. (3) P L MUNSON didn't take advantage of the drop to NW3 a week ago but did turn in a good final quarter to get up for second. He appears to be a threat against these horses. (6) MEADOWBROOK FLASH was victorious in his last attempt down at Dover and now heads north into the Devita barn, which is off to a hot start in 2020.
Race 7 - NW5000L5 Pace
(3) MISTER DAYTONA N finished with a good final panel from off-the-pace at the Meadowlands on February 1. He may have needed that race given the gap in his schedule, and when he was last at Yonkers on 10-5, he was in against NW10000L5's. He gets Bartlett tonight, and I'll anticipate him being put in play. (1) PAPIAMENTO turned his form around in his last two down at Freehold and was third in their NW5000L5 class last time out. A similar effort makes him dangerous tonight. (4) REAL LUCKY N has been dropping in class in recent weeks and lands in against NW5000L5 company this time. He was Marohn Jr.'s choice of a pair in here.
Race 8 - NW10000L5/Winners of NW7500L5 in Last Start Pace
(4) COOL BLUES MAN gets some class relief here, moving down from the NW15000L5 group. He was victorious at this level back on the 3rd of December and catches a field with several moving up from NW7500L5. (1) MARINER SEELSTER has form that certainly can't be discounted, having defeated NW5000L5's and NW7500L5's in his last two. He takes another hike up here, and I will try and beat him. (3) MAURICE finished well to get third most recently. He also steps up in this spot, but has rallied to hit the ticket against NW10000L5's on 1-6 and 11-12.
Race 9 - NW6/75000LT Pace
(7) APEX SEELSTER owns a prior win over NW6's at Yonkers on January 13 and returns tonight after a couple weeks off. I think he has enough speed to overcome this post, and I expect him to be on or somewhere near the front. (5) TAP TAP TAP topped NW6's two back and was third to the high-quality Globaldomination N last Monday after beating him the week prior. He gets Brennan to drive tonight. (1) FOLLOWYOURDESTINY went to the sidelines after that start on 9-16 and makes his first appearance as a 4-year-old in this spot. He retained Bartlett over the Andrew Harris-trained Tap Tap Tap, so that could signify he's expecting a good performance from this guy. The horse has also found the winner's circle against NW6's before.
Race 10 - NW7500L5/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Pace
(5) CATCHA LEFTY A didn't make much of an impression against NW15000L5's or NW10000L5's but last time in this class he won in gate-to-wire fashion. I don't think he necessarily needs the lead, but I expect a much better effort and for him to be in the hunt. (7) WEONA SIZZLER A certainly looks logical as he finished second, beaten by just a neck, in his 2020 debut on February 1. He went forward that night, and Bartlett will probably do the same here. (2) ART HISTORY has been racing well as of late and gets to drop down a notch from the NW10000L5 level.
Race 11 - NW7500L5/Winners of NW5000L5 in Last Start Pace
(5) ALOTBETTOR N burned a lot of money in his last pair at the Meadowlands, but this is certainly a beatable field, and he has won in the past against better at Yonkers. (1) GHOST DANCE dominated against NW5000L5's a week ago and now begins moving up the class ladder. He certainly could win again, and given that he only made ten starts last season, the connections might want to strike while the iron's hot. (2) SOUTHWIND MOROCCAN remains in against NW7500L5's after closing well to take a third on the 1st of February. Pat Berry gets a chance to drive him on this occasion.
Race 12 - NW15000L5/Winners of NW10000L5 in Last Start Pace
(5) BETTORS FIRE N receives both class and post relief in this race, and I expect a performance more like the one on the 20th of January where he cruised to a facile victory. (8) REDBANK BLAZE A really caught the eye the way he crunched that group of NW10000L5's a week ago. He does step up and move outside on the gate, but that was a quality performance and he retains Stratton. (2) IDEAL COWBOY probably needs a drop back to NW10000L5's to be a win threat, but I could definitely see him sitting in from this inside draw and finishing well enough to make the ticket.
