Yonkers: Monday 1/7 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jan 04, 2019
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: CATCH AN ACE (7th)

Spot Play: LA ALWAYS A MARTINI (9th)

FINAL 2018 MEET STATS: 528 - 1495 / $2,857.20

BEST BETS: 76 - 130 / $246.70

Race 1

(3) CAPTAIN AMERICA has been flashing good speed on the big track for a small outfit that usually has success; he can trip out here near the front in this evenly-matched field and get the job done to open up the 2019 racing season. (5) ROLL WITH JEFF and (6) LETSGETINTOTROUBLE also come over from the same race at The Meadowlands and either seems capable if they can overcome their outside posts.

Race 2

(3) MULTITASKR HANOVER has speed, usually behaves himself and gets a big driver upgrade to Brennan. (1) ABC MUSCLES BOY has been facing tons better for Allard and will attract most of the wagering attention. (2) MERRY HANOVER has been a steady commodity at this level and figures for a share from this good post.

Race 3

(6) KEYSTONE KRYSTAL has just one lifetime win but she's raced very well in her last few and gets the call as Brennan's logical choice. (7) IVESEENTHEFUTURE has also been camera-shy but the change of venue shipping in from Mohawk, where she was second best in her last two, can help her cause. (5) BEACH JUMPER hails from Jenn Bongiorno; respect.

Race 4

(5) CASH FOR GOLD jogged at this level, this distance and with this driver (Bartlett) six back. Last week's effort was a good wakeup call. (6) CRESURREY gets class relief and has good early speed. (3) DARK POOL fits with these and has raced well here in the past.

Race 5

(3) ELLA IS AWESOME has looked good since the barn change to Matias Ruiz and she seems capable of taking another off the slight bump in class. (5) A OLIVEINMYMARTINI is erratic but the talent is there if she's in the mood. (1) CABOWABOCUTTIE needs a better getaway from the gate for her best chance.

Race 6

(1) HUNDIE N failed at five cents on the dollar when last seen here; he gets Stratton in the bike and looks like he can try controlling the action again from this spot. (4) STENDAHL HANOVER has regressed a bit in his last couple but his prior starts were good. (7) WESTERN BEACHBOY seems more than capable for Allard but may be done in by the post.

Race 7

(1) CATCH AN ACE has been positively super since arriving locally for Andrew Harris and the mare should handle these at a short price. (2) GATE SPEED has some efforts here a few back that are good enough so she can be considered to complete a chalky exacta. (3) SEEN AT RIO DEO was a good second upon moving into the Allard barn but like many of these on tonight's card she's missed some time which is always a question mark.

Race 8

(4) WILD BILL gets a very important driver switch to Stratton which can make the difference. (3) BRACKLEY BEACH returns locally, gets Bartlett back in the bike and should fit well here. (1) TAKETHEMONEYANDRUN steps up to face a bit better off a well-meant win.

Race 9

(3) LA ALWAYS AMARTINI never got going in that race over at The Meadowlands but her prior three local starts were rock-solid. (1) BULLVILLEKARLA has good tactical speed, the best post and a top driver. (6) TELL ME A JOKE closed with plenty of energy last out; consider strongly for a share.

Race 10

(2) LUCIANO N qualified back effectively and faces softer for a barn that's trying to get back on track; Stratton picks up the drive and this is a good inside spot. (5) FERNLEIGH REBEL N steps up looking for two straight for a live outfit. (1) OH JOHNY B GOOD N also drops a notch and has a legit chance, but don't accept too short of a price.

Race 11

(5) BIG THONG has jogged in two races here for Allard after shipping from Canada and the mare can take another at a short price. (4) SLICK ARTIST A took sneaky money last out and was ready to roll; she steps up to NW8 here and Stratton sticks. (1) LINE DANCER was uncovered last out which doesn't seem like a preferred trip; she's got speed and the rail.

Race 12

(8) MONTY'S PLAY has been a terror in three straight since moving to the DiDomenico barn and he's worth a long look here despite the eight hole. (4) PROLOGUE has jogged in two straight since the switch to Allard; another one that must be respected. (3) SAULSBROOK DEPUTY has raced well from tough spots in his last two at Saratoga; Bartlett's choice.
