Yonkers: Monday 1/28 Analysis

Matt Rose|Jan 25, 2019
Yonkers logo

Best Bet: CATCH AN ACE (9th)

Spot Play: CABOWABOCUTTIE (6th)

MEET STATS: 15 - 32 / $88.20 (+$24.20)

BEST BETS: 2 - 3 / $4.60 (-$1.40)

Race 1

(2) POWER DREAMING N is another in a long line of Down-Under imports and this one qualified faster than most of these race; ignore that 8/1 morning line as the Croghan trainee will attract plenty of attention. (1) P L LESTER ships from Canada off a win and joins the DiDomenico barn; player. (6) OUR ART AND HEAVEN has some early speed and has hit the ticket in most recent starts.

Race 2

(8) CRESURREY was a good second at a big price from the eight hole last out using his early speed; Stratton's choice over his brother's horse. (5) NOBLE WARRAWEE didn't fire his best in last but the winner was strong on the front end; veteran is capable of better. (4) REAL WORLD GOAL is an interesting Meadows shipper joining the Harmon barn and we'll see how he fits in here.

Race 3

(6) HUNDIE N has the look of a money-burner and was a loser at 5 cents on the dollar when last at Yonkers but I like the switch to Stratton and he figures to be a better price tonight. (5) ROLL WITH JEFF has looked good in his two local starts. (3) CHEESE MELT has missed some time for the Burke barn but that last effort at The Meadowlands with Lasix added was solid.

Race 4

(8) APLOMB HANOVER seems like he should fit perfectly at this basement level and that's a nice driver upgrade to Stratton; only problem is the post. (1) MIGHTY SURF gets major post relief and will be a player. (2) CYCLONE MAXIMUS gets Brennan in the bike upon arrival from Monticello and he's got live moves, if he behaves himself.

Race 5

(4) B FIFTEEN was very sharp last out winning in a multiple-move effort and she may actually offer some value here with some interesting rivals signed on. (2) THAT'S AMAZING rallied well off the bench for Allard and she now gets a much more favorable post. (3) ROBYN CAMDEN has shown talent in two U.S. starts but is off a month and may be overbet off those lines.

Race 6

(3) CABOWABOCUTTIE tends to be a touch erratic but she tries Stratton in the bike tonight while moving back inside. (4) PELICAN BLUE CHIP got baked up trying to clear the lead when aggressively handled and I'm willing to forgive that effort. (2) ODDS ON ASHLEY arrives for very live connections, has speed and a good post.

Race 7

(1) ROCKIN CELEBRATION didn't have much of a chance in his last two races but certainly wasn't awful; he moves all the way inside tonight and figures to get a live trip. (3) NIGHT CLUB HANOVER qualified well over a slow track at Monti and should be ready to go for good connections. (7) NIHILATED TRUTH has been pretty sharp for an extended period of time but the post may present a problem.

Race 8

(5) SHARP ACTION MONEY qualified willingly after being picked up by the Burke barn and he gets Gingras to drive, with Brennan owning another one in here; top billing in a race where it's hard to get excited about anyone. (3) COOL BLUES MAN moves to the DiDomenico barn for co-owner George Brennan and could show some improvement. (1) BRACKLEY BEACH went wire-to-wire at a big price from the rail last out and he is in a similar spot tonight.

Race 9

(1) CATCH AN ACE has been simply awesome for the Andrew Harris barn and is tough to go against at a short price. (4) LA ALWAYS AMARTINI has also been very good for a barn that's been live recently. (3) THORNAPPLE figures to save ground and may hit the ticket at a price.

Race 10

(3) PROLOGUE has taken three straight in solid fashion since moving to the Allard barn, including a gutsy win over (6) BETTOR THAN SPRING last out; favorable post could give him the edge in here. The latter hasn't skipped a beat since being sold and moving to a new barn; player. (4) ROCK LIGHT has been much-improved recently.

Race 11

(2) LYONS JENNIELEE is reunited with Jordan Stratton and gets much-needed post relief; those two angles clearly make her the one to beat. (4) STICK ARTIST A didn't fire at all last out off live cover but her prior efforts were good. (1) LINE DANCER does have some speed and will likely look to protect early position.

Race 12

(5) IN SPADES showed good energy in that qualifier for Banca and could be ready to roll; let's see how live he is on the board. (3) ROLAND N ROCK looked to have regained some confidence with those Freehold wins and if right he's much the best here. (1) RAINBOW ROMANCE N gets post relief and figures to have a say.
